Another Study shows that "passive vaping" is magnitudes safer than second hand smoke.

Results During the smoking session, 19 cigarettes were smoked, administering 11.4mg of nicotine (according to cigarette pack information). During the e-CIG session, 1.6 ml of liquid was consumed, administering 17.6mg of nicotine. During the smoking session we found: TOC=6.66mg/m3, toluene=1.7 μg/m3, xylene=0.2 μg/m3, CO=11 mg/m3, nicotine=34 μg/m3, acrolein=20 μg/ml and PAH=9.4 μg/m3. No glycerin, propylene glycol and NOx were detected after the smoking session. During the e-CIG session we found: TOC=0.73 mg/m3 and glycerin=72 μg/m3. No toluene, xylene, CO, NOx, nicotine, acrolein or PAHs were detected on room air during the e-CIG session.

Conclusions: Passive vaping is expected from the use of e-CIG. However, the quality and quantity of chemicals released to the environment are by far less harmful for the human health compared to regular tobacco cigarettes. Evaporation instead of burning, absence of several harmful chemicals from the liquids and absence of sidestream smoking from the use of the e-CIG are probable reasons for the difference in results.

When I smoked, I never realized how stinkie they really are. Now that I vape, I can smell one a mile away and they are gross and I feel like I should apologize to all those I subjected to that nasty smell.

I agree, I couldn't smell it when I was a smoker but now I am shocked by how bad smokers smell. I am shocked that I walked around smelling like that. My wife is a saint for putting up with that. I guess since she smoked when we met I got a pass

Below quote is from Dr. Gordon Strauss of Lennox Hill Hospital in New York City

r. "It's not the nicotine in cigarettes that kills you, and the nicotine in e-cigarettes probably won't really hurt you either, but again, it hasn't been studied," Strauss said. "Is smoking something out of a metal and plastic container safer than a cigarette? Cigarettes are already so bad for you it's hard to imagine anything worse. But, it's a risk/benefit analysis. For a parent trying to quit, we know that secondhand smoke is a huge risk to kids, so if an electronic cigarette keeps you from smoking, maybe you'd be helping kids with asthma or saving babies."

MYTH: Our government is looking out for our best interests

FACT: This myth is simply laughable. The government is looking out for all of its interests, including big tobacco and pharmaceutical companies, who make the two products that are in competition with the electronic cigarette. Any smoker turned electronic cigarette user is one less pack-a-day purchaser of tobacco, of which the government taxes. This tax totals 9.3 Billion dollars annually. Even though smokers cause a larger burden on our health care, it is estimated . billion dollars annual are the result of smokers. This is a net profit of 7.8 billion dollars for our Canadian government's pocket. They do not want to give this up. Any smoker turned electronic-cigarette user won't need the current quit smoking products made by the drug companies: The patch, the nicotine gums, the nicotine inhalers, and the drugs. --Which by the way have a 95% failure rate. The pharmaceutical companies made a net profit of 1.3 billion dollars in Canada in 2009, of which the Canadian governments receives its taxes. The worldwide sales o smoking-cessation products surpassed 1.6 billion dollars in 2009. This is a big business ladies and gentleman, and the pharmaticudical companies have a vested interest in seeing electronic cigarettes off the market. They have a lot of money, and a lot of power.

Many smokers have turned to E-cigarettes as another tool to help them quit smoking, particularly for smokers who feel shamed and ostracized whenever they need to take a cigarette break. Studies have shown E-cigarettes can be extremely effective for smokers looking to quit, or reduce how much they smoke.

The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association (CASAA) recently released results of its first-ever study into the effects of chemicals found in electronic cigarettes. The study, which was funded by the CASAA and conducted by the Drexel University School of Public Health, found that with generally acceptable usage levels, there were no health dangers posed by an e-cigarette’s vapors
