Can aluminum be electroplated?

Yes in fact the Infinity is plated , BUT the qty has to be high in order to get them to do it !! again it is all about QTY of type , otherwise they would all be customs and cost 2x as much ! ( and we do not have the time or people to do customs )

Poppa D...I've seen kits for home anodizing...The plating well it could be pulled off but mucho cheaper just too head too the chrome shop...Aluminum is tricky at best...it's gotta be high quality and very clean not too be goobered up when plating or anodizing....Me...Heck any color is fine and dandy...Just give me a big old cloud of vapor and I'm happy!!!!!!!!!

Five I see now where I left my camo Buzz...I'll get it the next trip Bro.......and the candy hasn't gone anywhere...House of Kolour has the real deal....my favorite...gold base w/ tangerine. ...Schweet...!! It builds up rather thick when finished so it's pretty much for show cars only...SEM has candy concentrates that are mixed with your clear...Haven't tried that yet but maybe soon...

Good point Gmoney , I have NOT tried that and at this point in time I would have to Beta test it. Doing things like this this late in the game is VERY risky IMO and experience .

I can get a tube anodized and try this it would ADD a switch to the circuit ! good Idea ! damn more crap to do . Ok I have 3 tubes coming like this for final evaluation and 2 of the old design , I will try it out .

Thanks! Sorry if I am creating work for you, lol. :) I thought it would be good to float the idea out there - whether it is something that works for you or something that could possibly be integrated into your design now or in the future is your call.

I've been using a Buzz for over a yr. and have never needed an off switch nor have I heard of anyone that had problems because of it. It's a great idea G$ but we need it to be done. If he keeps changing stuff now I think we'll be in for another problem child.
If I want an off switch I just pull one battery and install it backwards.

I certainly wouldn't want to hold things up 5c. Just thought I would throw the idea out there. While it may not be a necessity, I was taught the most important rule of design was "idiot proofing" (Yes, I went to college a long time ago, lol) I think a "lockout" would be a helpful safety feature and (actually more importantly) a good selling feature. also, while it does depend on many factors which are not known to me, could potentially cut production cost slightly.

Lighten up 5cs, your brutal.
I said it was a great idea Poppa. I'm sorry if that came out wrong. I just never needed one and didn't want the design to go through changes delaying the finished product. I didn't intend to be brutal and I apologize. I'll just watch.

Hey 5c - I didn't take it that way. I respect the point your making. I was hoping I didn't come off as critical of Mike's present design and I also hope it's understood I did not mean for Mike to Stop production to incorporate my ideas. My only goal in posting was to give Mike something to consider if and when it may appeal to him. I often worry, usually after the fact unfortunately, that I may come off too abrupt and forceful with my opinion, at least so I have been told over and over, lol. I sometimes forget how things can come off merely in written words. (I'm actually fairly charming and easy going in person ... no really, lol)

I, for one, always want to hear your thoughts and opinions 5c, I have profound respect for them! :)

5 is an ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS J/K J/K !!!!!

No Gmoney that is a great idea !!

I have 3 of them coming for my finals .

Adding a power switch is something I have wanted to do for a long time but could not come up with a way to do it !! good thinking and idea ( I know they do this on flashlights too )

If it takes some more time it is OK , BUT we have to test the hell out if it first.

This will only work on anodized tubes BTW

I've got a Sure-Fire in the shop that operates off that principal....The body isn't metal however..I'll investigate the situation tomorrow...Given the fact you're depending on a high wear area too remain anodized......Then there's the fact you're gonna want the cap too screw/unscrew seamlessly time after time...Not too mention some repeatable degree of accuracy will be required when machining....Now it could work and work fine....Testing will be required and changing horses mid-stream......Well....as usual I'm riding with Five on this one.....Definitely worth investigating however.........
