Eek...too much hair. I don't want something I have to groom.
I'd love to have a Great Dane or English Mastiff.

And a dog that size is definitely not cheap at the groomers. I love newfies too but i just dont want to have to do that big of a grooming job.I still want a newfie. I'd have to have a standing weekly appointment with Casey (the local groomer) though.
I'll ask him next time he's in the store. Just to have some idea what I would be in for.
They're not that much trouble. I took Rums every 6 to 8 weeks. The thing I did wrong was having him shaved. It ruins their undercoat.I still want a newfie. I'd have to have a standing weekly appointment with Casey (the local groomer) though.
I paid $100.00 for anything. Shave or grooming didn't matter $100.00Depends what kind of coat you want the dog to have. I would say a bath and brush out and possibly deshed if needed every once in a while when they blow their coat. I don't have a clue what the pricing is where you're at. Pricing varies by location I think. Where I work at for a bath, brush out and sanitary shave, nails and ear cleaning for a dog the size of a newfie would run you probably around $35-$40 but that is with ONLY brushing out, no hair taken off. For a mini trim it would be around $50 and that's trimming the feathers and feet. If by some crazy chance you would want to shave him, which I do not recommend at all, I would easily charge $100 or so. I'd be interested in hearing what other groomers are charging for the different grooms in different states. It's a huge job for any of those on such a big dog. And it doesn't necessarily have to be done weekly. baths and brush out every 2 to 3 weeks and every 8 weeks or so do a mini trim. I will say that once a dog gets matted and has to be dematted or shaved down it will cost a little more because of the extra time it takes. Also, I'll sometimes charge a small pita fee depending on how bad the dog behaved. Of course we don't tell the customer it's a pita fee but make note in the chart for future reference. Im joking about the pita fee but have been tempted many times.

Pricey planner but I think it will help me not feel so scattered and I've wanted to put this kind of planner together for several years. Besides, my in laws are buying it for me for Christmas. I just buy it and give it to them so she can wrap it and give it back to me.

It's going to take her some time to adjust I'm sure. The good thing about her living at my moms now is that I can go visit a lot more than I usually do because it's much closer to me.
