FWIW, if I was in your shoes I would be starting to relax a bit by now. Good luck, and thanks for bringing a product to market w our safety in mind.

If it did happen we would like to know HOW so we can address it ! , Like I said people have done things like this and they were not true just to cause problems , NOT saying this is the case here BUT it has happened before so that is why I am suspicious.

Like Lord said give it time.

While its on my mind, I have another instance of ECF open and I'm reading the EMSS, which is also extremely informative. It may be Roly's opnion, but I'm willing to accept that as fact when it comes to this stuff.

I also agree with Roly's op. But a manual needs to be put in the kits. This is for me the best way to make sure everyone is informed. I didn't know about this forum for 6 months after I started vaping, it sure would have help me if I did. Not everybody is going to find this forum before they get a mod. This is not the first mod that has blew. Just put a manual in there kit and it will calm there fears. A small manual not a book.

I'm feeling a little left out here John, nothing like a teaser;)

Sorry about that kwalka, but I am nothing if not excruciatingly correct when it comes to matters of personal privacy. I think that all will be revealed though, in due time, and with due respect to the rights of all.

(You could always email him yourself, and you'll probably get the same answer he gave me).

Now where's that damn dog? :)

If something like that happened to me I would keep quite about details, drop a teaser, maybe a low resolution pics or two, take a bunch of hi-res pictures, and sell them to the highest bidder.
If a failure caused significant damage or injury, it's third party failure analysis time.

That's how you fix stupid.

And I respect you for that my friend. I'm sure if I was around here a bit longer than I have been, I would have pets of my own.

Not sure what you mean here Rocket But he did say he was not hurt in his first post, as far as the failure goes if it was a bad battery them now matter what mod or design it was nothing would stop an internally shorted battery from out-gassing not even a SINGLE BATTERY MOD ! and you know this .

In any case we will see what happens eventually.

I am very glad that no one was hurt in this case . The last thing we want is anybody getting hurt by one of our products.

buzz,
I know, and I also know you are sincerely interested in safety.

It just gets me how many members of this shark tank come out to support someone that is probably still breathing hard after a scary event. Good thing the poor little old lady that had (maybe) an NJOY e-cig pop it's cork doesn't belong to ECF.
The support she would have gotten here would have her in tears.

I just jumped in this thread.
I' have had a spring collapse on my Reo Grand w/ an AW IMR battery- the plastic button melted too but the battery was alright. It wasn't the battery that was bad on this one- it was a shorted atty. It's important to check atty's before you put them on your mod too...I use a multimeter and do a visual now on all of them, new or just cleaned. You just never know. I could imagine, the:
1. Wrong batteries
2. Shorted atty (or even a stuck on-switch)...
3. No vent hole
And....could go BOOM!!

Always hit the on switch away from your face the first time...I've gotten in the habit of doing that no matter what mod I'm using.

Thanks Rocket , we are VERY interested in safety and what happened ? , if it was a failure on our part we want to fix it ( to date this has never happened to a Buzz Pro or IPro or BUZZ after 3,500 units so ) If it was a wrong or bad battery we would like to know what it was to warn people ,If the tube broke or deformed this is exactly what we need to see to know if the ECF type slot design would have helped or not . Or if a different design is needed like holes near the top of the batts etc.

anyhow I am just glad nobody got hurt regardless of the cause.

Dave the Buzz Pro has an over current limiter in it so a shorted atty does not matter the device shuts itself OFF in that case FYI.
Very cool- I understand the new VV Woodvil coming out soon (REO) also has the same design!
Modern technology = Better safety!! :)

It is a little intimidating to read about the battery meltdowns reported on ECF. It had to happen eventually as more and more people start buying hardware and vaping. Education is crucial to keep the reputation of ecigs as shiny as possible.

We aren't the only ones seeing Li-ion failures. Wait until there are a few million electric cars out there rolling down the road. We may benefit from battery technology improvements as time goes on.
Explosion rocks GM tech center - lithium-ion batteries to blame

In the meantime, I'm thinking about a high priced vv mod, but still vaping my eGo-T with a Boge carto and watching! :vapor:

I was reading a thread a couple of weeks ago in which a woman reported her husband's eGo batt going ballistic while plugged into a charger.

Don't get too comfortable.

So Thundercats, you have been given ample time to produce pics.... So I am guessing like many others that this did not actually happen and is obviously some kind of fishing expedition to upset a few people around here and that's not cool..... Either produce some pics or as we all know the story, It didn't happen!!!!!!

Every battery that has blown up the person is a lier. Whats going on here. These are electronics, these are batteries. Electronics fail, batteries blow up, always has and always will. This is not a perfect world. You could be next and then we will call you a lier. Come on now. I think he was not informed which I have been saying all along. And we need to be aware of the mod at all times, the batteries can fail. Thundercat I'm glad your all right.

Oh, I'm not. I won't charge my ego batts unless I'm in the house where I can see, hear, and monitor as I walk back and forth. If I leave the house for any reason, it's unplugged. I've heard the bottle rocket on steroids stories, especially the one that left a dent in someone's metal door.

I posted recently about not being able to dislodge the bottom cap on my eGo 1000mah batts. The 650mah cap comes off easily. Tight bottom cap = pressure buildup in a failure mode. I should be able to pry them out using a pocketknife blade pushing with my thumb on the back side. Mine make me think I need a wheel puller! I examined them last night with a 60 power pocket microscope (stylus scope). The caps are there. I was beginning to wonder if these were one piece tubes.

We ship each unit with a manual and a battery safety sheet from the battery MFG that explains what to DO and NOT do , it is very clear and explains what can happen to Li-ion batteries if handled improperly.

We are trying for sure , there is also a battery safety warning on our web site right under the order link for all battery operated products on our web site.
I hope other vendors take heed to this. You show total respect for your customers.

I got a Li-Po charging bag on ebay for like $8. All charging takes place in the bag. I still follow the rules you listed, but its nice to know if there is a charging failure its gonna be somewhat, if not completely contained.
