Just got back. Pried myself out of the car and made it to the computer. The family asked why we weren't staying for supper leftovers? I replied that I wasn't planning on eating again until tomorrow's supper time. Hope you all enjoy the day! :)

Dinner was amazing! Ian had one turkey smoked on the BBQ, and another roasted in the oven. Smashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, mac & cheese, roasted brussel sprouts, biscuits and a sort of corn spoon bread. dessert was 4 pies - apple crumb, pumpkin, peach, and coconut cream. I think at least 3 of us crashed for a bit in the corner of a sofa while the kids wrestled over the controls to the video games. :)

I have a ham in the oven, should feed me for a LONG time! Ian gave some leftovers to a friend of his, apparently the guy's mom doesn't leave her house. :( Plus Ian has 3 kids, so I never take leftovers home with me. The ham will be nice, I can make sandwiches and dinners for a while from that.

Oh, and shopping has gone well so far! I got Andy an Instant Pot, it was on sale on Amazon for almost half what I paid for mine! I'm waiting for the larger version to go on sale for Ian. I got Andy the 6qt version (same as mine), and Ian will get the 8qt version.

Turkey pot pie tonight. Tired of turkey already.

We had the same thing last night, and I had turkey sandwiches for lunch. And I am still not tired of turkey! I smoked a 21 lb. bird that had a HUGE breast, so we will be in turkey meat for a while. I'm thinking of freezing enough for more pot pies another day. I think this is the first time I've had pot pies with the meat from a smoked turkey, and wow they were good.

Drott, I hope the rats stay home today.

That sounds delicious Rick. I got a free 16# turkey with my points at the grrrstore. We'll probably fry it next week. I never get tired of turkey.

I am capable of getting tired of turkey, but it takes a lot. Many, many years ago I moved to a small town in a rural area. We were broke, and I mean BROKE. In the winter we couldn't afford to run the heating system, so we heated the house with a fireplace and a "heat-ilator" insert. After paying bills, I sometimes had less than $30 to buy groceries for two weeks. We would buy a turkey, and eat 5-6 dinners off it. Roast it, then use the leftovers to make pot pies, turkey-noodle casserole, you name it. Then make stock from the carcass and have turkey-vegetable soup. Everything with gravy, because flour is cheap and filling. In those days, I got tired of turkey. :D

I also learned I love winter squash, which was cheap as.... I think most winter squash was around 9 cents a pound (turkeys we could get for $0.19/lb.).

Oh, and when I could afford beer, it was Rainier (barf).
