What's funny is the lipo is what actually makes it perform the way it does. A single 18650 over 40-45 watts isn't a viable solution. I can make it; sure but the performance just isn't where I would want Ti to be. My benchmark is 6 hours at 50w without loss of power. The dna75 at 50 watts with even a true 25-30 amp battery (according to Mooch) best case lasts 2 hrs, that's 5 batteries to last an 8 hour day with a 1hr drive each way to work; IMO that's a bridge too far. If I can find a machine shop that will work in batches of 25 at a decent rate I would consider it. But the company that did the machine work on the LBC won't touch less than 100 pieces at a time. At 100 pieces I'm around 20k all in after buying boards and carbon fiber. It just doesn't seem like a wise maneuver. If I did a pre-order for say 50 of them at 350 or so I could do it. The Trapezoid on the other hand exceeds my bench mark by a pretty fair margin and is smaller. Also with the Trapezoid I have to have the batteries custom made but they will be replaceable without coming back to me nor the need to solder. My vote is for the LBC jr DNA75/18650![]()
Seems like alot of peeps were scared about the LBC because of the lipo.
All that said who would commit to a pre-order for the LBC Jr (18650/Dna75) at $350 with a 8-10 week delivery time? The prints are ready to go for the body now, prints for the carbon fiber are a phone call away. We could get rolling right after January 1st. Monies would be due january 15th and delivery would be March 15-April 1.
