To further my point, if the charts were dead accurate then ask yourself this. Will all of the sub ohm vapors out there, with 100, 200, or 250w mods which would clearly be deep in the red, how come no one is blowing themselves up ???

    Exactly...

From what I've heard the people you read about blowing themselves up (LOL) are the ones who run UN-regulated mech mods, with multiple batteries at insanely high volts/watts. I only use protected mods like the provari, ipv4/5, etc.

I've heard that frogs ARE having an impact on timely deliveries. It's a REAL problem.

    :)

Frogs certainly slow down the delivery of my .... to the car every morning. Victor runs down the deck steps and screeches to a halt right at the bottom so that he can stare into the frog pond. Of course boxers melt if they get wet, so he won't go after them. But he also does not move off the path to the garage. He's mesmerized.

FV any positive movement on the Blue Check ??

Yes, tonight I received new code. I'll try it this weekend as to not muck up the site on a Friday.

Good late morning. Day one of my mini vacation too hot to do anything. Real feel 104. No new coop roof today.

    House dog on the move
Yup, another hot one. :( Grass needs cutting, but I don't have the energy with this heat.

Hot and humid here too. blech.

    All caught up! *whew*

    Blech about says it... :)

We're mostly having a moderate summer. It topped out at 94 today, and pretty much never humid...at least, not what the rest of the country would call humid. If we have 40% humidity on a summer day, everyone around here is whining and hating life.

Unfortunately, it's supposed to be heating back up to 99 tomorrow and 104 Sunday. I hate summer...is it fall yet?

Hope everyone had a great Friday. I worked today and it wore me out. There are three of us groomers. We all had dogs to groom today. I got there and was told that one of the groomers isn't coming because she won't drive this far to groom two dogs. Ok, so I take her two. Then the owner said she needed me to do her daughters dogs as well because she didn't show up. So I had a bust my .... kind of day. I was fine with all the dogs...more $ for me. BUT, working on my third dog, a new client, it decided to try to bite. So, I get the muzzle out and try to put it on but before I could get it latched good he squirmed his way out of it and bit the snot out me. Three times. One thing you never do when a dog bites is jerk your hand out of his mouth. It was rip your skin versus puncture holes. You have to wait for the precise time you can pull away. He had bit me three good times before I could get my hand away. Six punctures on my hand and a huge hematoma like bruise 3 inches big. It was my right hand too. Hurt like hill. The owner helped me put the regular nylon muzzle on him and then we put a basket muzzle on top of that. I took it off to bathe and dry him but it went right back on when I got him back out to finish. The owner of course said, after the fact, that she meant to warn me that he may bite when doing his face or feet. Thanks for the heads up, thanks so very much.

Stretchy, I bought a Kabuki about the time they came out. It is a BEAUTIFUL piece of equipment, VERY heavy, clearly machined the way he does all of his equipment. Here was my take on it. The flavor WAS very good, but no matter how much I adjusted the airflow (very easy, one allen screw), or how high I cranked up the wattage it felt as if it just wasn't vaporizing up all the juice. It had a very "wet" vape, and I could verify that as I could pop out the tip and see quite a bit of unvaped juice. It was almost too wet for my tastes. Beyond that, I broke the glass tank numerous times. Never dropped it, just simply screwing the top and bottom together after replacing the head, it would crack the glass. After buying a few replacements, tried to BARELY tighten it down when assembling, literally just enough to keep it sealed, but it just seemed the parts were soo heavy (literally) they were far stronger than the thin glass tank. I stopped using it and it's on the shelf. Just my .02 on it. Hated to stop using it, as it was a beautifully crafted work of art, just not for me.

OK, I will find and post a simple "safe vaping" chart below, but I think you are missing some points which should DE-mystify this whole thing, and take all of the worry or uncertainty away.

First off, don't be scared off just because something is sub-ohm. Have you ever had, or seen a light/lamp that has different brightness settings (i.e. one click is 50w, two clicks is 100w, three clicks is 150w) ?? I've still got a few in the house, and it has three brightness settings and special bulbs. OK, just because the lamp CAN go all the way up to 150w doesn't mean I don't use it as the lowest setting. Same thing applies with all these RBA's, RDTA's, etc.

I know you've got some nice variable voltage mods, and that's great, you can CONTROL how many watts you want. If you DID switch to a rebuidable, or even a lower ohm setup, you could easily crank your volts (watts) DOWN as you see fit.

THIS will take even MORE pressure off of you. YOU are the boss ok ?? If you switch your setup, put it on a Provari, or a box mod like me, you start it out low say 5w. Probably won't put out much vapor, so you crank it up to 10w, and try again. Still not much vapor, move it up again. You'll find the sweet spot where your happy with flavor, vapor, or whatever you're looking for, and you just leave it there.

I run dual coils in my Steam Crave that together come out to .35 ohms (yes that's SUB-ohm), and I did exactly what I mentioned above ^^^, started low, and kept moving volts/watts up untill it was a little more than what I was getting out of my old carto setup. Easy Peasy. I'm probably only running it at 35w, and my mod will go up to 200w. I don't need that much, don't want it, don't use it. I think maybe you assumed just because you go to a sub-ohm, you HAVE to crank the volts/watts all the way up and cloud out the room. We'll just leave that for the cloud chasers.

Does my rebuildable taste better than my cartos ?? YES !!!! Does it make a lot more vapor ?? Yes, but mostly because I've moved away from PG, and much more VG in my mixes which makes more vapor, but YOU can decide what's best.

The ONE thing that I WILL stress (learned this the hard way, wasted a lot of juice) was I was flush with 18mg Copper Creek (and others) juice for my cartos and when putting it in my tank seemed quite a bit harsh, because I was getting more vapor, I had to back the nic waay down to like 3mg or 6mg. And a higher VG mix was smoother as well.

Many many Thanks. I couldn't get past thinking that if you have a sub ohm tank you have to sub ohm..In my head why else would they call it a sub ohm tank if you didn't have to sub ohm. Now I get it and I thank you. Also Thank You for the chart. I have no idea how to use it...So you saved my skin by explaining that I won't blow up if I take it slow and easy to the point where I like to Vape. I won't be vaping 200. Seriously I like to vape at 10w(I think because I've not gone above it) Now I will venture a little farther up the watts slowly say to 20.I'm nothing if not cautious. LOL Thank You for taking all the time you took to explain things.I know that took a while. I'm going to check out the Steam Crave.Hopefully I will have the same experience that you have with it...One more question..Please try not to slam your head on the desk....When you build a coil how do you know which gage and what wire to use? There's so many of them..Thank you so much for all the good information.I appreciate it.

Wow.. How could you stand to keep your hand in his mouth until the right time? This little parrot I have bites me and it hurts. I can't imagine 3 good dog bites.Hope it feels better soon. What an idiot owner.

The only thing to like from that is the extra money. The dog owner should be slapped. Oddly enough, you have to do the same thing with bites from big snakes. If you pull back, you get shredded, so you have to wait for them to release. Hope your hand isn't too sore, Tiff! And I trust that owner gave you a nice tip.

It wasn't really that long that my hand stayed in there. It was a fast little biter. He gave me no warning so I wasn't expecting it. If I'm warned by the owner or if the dog gives me a snarl or growl warning then it probably wouldn't have been so bad. When they bite it's like very quick and fast bites one after another. It let go when I took it by the scruff of the neck and hollered at him. I didn't hurt him, just got his attention.

It'll be fine in a couple of days. I doused it in hydrogen peroxide when it happened and putting antibacterial cream on it. Right now the swelling is on the top of my hand and the punctures are on that skin between the thumb and below the knuckle on my pointer finger. Nope, no apology and no tip. :grr: I told the shop owner that I will NOT do that dog again if they come back. I'm used to getting snarled at from some dogs but it's rare that you get bit like this if you are paying attention to the dogs body language. My personal rule is that if you draw blood I won't groom it again. I did get a $20 tip on another dog today. I love it when I get tips. :)

Yeah, THANKS for the heads up !!! Grrr............

...One more question..Please try not to slam your head on the desk....When you build a coil how do you know which gage and what wire to use? There's so many of them..Thank you so much for all the good information.I appreciate it.

NP Stretchy. Here's my reasoning for why I just use 24 ga. wire. I don't care about temp control, don't trust the TYPES of wires you have to use for that. I use plain Kanthal. I also wanted something rigid enough so when I pulled my cotton in / out it wouldn't deform the coil requiring me to shape it back into shape. 24 ga. seemed to be the best of all worlds. Not hard to coil, slightly stiff. I can change the cotton sometimes for 2 weeks before I feel the need to recoil and I never have to adjust the coils at all.

The wire gauge AND the number of wraps combined will give you the resistance. The more wraps, the higher the resistance goes. I ALWAYS use 7 wraps. Again, just my opinion but I wanted enough of a coil so that there would be good contact when the cotton is inserted. I tried 3-4 wraps but it just looked too small. As far as wraps go, you can play around, you're not going to bork it up, Smaller ones will give a faster heat up, bigger ones slower. Don't sweat exacting this as I've even had one side at 6 wraps the other at 7, just makes it uneven, but still vapes great. Matched is best just for making everything even.

I've seen people using very small wire like 30 ga. or smaller and it is either because they have such a small build deck, or they want to make micro coils or something.

I think the cotton can almost make more of a difference than the number of coils, resistance, etc. Because I always wrap the coils around a 30mm jig, always 7 wraps, and always 24 ga. it never changes, and I can cut a little strip of cotton the exact same size every time. You don't want the cotton to pull loosely through the coil and you want some resistance when you pull it through. Sometimes mine won't pull right through untill I spin it a bit, and then it goes through perfectly. Some resistance is good, but loose to no resistance as you pull the cotton through seemed to result in a lesser vape.

If you DO get the Steam Crave, watch a vid or two, and you'll see they cut the two tales short, and don't PACK it in the build deck, just fluff it up a bit, and just kind of loosely push the cotton in, covering all 4 holes (you'll see them). First few times I left the tails longer, and really had to PACK it in, and it choked off the air flow.

Again, sounds like a lot, but it's not, just minor trial and error.
