The first hit on my first eGo, something clicked in my brain and I KNEW I could do this instead of smoking.

That's pretty awesome. I was hoping for a similar thing but did not get such and trying to let people know that even if they don't just keep at it. vaping is still a god send.

I didn't quit the first puff, but I knew it was possible. I think I had become fatalistic in my thinking, and the pv flipped that switch. :)

[sorry I didn't read all the thread :( ]

Yes, an e-cigarette will help you stop cigarettes better than anything else, we have enough proof of this. Works even better than Snus, and a whole lot better than pharmaceuticals of course.

The Allen Carr organisation apparently has a success rate of 53% for their quit programme, but I don't know any details. E-cigs work for a minimum of 31% and that is when unmentored. We think that with good mentoring, 75% or even 80% success is possible.

Some people need more than just the nicotine, though, and they are helped by using Snus as well. I think this will be of value, especially at first, to those who still experience strong cravings - since they obviously need more than nicotine.

In some cases people switch to an e-cig without really meaning too. That's what happened to me, I never wanted to quit or intended to quit, mainly because I enjoy smoking and only smoke (or smoked, that is) a few a day. Then one day I realised I hadn't smoked in a long while :)

It might be important to some, though, depending on their local political situation mainly, to point out that e-cigarette use can be regarded as switching to an alternative reduced-harm product, not quitting. There is a lot of argument about this since we all feel differently about it - but many of us regard e-cig use as 'switching' not 'quitting'.

Yes, vaping really does help to quit smoking. I smoked ~1.5 packs a day for 37+ years and quit smoking with my first vape. I never expected it to work as well as it did; I was stunned, actually.

Well compared to all other cessation or replacement methods the "ease", at least for many, really does make sense if you think about it. Vaping pretty much covers all the bases from the nicotine addiction to the see and feel of inhaling and exhaling something to the whole hand-to-mouth, doing something thing. And from there it's cheaper, tastes and smells infinitely better and is even fun especially if you like gadgets and fiddling with things.

There are those that would consider continuing to be dependent on inhaled nicotine as not having 'quit' smoking per se.

Personally, I was unhappy with the expense and inconvenience of smoking at a time when i happened to have a small bit of discretionary income that I could use to try out a new technology. I've smoked much fewer cigarettes since then (tended to smoke about half a pack of Camel 100s a day, now I'm down to less than one a day) and am happy with the effects it has had on other things (Responses to me in social situations, breath support while playing brass instruments, etc).

Maybe it was due to the strength of the camels, but recently I've noticed that when I came in after having a cigarette, people would start coughing left and right. That has been rectified since trying the e-cigarettes.

I may be stupid for saying so, but I'm not looking at them as a way to 'quit' smoking but rather a way to get the nicotine I'm dependent on in a safer and less smelly way for myself and those around me.

You are correct and this easily gets lost or missed. Some moreso than others (and there are some zero nic folks) but most of us are just a battery charge or some type of ban away from being full time smokers again.

I smoked 2 packs a day for 37 years and when I got my ego my aim was just to cut back on my smoking.Since the third day I found that I did not have any desire to have a cigarette, at all.
It has been more than 8 months since I first used my eGo and I haven't smoked at all!
Not one single cigarette.

I ordered a Blu and an eGo the same day. I got the Blu first and vaped for 30 minutes, then the battery died. My impression was that it was better than anything else I had tried(patches, gum, lozenges), but I wasn't quite sure if it would get me off of cigarettes. The thought of charging batteries every 30 minutes to an hour and the lack of vapor and throat hit were a bit discouraging, I received my eGo the next day. I charged the battery and after 30 minutes of vaping, I took my 3/4 full pack of cigs and ran them under the faucet then put them in the trash. I sent the Blu back for a refund and I haven't had a single puff off an analog for 4 months. I've also gotten 17 eGo kits for friends and 3/4 of them have quit, a few have gone back to smoking because they think it's a hassle to order all the time, and a couple have cut down to just a few cigs a week.

Hi All, i am just curious, does vaping really helps to quit smoking.
...

No. Vaping doesn't help you quit smoking.

Wanting to quit smoking is the Only thing that works.

e-Cigs can ease the pain of quitting but if you don't want to quit, I mean , Realy want to quit, you won't. You end up just doing both. Smoking and Vaping.

I started vaping in March with mixed results. I upgraded my hardware in early June and I haven't smoked a full pack per day since (PAD smoker for a little over 20 years). I'm down to about 5 per day now, which is more a hobby than a habit.

I quit smoking cold-turkey for 3 months about 2 years ago and it was disastrous, so I'm OK with not being totally analog-free right now. I definitely prefer vaping to smoking now, so I figure one of these days it just won't occur to me to have an analog.

You say that like its a bad thing to reduce smoking.

If the goal is to quit completely, then it could be a bad thing to some.

If you smoke a pack a day, try to quit by using e-Cigs, now smoke and pack a day PLUS vape. Well that might be a bad thing also.

I think ANYTHING you do that Significantly Reduces the number of analogs a person smokes is a Very Good thing.

I don't agree completely, I started vaping a little over a month ago and had absolutely no intention of quitting analogs, in fact I wasn't even thinking about it, I just ordered that 510 because I thought it would be interesting to try. After I got my eGo I just didn't feel the need to smoke analogs anymore, as long as you can find that sweet spot that gives you the right combination of convenience, throat hit, vapor production why would you want to trade delicious fruity flavors for burning tobacco taste?

Maybe that's why it worked for me though because I wasn't trying to replace smoking by vaping, I didn't over think it, it just happened.
