Wow! This is crazy!
I for one am a patriotic American, and I will continue to vape my e cig in this great "free" country of ours!
I don't care what they say about it.
If a business owner asked me to not vape on their property then I would go elsewhere.
If a cop gives me a ticket for vaping??? Well then that's another story, time to call my lawyer.
but I will not stop just because someone says its illegal.
They do not even have the right to ban e cigs.

King County Mulls Plan to Ban Public Smoking of E-Cigarettes,
Despite the Fact that Almost Nobody Smokes Them

Be honest, if you had a dime for every time someone whipped out an "e-cigarette" at a bar, restaurant or other public place and subjected you to second-hand, electrically-vaporized nicotine mist, how many dimes would you have? Because I'd have zero.

I think many of us are now starting to see the "big picture"...
The "recent ruling" means nothing to the Anti E-cigarette Movement! (AEM)

How does government intervention get sold to citizens? First, publicize a “crisis” and warn that dire consequences will follow without some immediate changes. Push people into changing their choices voluntarily with social pressure and warnings of impending disaster. At some point, declare those efforts insufficient and propose government intervention as the only way to save people from themselves.

ESP is an acronym for Extrasensory perception (ESP)

In King County it will soon by an acronym for
the E-cigarette Smoking Police

The Anti E-cigarette Movement (AEM) is well organized
and they have an Excellent Network

The comments in the linked articles are very sad to read.
"but what scared me more was the talk about the different poisons found in the vapors, one being Propylene glycol. Propylene glycol can also be found in anti freeze so you be the judge? I wanted to invest in the e-cigs to try to quit smoking so I read as much as I could find. I am now planning on going to a hypnotist I figure that's better than inhaling toxins whether from cigs or the vapors of e-cigs."

kristin, I would like to see that, what venue? Who would he be speaking to?

Thanks,
Jeff~

I don't have an address just yet, but it's before the Board of Health meeting, which begins at 9:30am on 12/16. E-cigarettes are #9 on the agenda, so roughly midway through the meeting.

EACH SPEAKER GENERALLY GETS ONLTY 2 MINUTES. So, the more people we have there to speak, the better! If you don't want to speak, you can give written testimony. Written testimony must be submitted to Maria Wood via email (Maria.Wood@kingcounty.gov) by 5pm tomorrow.

If anyone can be there and speak, please let us know - we can assist you with writting your testimony!!

While no one really expected the antis to run with their tails tucked, it HAS had one huge result - they can't ban them outright. At least this proposed regulation is just for indoor use and not a total ban on sales to adults - just minors.

We always knew this would still be an issue and will have to be fought battle by battle. Even once there are studies proving the lack of danger posed by "second-hand vapor" we'll need to take that evidence before numerous boards and legislators.

The vast majority doesn’t smoke. Smokers don't have rights (we know that from 1st hand experience). E-smokers don't have rights. Anyone "smoking" anything doesn't or shouldn't have rights. If it looks like smoke then it can't be good.

Even if all the studies prove there are no health risks...The antis will continue attacking saying they don't believe the studies are accurate and use the slogan "Save the Children" from the Slippery Slope to tobacco...coupled with any other misinformation they can lay their hands on. Earlier today, I saw a web page stating E-cigarettes are Not “Green" stating the vapor could add to air pollution and poison landfills. So if it’s not "Green" then ban it.

At the center of the anti movement you will find highly charged “Emotions”. It’s a personal thing with them and not based on truth and science. I’m sure “power” to control what others are not allowed to do is a stimulant.

Unfortunately, many such battles are in store for us. Brings to mind what I heard Jonathan Emord say once in an interview. "Precious Freedoms...If you don't fight for them, you will loose them".

E-smoking will never be sociably accepted...At best only (reluctantly) tolerated.

PS: I've never attended any meetings protesting bans. At some point I would probably say...Were you born ignorant or did you take lessons? I know me...I've seen me say things like that before!

the attorney general for washington state already said that e cig's don't need to follow the no smoking ban. i guess they just can't leave it alone.

what real gets my goat about this is where does the county get off thinking they have more say than the state's attorney general on the matter legally I don't think they should have any right to do that in their county when on the state level says it's ok

I was sitting here reading this thread, and of course thinking that once one county or state passes something, others are sure to follow, so it does in fact affect us all. I'm glad Placebo Effect took some action. What can the rest of us do to help rather than just having a gripe fest on a forum? How can each of us help to educate our county, city, and state on vaping? Have there been any sound, adequate, controlled studies completed yet? If not, how do we move forward. If there is, does anyone have a link to share? I know there is several questions in this post, but they need asked.
My hubby put up a list of the county members emails involved in the ban on this thread

Thanks Kristen, I am putting something together to send in, but I think the deadline for communication must be sooner, as 5:00 PM tomorrow is much later then the meeting itself at 9:30AM.

Thanks,
Jeff~

I sent out an e-mail to the members.

Unfortunately, I imagine the measure will be presented in one big package, meaning that any Board of Health member who votes 'No' will also be voting against restricting e-cigarette sales to those 18 and over. This is essentially what happened in NJ. What started off as a bill to set age limits turned into a statewide ban on their use indoors.

It really sucks that, absent tens of thousands of dollars in lobbyist fees, it's seemingly impossible to add reasonable age limits without also getting the product banned in public places.

I sent in a load of a email and my Testimony to Maria Wood. It is just frustrating, I am no politico, but after watching this Bud Nicola on the news, I have to laugh, he just couldn't help himself, he keeps referring to second hand smoke. It's like he has done zero research or has put any original thought into enacting this ban. I think they just read the FDA cheat sheet and call it a day.

Kristen, I wish you luck in this effort, I have read your posts and listened to your BlogRado broadcasts, I applaud the effort and well thought out arguments you put forward on our behalf. I would have snapped long ago. ;)

here is a link to the news clip from King 5.
