Could it just be the work burnout and winter blahs kicking in or is it the switch.

I feel slow and sluggish and not so sharp in the brain these last few days.
I am a retail manager, which means lots of multitasking and running around and yesterday I felt like I was in a time warp. My co-managers noticed it too. I'm still smoking an analog here and there but cut back huge. I don't even take them with me when I go to work (which helps alot, leave the analogs behind)

If this is a symptom of vaping, is it temporary and how long does it last?
Perhaps a symptom of dehydration? I am not a big liquid drinker by any means, two pots of coffee and a beer or two a day is usually all I drink.
It is tough for me to get on a huge liquid regime, I have to force it down big time. Doesn't matter if it is flavored or not.

If not I guess I'd better get back on the vitamins and schedule some vacation time.

Two pots of coffee is quite a bit of caffeine. I think it could be a number of things, my first thought would be just the winter blahs mixed in with the natural depression from no longer having the alkaloids in cigarettes. I know this isn't really the response you were looking for but I suggest you try discontinuing vaping and return to analogs for a day or two and see if this feeling persists. If it doesn't then you may need to tweak your nicotine levels in your juice or try using snus as an alternative to analogs.

caffine is a diuretic, so this in itself will dehydrate you in a big way. I know its hard, but you gotta squeeze some good ol H20 in ya and try to cut back on the caffine intake. I had some bad hand tremours from to much coffee. I havent cut it out completly but down to 1 a day in the morning. feel 10 times better too, and not shaky anymore ;)

See if you can kick the analoge, seems your pretty close in doing so. Oh and maybe your not liking the PG juice...try VG instead.

I'll try and boost the water intake. This is where I am confused, everyone talking about amping up the water. PG, it doesn't just dry out your throat but your guts and all? Can someone explain it better for me?

I hate to kick up the analogs again. I am already really struggling with the desire as the newness of the pv is wearing off. If I go back to them full time I am afraid I won't be able to make the switch again. I just can't be walking around lethargic and stupid.

I'll give the water a try and report back.

If you aren't using any multi vitamins those certainly wouldnt hurt you either. I always forget to take mine, but when I am consistent with them I feel much better. You may also need to up your nicotine levels in whatever your vaping. If you are going to drink allot of coffee try interspersing some decaff in with your regular, if you consume allot. Basically weening really..

Hope you feel better! Keep it up!

Try to find the thread on symptoms of withdrawal. By vaping instead of smoking, you've cut out a large amount of chemicals and by products in the burning tobacco. Many of these are more addicting than the nicotine that you're still getting. There is much more information in the Library. You do need to increase your water intake. It doesn't have to be plain water, but it's better if it doesn't have caffeine.

Hi AmyB66,
Your symptoms sound like how i feel when i quit smoking (cold turkey not using pv or anything else)- i feel slow mentally, have a hard time concentrating, feel like i'm in a fog and get quite sleepy - that's my withdrawl and that lasts most intensely for about a week. Perhaps it's withdrawl symptoms???
good luck and let us know how you're doing!

Anybody else have similar analog withdrawl to Amy? Thanx!!!!!

This ^

These are recognsied smoking withdrawal symptoms, but you MUST drink more liquid, vits are never a 'bad' idea, and excercise as well will help you.
It does pass btw, but you need to help it a long some :)

Thanks everyone for the responses. At least I have a better grasp of what the heck is going on.

I noticed I was getting the same dull headache and slow feeling today (day off thank goodness) I hit a couple analogs in the afternoon and I feel a load better.

I've always been an ultra light user, they say there's even more nic and crap in those. Makes you really hate the tobacco industry for putting in all the extra chemicals.
Have a good healthy energy charged lunch packed for tommorrow along with some a big bottle of aloe and pomegranite juice that I know I'll be able to get down.

I know I need to kick the caffiene too but one thing at a time folks! :)

Really good advice already given. I would only add a thought about your nic level. Many here have posted about needing nicotine to help with brain function and how they have totally fallen apart without it. If you are using too low mg of nic juice this might be your problem too. You won't get an equivalent amount of nic with your PV as you do with a cigarette puff for puff. You have to vape more frequently to get the same. If that's not possible then you could try upping the strength of the juice you are using.

Once you dump the cigs you MAY feel ( you probably will as you are already tbh) slower and slightly off your game. this is NOT conencted to nic its conencted to the other stuff in ciggies. The other chemicals that affect your bio-chemistry (esp brain bio chemistry) and give you the 'perk' effect.
For some people, this dissipates over a few weeks, struggling through it isn't easy (for some, not all smokers go through this, but you would get it whether you vaped used NRT or used nothing). Some ex smokers can't get past it at all and many go back to smoking. it's one reason NRTs have a high failure rate (the other, most common, is usually that it does nothing to replicate/passify the smoking 'habit' of hand to mouth)
If you do go through this, please don't simply up your nic level.
In most cases it is NOT the nic level that gave your the 'perk up' effect, its the akaloids in the tobacco (its also the extra chemicals but you can't have those, nu-uh, they'll kill you) itself. You can, in that case, posion yourself to death with higher n higher nic levels and STILL not get the 'perk up' effect you are looking for (or need).
IF this is you after a few weeks (and you really need to give it a bit of time, and hit the coffee if you need to, nothing wrong with that providing you chug water too), then you might want to look into something else as well as vaping; like snus or snuff. Neither of these involve spitting I must add :)
Some members here find they simply can't manage with vaping alone. Others find their need for tobacco alkaloids is not that strong and do without them fine. Still others find it hard going at first but smooths out after a little time.
Any of these is 'right' and none are 'wrong'. You have to do what suits you best; just be wary of upping the nicotine to too high a level, that's not recommended and your heart /BP won't thank you.
Good luck :)

The highest I have is 24mg of Nic. I don't want to up it. I have had what I guess you'd call nicotine overdose in the past. Years ago I tried a patch. I forgot to take it off before bed, woke up to a crazy heart rate that lasted all day. Scared the beejeezus out of me and I came very close to taking myself to the hospital. I never touched the patch again.

I do appreciate all the great imput here. Like I said, understanding all this better makes me want to quit even more.

This forum has been very helpful in many ways. Had I not found it I probably would have failed on the vaping alternative after a day or two. It's been a week and a half, I've smoked less than two packs over this time and am still very determined.

Thank you all!

I'm still having a heck of a time with the blah's - have had the symptoms for weeks now - I've never been a huge water drinker, so I know I need to start doing that. I drink a lot of coffee, but I'm trying to cut back on that.

I started taking what I would consider mega doses of vitamins, but then I've never really taken those in the past. I take a multi, 1000mg of C, D3, B-12, and E - and in all honestly, I feel no different. I plan on getting checked at the Doc's office pretty soon here to see if anything else is going on or seeing about something else to get me going.

The thing that bugs me is the one time I quit for a month 25 yrs ago - I can remember having tons of energy and all the changes my body went through - my skin, hair, everything felt different - but not this time - I was fully thinking all that would happen again - but so far - nothing. I've read that within a month or so - most would start getting their taste and smell back to, but so far that's not really happening either.

I think a lot of it has to do with my age and how long I smoked - I'm 55 and smoked for over 40 yrs - 1-1/2 packs a day - full strength reds. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. Back when I quit that time - I was still a young pup and probably hadn't done as much damage to my body as I have by now.

At any rate - I'm not to discouraged by it - I just hope to regain my energy level and start feeling healthier at some point soon !
