I would say VA hospitals are not a top 10 item, and yet here we are today with it being treated as if job creation and economy need to take a back seat to this issue, which both sides magically agree on.

You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

Always thought Robert A. Heinlein had it right, solve a simple quadratic equation, you get to vote...wrong answer, better luck next year....:glare:

As I recall, Heinlein also warned about the dangers of saturation by man-made electromagnetic radiation, that it would trigger a spike in abberant anti-social behavior ...

I think he called that one right ...

Can anyone explain to me what we'd have to lose by going to Congress (who would vocally oppose certain Dems) on vaping regulations?

Are you Talking about Contacting Republican Reps. and asking them to Speak out in Favor of e-Cigarette use?

And asking Democratic Reps to Consider that e-Cigarettes are More Beneficial then they are problematic?

Because People should have Done That Already.

Because People should have Done That Already.
And those who haven't should go ahead and do it.

Those who have need to do it again. And Again.

Nothing. We have nothing to loose but we should start with sending our personal stories to the Surgeon General Of The United States.. If we all did that and compiled all of our stories with our replies from Rear Admiral (RADM) Boris D. Lushniak, M.D., M.P.H. the current Surgeon General, it would be a good component to add to anything we sent to the House and Senate. Without a statement from him it wouldn't carry a whole lot of weight imo. We need to have more than enough weight to tip the scale that the FDA has put up.

Preventing Tobacco Use Among Youth and Young Adults
Executive Summary 1
The Tobacco Epidemic Continues Because Youth and
Young Adults Begin to Use—and Become Addicted
to—Cigarettes and Smokeless Tobacco Products

It seems the only thing he is concerned about with smokeless tobacco is with advertisements aimed at the youth.

Maybe what's needed is "if you are against vaping you are for tobacco. "

That's essentially the way I frame all my commentary: all attacks against e-cigs / vaping are to protect smoking

It's been widely accepted in the world of vapers that protecting smokingis the end-game for 99.999% of those who oppose vaping - whether directly for money; market protection for the products themselves, or related / tied-in products like NRT & cancer/heart pharmaceuticals; power; tax revenue; etc etc etc.

Dead parents are just a casualty of their war to protect smoking.

On-topic: it is election season, and the question to be asked of every politiician: what is your position on e-cigs & vaping??

Nothing to lose, hopefully something to gain. It's our small numbers that would work against us, vaping is exploding but is still a small percentage of the smoking public, and the smoking public is a small percentage of the general population.

Politicians tend to listen to the largest groups, they see more potential votes in swaying a large group. If 100% of the vapers in the US wrote to their representatives we would still be drowned out by the "jobs groups", "taxes groups", "guns groups", heck even the premium cigars groups....

We are vapers and we vote. We pay these governmentally challenged congressmen with our taxes every year. Idk why they wouldn't listen to a partition if well written and represented the estimated 4 million vapers in the US? All we need to do is get CASAA to write one and after we all add out short vaping histories to it, send it to both the house and the senate.

If the Elected Official is doing their Job, this is Exactly what they Should be Doing. Representing the Will of the People.

What happens when a Lot of People Write their Reps is it shows that their Is Opposition to an Issue. And that tends to give a Rep pause and make them consider which Group they want to Alienate by taking a Stance one way or another.

So many Times, a Elected Official will take the Road that they feel Causes them to Lose the Least Amount of Support. And that is to Take No Sides and Do Nothing.

In Our Case, this is Not Necessarily a 100% Bad Thing. And it would be Nice to have Less Exiting Senators like Harkin beating the Anti e-Cigarette Drum

---

The FDA Doesn't Answer directly to Congress. So if someone is going to Write and the e-Mail something, wouldn't it make sense to also Contact the HHS?

How about we hold the next Vapefest on the steps of the US capitol building, two full days of vaping in their faces?

We need more than the number of all the ECF members to show up, sadly far more than the membership of CASAA. http://www.casaa.org/Become_a_Member.html

A frontal assault that would hopefully get at least some media coverage, maybe even some positive coverage. Letters and emails are far too easy to be shuffled to staff, and with the current exposure of vaping, we likely are being shuffled off to the lowest level intern in the staff hierarchy.

That is why I suggested writing directly to Rear Admiral (RADM) Boris D. Lushniak, M.D., M.P.H. the current Surgeon General. It would be worth a shot anyway.

How about a million vapers in front of the reflection pool in DC. Reminiscent of the old Vietnam War Protesters of the late 60's. That would grab some attention. Ha!

If people are Serious about doing something like this. I mean Serious like they are Actually going to Organize it in their Area or on the Steps of a State or Federal Building.

Then you Need to Saturate Bomb the Media with e-Cigarette health studies Before you put the People in the Streets.
