PS that hole really is off on the single deck
Nice! Where does Smog ship from? Cali? I'll have it Tuesday-ish probably....
pictures please.............or it never happenedMy tank arrived this morning. My initial impressions:-
It came clean, no sign of oil anywhere. I stripped it down and gave it a clean anyway, I always do with new equipment. Great bag of spare o rings screws coils and tools needed for a build. The supplied coils are tiny 1.5 mm and they stayed in the bag(who uses coils that small?)
When trying to reassemble it I had a bit of trouble getting the o ring that fits on the glass barrel to stay in place when I screwed it together. The o rings are a fairly loose fit and need to be lubricated so that they don't grab as you screw the tank together. Anyway I got it back together eventually with the o rings seated properly.
The threads are a little rough on most of the device. They screw together ok but it's not what you could call buttery smooth.
I decided to change to the dual coil deck, it wasn't hard to change over but I did have to massage to o ring around the base in to position as it was a tight fit. Again a bit of lubrication was required to get it to fit.
I threw a quick 28AWG dual coil build in, 3 mm coils 10 wraps per coil to give a 1.1 ohm resistance. As I've never had an atty with a deck like this and haven't had to wick in to 4 different juice channels my first attempt was a non starter, I left the wicks short as I've seen this done with other atty's to prevent leaking. The flavour from the saturated wicks was brilliant but they dried out pretty quick at 40 watts. Attempt number two has proved successful and I'm blowing clouds and getting great flavour. You just have to stuff the wick ends in the channels and right down to the deck. Good luck trying to fit the wick holding ring back on with 4 saturated wick ends and e juice all over the place. That ring has gone straight back in the box, you don't need it. I've left the juice control wide open as the e liquid I'm using is fairly thick. No leaks at all so far.
Next thing to try will be a temp control build if I can get two coils in there with the right resistance.
For the price this is a great atomiser/tank, buy one I don't think you will regret it.
I'm just looking for a new tank similar to a kayfun 4. It looks like it has similar things about it. I'm just looking for a vape like that. I got my first sub ohm tank (triton) and not a fan of sub ohming I think ;( I like the more restricted vape, not so much of a mouth to lung but a restricted lung hit. I have my K4 with the s kit.
I have used the Ubertoot and it is very similar to the Kayfun, but much better flavour IMO. Lots of good things said about it. Quite strange design to wick, but after watching a few videos, managed it. Only problem with it is that it only comes with a plastic and stainless steel tank, no glass.I'm thinking the Cthulhu is probably not what you're looking for. Single coil and restricted lung hit?
Taifun GT2, GS2 or GSL
Lemo
Rose v2 (maybe. I do a restricted lung hit, but its a little tight)
Ubertoot v2 clone
Mini Buddha
Hurricane
...my only qualm was the ring designed to keep the cotton down became a little challenging to screw down once i'd juiced up the cotton. (it would have been nice if the atty came with a spare 'wicking ring', maybe one for each deck because i'm certain i'll loose mine its just so small)
I don't have mine yet, but that's similar to what I was thinking....Just a thought, would it not be better to put the ring on before wetting the cotton? I think the idea of it is to avoid having to 'mould' the cotton into place, the ring does that for you. Then wet it down?

Yeah, I'm the same. I like to see my weird coloured juices! And I like fruit/citrus so plastic is a no go. I guess you could use the metal if using temp control, but something doesn't sit right with me not being able to see what's inside!Yer I really wanted to get a Ubertoot as i like to MTL during the day but I hate plastic tanks.... and I never got the point of metal tanks like if you can't see how much juice is in there are you just meant to wait to get dry hits?
Ah, didn't realise it was threaded. Good point. As for the idea of just using the wicking ring to push the cotton into place i dont think that would work, the largish threading would just catch on to the cotton to no end and get stuck in the threading and possible pulling the cotton out of the coil, maybe if all the deck threading was 10/10 but on mine its more like 7/10. i'll give it a go some time but for the time being nothing is allowed to disturb this flavor chucking build!
