Having owned this tank for the last couple of days and messing with it as you do, I have found a few tricks to save headaches along the line. It is IMO an amazing tank, I have upgraded from my very well beloved billow V2's.

Stiff juice control ring

When doing a build or re-wicking, it is in our nature to screw a chimney on, then put the tank over it and tighten. DON'T do this with the Goliath V2.

  1. Assemble the rest of the tank, including the chimney before covering the deck. Ensure that the juice control is in the 'off' postition i.e. where the small heart beat lines are.
  2. When you screw the remainder of the tank down, make sure you tighten with the top of it, i.e. the part with the drip tip attached. If you screw it down (again 2nd nature) with the bottom part of the tank, you won't be able to turn the juice control ring and it will be a ..... to open again when you need to fill/rewick.

Top fill.

It is possible to fill this tank from the top. Follow these steps:
  1. Close off the juice control.
  2. Unscrew the top of the tank, holding the remaining tank (easier if your mod is on a flat surface). The glass will stay put on the bottom o-ring, just make sure you don't knock it as it will come off. It is quite firmly seated though.
  3. Fill the tank, about .5 centimetres below the top small black o-ring
  4. Screw the top back on slowly
  5. Turn the tank upside down and open the juice control.
I've been doing this since I got it and haven't had a problem, apart from if you overfill then a little bit of juice will overflow out of the top.

I hope that helps fellow GV2 owners, if you have any other tips, please do share below

Good tips. I've been top filling mine since I got it, the squape style fill method just isn't for me. Regarding JC being stiff/stuck, I found basically if you tighten the upper tank part too much it will be really stiff.

Only tip I have to add is don't build your coils much bigger than 3mm ID, and stick to around 2.5mm if you want to make life easier on yourself.

The way it seems to be designed is definitely to have the bottom section a little loose from the deck, that's why I find it easier to tighten using the top as it tells me when to stop! :)

Yeah, 3mm is too frustrating. I tend to favour 2.5 or 2. Currently running an 8 wrap 24g kanthal on 2.5mm. Comes out at 0.3 and it's flavour/cloud central at around 45W. :w00t:

Hi there, just to share. What I do is I do bottom fill, lesser hassle. When im done, i turn the juice to off. Of course it is inverted now. I then stick the bottom (together with the mod, hence easier to hold) on top and screw while holding the pyrex glass. As you twist to tighten, the valve will open naturally. When it is tight, the valve will be wide open. U can now revert ya mod to upright position. To adjust, hold the ring with the goliath logo and twist holding the pyrex glass. This way, the tank is still fully secure. Without holding onto the ring with the log, u run a risk of unscrewing the tank and juicing yourself.

Another tip. It is a PITA to unscrew the top of the tank. What I do is wrap a rubber band a few times (some rounds on the pyrex glass, some on the top piece). This gives you friction which should allow you to easily remove the top piece, and you can wash your tank.

Last tip: sometimes the bottom piece (airhole) gets stuck to the mod. 2 ways I use. 1: insert a thin piece of metal, like a scissors, and make sure it reaches the other hole, or at least the bottom part of the coil. Then twist. 2. Use a door. I open the door, stick the bottom piece between the door frame and the door, close the door tight enough to hold the bottom piece and twist away. The only problem here is you might chip the paint off your door frame and cause a chip in your door.

+1 for the top fill method. This thing gave me fits until I figured that out. Could NOT remove the base without it coming apart at the tank and could not get the JC to budge. For whatever reason, filling from the top solved the problem. The lever through the air flow hole is a great idea for unscrewing the base, though, and filling from the bottom, you shouldn't have to close off the JC at all. However, other than being hard to grip, removing the top cap and filling from the top is working just fine. Haven't had to resort to slamming a door in it yet :) Now that I have it working, I really love this tank. Great flavor and surprisingly good vapor production in single coil mode. I'm gonna try it out with duals next to see if it improves the experience, but it will have to be a pretty big improvement to make it worth the trouble.
