I smoked like a chimney before, so naturally, I now vape quite a bit. I usually take a big hit every minute or so. My girlfriend insists that I'm doing it too often, but I haven't felt the nausea that normally comes with too much nicotine, like I used to when I chain smoked more than a few fags. Am I vaping too much? If not, at what point does it become too much? If so, how much should I slow down?

I'm a chain vaper, pretty sure I vape more than I smoked in a day. I started out with 18mg of nicotine, and am now down to 12 because I switched to a rebuildable tank and a higher wattage mod, and that 18 was killing me. You would know if it was too much…trust me, you would know. If you feel fine, you are fine.

That said, depending on how much nicotine is in your juice, if you don't feel satisfied, you could up your nic level. If it's just the physical act of vaping and blowing the vapor out that you like and that makes you chain vape, I think that is OK too.

If you're not nauseous and twitching out of your skin, it's not too much! It takes a lot of chain vaping at first for some of us, to be able to disregard that voice in the head that says hey it's time for a smoke. :D After a while, you get over that urgency, and you can scale it back to something calmer.

Also, if you want to vape less often but still be satisfied, then higher nic wouldn't hurt. I do that now, but at first I really needed to chain vape, so I had to stick with 6-8mg.

EDIT: and I 2nd the idea of the post just above mine. When my husband, at first, says "you sure do that a lot... like, all the time"... I said, at about 100 dB, "WOULD YOU RATHER I WENT BACK TO SMOKING?!?!??!?!" He said no no no, and he shut the hell up, and hasn't said a word about it since. :D

I just had a funny memory... a couple months ago, my husband and I went over to do some little "honey do's" for my aunt, who's elderly. She wanted to know why I had one mod in my hand and one in a lanyard pouch around my neck. :D I told her, the one around my neck is my tobacco flavored, which is my actual substitute for smoking. This one (in my hand) is blueberry muffin, and tastes much better, so at this point, I'd really rather vape it instead of tobacco... but at that point I was still changing over, so I didn't want to get far from the tobacco vape at all -- if I left the house, I wore it around my neck in that lanyard pouch, "just in case!"

Last week I finally dumped that tobacco flavored which had been in the kayfun for over a month, because I hadn't vaped it at all in about 2 wks. I never saw it coming, but I sure don't like that taste (tobacco!) anymore!

The thing is with vaping is that it's awesome. It gives so much without asking anything back in return other than a little love on a coil and wick every now and again. The thing about girlfriends is they ask a lot in return for a little and there is always another one out there. There are 3,418,059,380 women in the world according to a simple google search. Assume half are married, of the single ones, 1/4 of those are too ugly to date, 1/4 will think your too ugly to date which leaves you with 845 million women to pick from. One of them has to put up with you, your vaping and your your other personal quirks. Sound like pretty good odds doesn't it? Well it isn't because the odds of you finding a woman who will put up with all your stuff is roughly equivalent to you hitting the PowerBall numbers 52 weeks in a row. So vape a little less. Think of it like finding the right dose of medicine, find the point that will kill you then back it off one. Then she won't complain.

Whatever it takes to keep you from smoking, go for it. My daughter and I quit smoking cold turkey around 8 years ago. Around 2 years ago, stress was really making the idea of going back to smoking really tempting for us. My daughter had heard about ecigs somewhere, we tried a couple of disposables to see if vaping would help quell the urges, and the rest is history. We are still very happy ex-smokers. Sometimes we chain vape (stess is still alive and kicking at our house), but we do not smoke. My daughter's boyfriend is another ex-smoker, but he is more casual about vaping. He has not said one word to my daughter or me when he sees us vaping up a cloud due to stress. He seems to have accepted that that is how we are, and I think he is happy that smoking is not an issue.

I am not going to lie. I tend to chain vape a lot. Many times I gotta have a couple of puffs every 5 min or so. Other times i sit there for like 20 min just hitting on it. Then I put it down for 5-10 min. Then pick it up again. lol. This is on nic levels ranging from 12 to 36 mg. lol. I do know if I have enough. Them little cramps from the nic tell me so. lol. When I go to sleep I got a habit of vaping until I am at the point where I am ready to pass out. i got issues sleeping normally anyways. I can't get to sleep without the nic. The nic also sometimes keeps me up a bit. So this is the option that works best. I do it usually while I lay in bed and read. Most of the time it works out well. I am careful though. If I feel those cramps, I tend to stop. It is funny how with nic for the point to put you to sleep that it can either come before the cramps, after or some point in between. lol. Ok I am not setting a good example here. I tend to vape more then I smoked. lol

I can't agree with the people saying your vaping habit is more important than your girlfriend....

I can't agree that sucking nonstop all day is 'good'. Better than a cigarette, but not really good.

If your thought is that vaping is a get out of jail free card from all the bad parts of cigarettes, then you're lying to yourself.

A few possible tests:
- Try vaping for a bit on 0mg Nic and see if it is the habit or the chemical addiction you are feeding.
- Try, just try, setting your vaporizer down and not touching it for 30 minutes... to see how your body reacts.

I'm not syaing you're doing it too much, but this is the time when you need to decide if you are using vaping as a cessation method or as a replacement addiction.

Or he could just find a new GF. They ALL complain, about SOMETHING. Find one that understands that given a choice between smoking, or vaping too much, vaping too much is still lightyears better for you -- and that it's NOT all about HER.

If he chose one of those "too ugly to date," she'd be so grateful, maybe she wouldn't complain at all. :D Or at least maybe she'd understand that the whole world isn't about HER. :D

What difference does it make? If he's not smoking, then however he gets there, his GF should support him -- or else she doesn't really care about him at all.
