No we don't. I would like to see something come in our kits. Not everyone rumages through all of these pages on the forum. What we have is a view then a bunch of other views. Nobody agree's and everyone gets confused.

I agree w you about a Form letter in every kit with a list of the batts that can be used with the specific device purchased. The battery info pages here are what opened up my eyes and helped prevent a serious problem with the batts and hardware i had purchased. Not a thread, not opinions, straight facts.

While its on my mind, I have another instance of ECF open and I'm reading the EMSS, which is also extremely informative. It may be Roly's opnion, but I'm willing to accept that as fact when it comes to this stuff.

Just to add some clarity to the pea soup, please note that "lithium" batteries are not rechargeable and not recommended for mod use; "lithium-ion" batteries are rechargeable and what we use.

Two different beasts and what looks like caused this incident.

Thank you for the correction! You are right, it's so very important to know the difference! bnrk

I'm not a modder, however, considering recent events ...
Would it be a good idea to have the form archived as a Sticky ???

I noticed the information is kept confidential and for admin use only.
Is this just for our data base or do we contact the seller to advise
them at least incidents have been reported to give them a "heads up" ???

PIX PLEASE ! IF this really happened we will be all over it to find out what happened , If a battery goes thermal by itself internally there is NOTHING any MOD can do to stop it ! , this is where the vent holes come in to play to allow the battery to vent the gasses.

PIX PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, exact details would be much appreciated. I'd like very much to know:

Exact make and model of the batteries and EBay item number
Best guess as to how many charge/discharge cycles
Had they always been kept together as a pair
Had either one ever drained below 3 volts for whatever reason (causes permanent damage to LI batteries)
Did they always come off the charger at nearly equal voltage (if mine are off by as little as .2 volts, I ditch them)
Were they ever dropped hard that you know of? Drop it, ditch it.
Did you ever notice any "suspicious activity" when charging the batteries?

Check out this picture; the battery on the left [marked with "XX"], that is not taking a charge, measures about 4.01 volts. The one on the right, that is taking a charge, measured about 4.22 volts before it went on the charger. That is suspicious.

mismatched batts charging.jpg

Just took them off the charger after both lights went green (after about 3 minutes). Battery "XX" still measures 4.01v, other battery is at 4.23V. Even more suspicious. Into the recycle bin with both of them.

I have a pair of 3V batteries, and you can't charge them on a 4.2V charger. I got them in a kit, with the charger.

I would suggest always getting batteries from a known vendor. One who doesn't sell knock-offs either.

Then you would have a copy of the receipt from your Ebay purchase of these Batts, so could you please show us all the Batts that you purchased so we all know not to buy them, this would help everyone if you could show us the EXACT purchase you made Thundercats,, Thank You
