There are two things we can safely say:
  1. It's better (healthier) not to vape than to vape.
  2. It's better (healthier) to vape than to smoke.
If you'd like to look at some of the science behind the second statement, you might start with this report by the UK's Royal College of Physicians.

My cardiologist prefers I vape over smoking for various reasons.
- No carbon monixide.
- No artery clogging.
- No oxygen replaced by said carbon monoxide.
- Feel better, therfore more excersize, which strengthens the heart.

In my family heart disease takes out nearly everybody. Nearly? Because nearly all are/were smokers. The non smokers live a good long life and die of old age.

Perhaps that is why heart disease runs in your family too.

I have heart disease and vape. My health has improved since I quit smoking and started vaping. My cardiologist and the cardiologist specialist both agree that vaping is healthier for me than smoking. Now that I'm vaping I have a chance of seeing more birthdays. That wasn't definite when I smoked.

Haven't heard vaping leads to heart disease, so far.

So someone I know, their dad recently died of a heart attack in his sleep. Heart disease also runs in my family. So i’m wondering, anyone in here vape with Herat disease or after a heart attack? And is vaping any better on your heart than cigarettes?

it doesn’t help. Nicotine temporarily narrows blood vessels which would be not good. In the case of someone with really advanced heart disease where the arteries are barely open at all, I could see it possibly causing a potential problem. Better Han smoking though? Hell yes. Smoke has all kinds of chemicals in it that are much worse.

Much better. Heart disease also runs in my family and I had a heart attack May 23, 2014. I wasn't vaping back then, and smoking two packs a day. After the hospital release I vaped exclusively for the next two years. I didn't have a rapid recovery because of associated factors such as diabetes, but CoQ10 and vaping helped so much my tech and doctor were impressed. So, vape away, and 300mg of Ubiquinol a day will give you great service!

I have a congenital heart defect; heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure also run in the family.

When I was around 6 to 12 years old I had to go to the hospital once a month for it. They had testing done on my parents and family too.

I can't give anything definitive or scientific, only anecdotal; but since I started vaping i've felt a lot more heart healthy. Feel stronger and more energetic too. The clearest sign is my apnea has gotten a lot better. And we know that apnea is really bad for the heart. I could feel myself getting weaker from lack of oxygen when my heart problems would pop up, but that doesn't happen anymore. My last big issue was fainting when we had a heat wave, but that hasn't happened since I made the switch to vaping.

Die of old age? Who wants to? I lost a grandfather to lung cancer in his 60's he was in pain for about a month before he went. My wife lost both of her parents to cancer in their late 50' (mom) early 60's (dad) both of whom only suffered for about a week. On the other hand I have lost 2 great grandmothers and a grandmother to old age in their late 80's early 90's. They each suffered for well over a year with bones so brittle they broke just from shifting their weight in their chair. It made me so angry that we couldn't do anything to ease their suffering. Dying of old age? Hell no, please take me sooner than that. The funny thing about life is, no matter what we do, no matter how clean we live, no matter what precautions we take, NOBODY gets out alive. As for me, I want to go before I end up in a nursing home.

I think if there is any risk with nicotine it would be cardiac, and kind of more "slight narrowing of the veins and arteries, but like, not so much deposits like tar and whatnot. May also be a slight stimulant, so that COULD have an effect?

I'd say talk to your cardiologist about it, and read some of the research.

I will say, heart disease runs on both sides of my family. I might suggest trying to keep your nicotine on the lower side, if you can, and even still you probably should talk to a doctor, if you have a knowledgeable one.

I'd also say, if vaping is the only way you can stop smoking and stay stopped, well, it's certainly better than smoking. Etc.

I am more afraid of COPD (which I almost achieved prior to vaping) than a heart attack which in my eyes is probably a nicer way to go, although nowadays they have all these fancy smanchy ways of keeping you alive, returning you from the brink of death, surgeries etc. etc.

But, this is something only you can decide, honestly although I think it's great you are asking the question and all.

I started vaping 9 years 2 months and 2 days ago. In the 12 years before that, I had been hospitalized 6 times for heart trouble (3 stints and 3 angioplasty for clogged stints and had one place they couldn't fix). Each time I really tried to quit smoking, but always wound up back at square one smoking as much or more than before. About 6 months after vaping, I had angina that hurt so bad I thought it was a heart attack and I went to the ER. Doc said to take a couple of nitros. I did and all was well. Cardiologist thought it would be good to do an angiography. He did and popped a balloon in one stint for a slight buildup of plaque. His observation was that my heart seemed to be healing itself, and he wondered why. I knew how much my breathing had improved and I was able to walk more. I have 6 month checkups and biannual stress tests. Nothing has been found and I get a clean bill of health each time. Cardiologist shows me as a nonsmoker and says that most patients that quit smoking don't show the recovery that I did. I don't have any proof, but I really believe that there is something in the vape that is actually good for the body (who knows maybe the PG).

I suspect that vaping is the lesser of evils when compared to nicotine consumption as compared to smoking. Only decades of testing would probably confirm. I have read positive and negative articles (examples):
E-cig study says vaping has no negative health effects on myocardial functions
Hey guys!

The article below is particularly offensive because PHD's are lending credence that since tobacco contains nicotine, that all e liquid should be classified as a tobacco product:
