Roxy, don't think that's at all unusual for a new vaper. But I don't think it needs be altogether to do with the nic level ingested. We can be hyper-sensitized to anything we consume by stress and anxiety…as by suddenly realizing we just went through a bunch of juice! And yes, it can be accompanied by elevated BP, nausea, headache, etc. if you get there (and mebe really did). Had an incident similar to yours in the first couple of weeks vaping. Realized it, was calm, but my body thought otherwise. Then a few days later went through a good part of a 12mg, 30ml bottle of Tribeca in just constantly vapin' all evening at low power (<10W, eVic))…no problems… and loved it. Still, an episode persists with symptoms multiplying or with acute pain at any time, I'd be lookin' to see an MD. There may be other issues accounting for the sensitivity.

Good luck!

:)
Thanks for this - also really helpful. Wondering though... I vape way less than I originally smoked a few weeks back, so how come I had this feeling with the vape, and never when I chain smoked regular cigs?

I get now that the lower the nicotine, the more I (personally) can vape. The issue is I'm still having cravings for regular cigs, and worried this will intensify if I lover the nic level too soon....

I still have cravings here and there for a cigarette, and it's been over a year that I've been vaping. If you have a smoke here and there it's not the end of the world it's a big adjustment. But to want to be craving free after a few weeks you're putting a lot of unneeded pressure on yourself, just think about the ones you haven't smoked not the ones you have.

Suggestion. Our bodies are reactive when encountering a new environment, circumstance. It's important to pay attention whenever we try something new. Whether food, drink or juice. Also to make a mental note, or in writing, about the details we discover in our reactions. If you're an athlete, it's a developed skill. As we get older it's helpful to know what we're likely to experience. And it could be something as simple as fighting off an infection that can trigger sensitization. Always good to have an understanding doc tho if you suspect something more. I do fortunately, and they've been wonderfully supportive and eager to share, contribute to my progress. Not to worry 'bout chaining but always good to be cautious with new juices, nic levels or gear.

Good luck Roxy. :)

Yep, well, I did the same thing.

I have found two vaping styles. The first is taking a few draws to satisfy a nic need. The other is lower nic level, but taking more draws just for the flavor or for making clouds.

If you are in the second group, I would lower the nic content. I have a lot of RTAs running at once, so I can have different nic levels available at the same time.

Hope helps

Really helps, yes. And when you say lower nic levels, what are you referring to? I'm on 6mg right now, so possible a 3mg for chilling on and a 12mg for getting the nic in a few tokes? Thanks.

Cold Norway
before feeling violently nauseous and feverish

Yep. That's how it feels for me. And my saliva glands brew up some of that special kind of pre-vomit spit.

Not a pleasant feeling. No big deal, tho. Nic is absorbed more slowly when you vape, compared to cigs. Still, you'll get used to how the early symptoms feel. For me it's a good thing. "That's it, I've had my fix". Gives the vape sessions a feeling of closure/enough - rather than chain vaping all the time.

I've heard that many people have juices of different nic levels. I know that at breakfast, with my coffee, I like to vape more. Also, when watching TV I vape more. But during the day, I need it fast because I don't have the time.

Now...I am at 3mg, down from 24mg, so nic isn't really as important. I do have habits though.

I would advice against going to a full double nic amount, but going a bit higher for when you want to feel the nic after just a few hits would be good. The 3mg for hanging out and just vaping away should work well.

Another thing I want to add on top of staying hydrated is to stay fed. Some days I have crap appetite and don't eat for a long time. One day I went to pick up some supplies at the B&M and hadn't eaten in hours. On the drive back I was puffing away and I started feeling nauseous and threw up very short after. I've never had a reaction like that after not eating for a while, so IMO vaping a little too much on too empty of a stomach can lead to similar feelings.

Oh, sorry, I'm using the Totally Wicked Curve from totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk with 6mg Vanilla liquid.
The Curve is what everyone else knows as the iStick but what tank/atomiser are you using?

Also, what is the resistance in ohms (Ω) of the coil in the tank and how much power (watts) are you putting through the device?

Oh, one other thing - totally wicked are way overpriced ;)

Yeah... also it seems the nic hits you after a lot longer than a regular cigarette would. I would feel satisfied after a couple of seconds with cigs, with the e-cig I should be more patient!

Once in a great while I will get nic sick. Usually chain vaping mindlessly. Normally I get the nic hiccups before the nic sick starts in. That is my personal clue that I am overdoing it. If I ignore the first sign (hiccups) and keep mindlessly vaping, I will get the nausea and light head feeling.

On the other thread, you were asking about upping nic to cut the craving. Now you are getting nic sick on the same liquid. Not sure how to advise you at this point. :(

I know! On the one hand, I'm trying to stay as far away from cigs as I possibly can, but on the other... I really don't want to experience that 'nic sick' again. I think the solution is this... Try drinking more water and stick to what I'm doing. I will get a lower liquid if I want to vape for a while, and a higher one if I'm craving a cig too badly. Fingers crossed!

Yes, a little similar to cigs in that way I guess - smoking on an empty stomach is never good I suppose. Thanks for this. :)
