I knew that NJ was the first state to ban e-cigs in public places but I wanted more information before we went out last night so I did a search on it. I had no idea NJ had this group Electronic Cigarettes Their "white paper" on e-cigs contains a lot of old studies and some of the links don't work. I was floored reading this....

E-cigarette websites have posted descriptions of how the e-cigarette is "smoked" and creates a "smoke" (see
GASP's white paper for details), therefore admitting that the product is in fact "smoked". Since the product is 'smoked' and creates a 'smoke' according to e-cigarette websites, e-cigarettes should not be permissible for use in public places and workplaces where smoking is banned.

I guess suppliers/vendors etc. need to be careful with the terminology but I am also naive enough to be taken aback that organizations will fight so hard against this alternative method to smoking. It is extremely frustrating!!

Yeah, scam vendors and vendors using poor descriptions have added fuel to fire for those who wish to ban everything they don't like, use, or understand. Of course big tobacco and big pharmaceutical companies have a lot of money at stake and they have a really bad habit of lying to everyone and buying politicians. Given the track record of those big companies, they will stop at nothing to try and stop anything they view as a threat to their bottom line. Of course sheep will follow, they tend to ignore any facts that don't conform to their predrawn conclusions.

every member of ECF should join and support CASAA (as the OP has)

Just click on the banner at the bottom of this post.

Agreed! I did send an email to them, as well as the Senator who is mentioned as supporting the e-cig ban, to point out a few errors (like the Michigan study that doesn't work) and the fact that the website they reference saying they admit e-cigs are smoking no longer has that information, but actually has a page on what is vaping. If it's still there, I asked them to provide a link or else they need to update that information.

There are so many things out there to go after - alcohol, texting while driving, etc., etc. - I don't get why there is such a fight against something that is a healthier alternative to what you know is dangerous. Then I realize that it comes down BT, money, politics, etc. and it makes me angry. Everyone needs to get involved, we can't hope that someone else does the fighting for us.

Very true words---------->We can't hope that someone else does the fighting for us.
Use your anger constructively. We need to get more people i.e. new vapers, older vapers, on board to help by doing what you are doing. :toast:

Big Pharm (BP) is the bigger problem of the two (BP & BT). But your conclusion is "spot on"!!

All up in your grill..
Oddly enough the reverse won't work. For example if everyone started referring to firearms as tomatoes. And smith and wesson had a sale on semi automatic tomatoes on their website the legal status of firearms in NJ would not be changed. You would not suddenly be able to buy guns in the produce aisle. This is NOT the fault of even the WORST vendor and is in fact a fine example of intellectual dishonesty and malevolence from your state's leadership. You can thank Frank Lautenberg and the rest of his sleazy, prohibitionist, ilk for this. I find it hard to believe that anyone accomplished enough to become a law maker could be this ignorant of basic science. So it's pretty obvious that there are some veiled agenda's at play.

I left NJ many years ago, as I felt it was becoming an Orwellian police state. I saw this coming before e-cigs were first marketed. Can't say I miss the place either. If I were you I'd relocate to someplace warmer and where the citizens are less likely to elect nanny's. That's what I did and I have never been happier.

Would love to but not going to happen with my 81 y/o Dad 3 blocks away and teenager who loves his school. Someday, absolutely....I can't wait for that day. But not now. :/
