Flavours and nicotine are dissolved in hygroscopic (absorbs water from the air) components, which turn the water in the solution into a smoke-like vapour when heated. Commonly used hygroscopic components include propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine, and polyethylene glycol 400 (often sold under the abbreviations PG, VG, and PEG 400, respectively).

The first health benefit many smoker’s notice after switching to “vaping” (using an e-cigarette) is that the persistent cough disappears. The hideous ritual of hocking up phlegm and ravaging your throat every morning finally comes to an end. This is because the cacophony of toxins present in cigarette smoke damages the back of your throat, leading to a build-up of mucus. Because e-cigarettes contain no toxins, the cough will disappear.

The gang of carcinogens and toxins present in tobacco cigarettes are what give your lungs a hard time. Specifically, hydrogen cyanide prevents your lungs from clearing themselves out in the ordinary way. The toxins also cause your lungs to swell, which constricts the flow of air. With electronic cigarettes, there is no hydrogen cyanide and no toxins, so your lungs can repair themselves.

Myth: Electronic cigarette cartridges offer flavors that are appealing to underage users.
Fact: Most adult-intended products offer a plethora of flavors.

Go into any liquor store, and you will also find a variety of flavors. Furthermore, nicotine gums and lozenges come in several flavors, including fruit, mint, and more. Electronic cigarettes are marketed for the adult consumer over the age of 18. Adults enjoy the flavorful products too.

Better Circulation. Carbon monoxide is one of the most damaging substances found in cigarettes, and it basically wreaks its havoc by basically stealing the place of oxygen within the blood. By binding to the hemoglobin, it prevents as much oxygen getting to your vital organs.

Carbon monoxide, one of the toxins resulting from combusted tobacco smoke, binds to hemoglobin 200 times more forcefully than oxygen. In other words, the CO from tobacco smoke and other pollutants takes 200 times longer to release its bond to hemoglobin.

The nicotine present in second-hand vapor is miniscule, at most. Thus, second-hand vapor from PVs pose little to no danger to bystanders, unlike second-hand smoke. In addition, depending on the flavor vaped, it leaves a pleasant aroma which rapidly dissipates.

There was a study done that showed e-cigarette vapor had none of the affects on complete blood count or inflammation that cigarettes have. This was also true for the non willing recipient (aka non-vaper) in the room. In other words preliminary studies showed that second hand vapor was considerably safer than second hand smoke.

I can't find the link now. Sorry.

Myth: No one knows what is in electronic cigarettes.
Fact: Studies have been conducted and the ingredients are well known.

Multiple studies by different laboratories around the world have been conducted. Most e-liquid contains Propylene Glycol, Food Grade Flavorings, and Nicotine. Do you know how many chemicals are in a real cigarette? Over 4,000.

Myth: Nicotine is bad for you.
Fact: While it is always best to eliminate nicotine completely, the long-term use of nicotine is thought to be much safer than tobacco smoking.

Nicotine is extremely addicting, as most of us know. Countless attempts at smoking cessation has caused us to seek alternatives that might work for us. The idea is to reduce the harm caused. Electronic cigarettes offer the responsible adult smoker another choice in nicotine delivery. As nicotine is also a naturally occuring substance, it may be impossible to be truely and completely "nicotine free", but the products which contain it are not always "bad for you".

Another study that is still pretty much on our side.

Secondhand Exposure to Vapors From Electronic Cigarettes
Results: The study showed that e-cigarettes are a source of secondhand exposure to nicotine but not to combustion toxicants. The air concentrations of nicotine emitted by various brands of e-cigarettes ranged from 0.82 to 6.23 µg/m3. The average concentration of nicotine resulting from smoking tobacco cigarettes was 10 times higher than from e-cigarettes (31.60±6.91 vs. 3.32±2.49 µg/m3, respectively; p = .0081).

Conclusions: Using an e-cigarette in indoor environments may involuntarily expose nonusers to nicotine but not to toxic tobacco-specific combustion products. . .
