Does vaping really helps to quit smoking?

one more thing Id like to add I had a major pot problem all so had been to treatment 7 times with and still could not give it up! I was in treatment when I met a guy vapeing then I thought Id try that to stop my analogs and I know they were my street dope and wow Iv not had any of that stuff with no cravings at all sine July 2010 so vapeing has done so much to help me move on and get healthier! SO vape ON PEOPLE I know that this is just the way I see things and other people are different but im doing this for me no one else!

I wasn't even considering quitting smoking and one day, after encouragement from my daughter I bought a disposable.....that was 2 months ago, and I have not used an analog since! I was a pack a day smoker for 30 years and thought there was absolutely no way I could ever quit. This amazes me. Have I saved money?? heck no, not yet, but I will, and what's better is my health, even the hubby says the $ isn't so important.

I think it has a lot to do with the mindset that you have when you start and the device you start with. I have seen a few people try ecigs only to stop using them after a week. Personally, I have not touched analogs since I received my first kit in December. I don't think I have saved much money due to the amount of liquid and different model ecigs that i have purchased. That being said I would rather vape than smoke any day.

I'll throw in my 2 cents here also. It's been 9 days since I started vaping. I can honestly say that I haven't had the urge once to light up an analog. I have a really cheap e-cig but it works and thats all that matters (but a better 1 on it's way-sweet!). When smoking, I had to use a asthma inhaler at least 2 times a day for congestion and wheezing. For the last 2 days I have't had to use it at all. Personally I hated the taste of cigarettes for a long time, and the smell offended my wife constantly (she's a non smoker). So, I feel a lot better, smell a lot better and am trying to spread the word to anyone who will listen. That includes my brother in law who thinks my e-cig is silly. LOL @ him who is still a pack a day smoker.

I figure I've avoided around 100 analogs so far and that in itself is pretty dam amazing. Cheers and good luck

UPDATE...

It's day two... took my last vape about 30 minutes ago, and I figure it's time for another. It's all good because I haven't had an analog since this past Saturday when my VP arrived. I figure I'll let that 1/2 pack of Marlboro Smooth Menthols sit in the drawer until the end of the week. I'm showing them who's boss!

I've been vaping 6 days now with zero urges to smoke a cigarette...I keep a pack of smokes on my computer desk still in the plastic wrap as a parachute (I'm looking at them right now as I type this)...though lately they're becoming a symbol of "what the hell was I thinking...25 yrs, really?". As a now ex-smoker, I know a lot of smokers (ya, misery loves company, lol) and I now vape while they smoke, It's hard to not come across as some kinda religious convert nut job (no offence to the faithfull) but I'm gonna do what I can to make them see the light.

I don't push at all. I've had a couple give me that funny look as I'm outside vaping at the smoke spot at work. They ask about it... say that they need to get one... I tell them how I got mine and that I'll send them some information. Haven't sent anything yet. Maybe I'll get an email out of the blue one day from someone serious and then I'll know that I have my pigeon.

Elevates heart rate; ........; difficulty sleeping; dry mouth; joint pain; muscle pain; nervousness; sweating; weakness; headache; shortness of breath; difficulty breathing... let's not kid ourselves of this. It is better than analogs but there are possible side effects.

This list might be more applicable to smoke than nicotine; sometimes reports mix them up as though they are the same.

I bought my first kit without the thought of using this thing to quit smoking. I'm now in my 3rd month without an analog and without a bit of suffering. Once I had my wife's lasagna at about week 3 and I was able to taste the mozzarella cheese, the pasta, the meat, the sauce, the deliciousness I knew I had made a good decision. That said, if I was someplace without access to a pv but access to analogs I'd probably smoke them. I know they would be history as soon as I had access to a pv.

Just my 2 cents, but vaping is more of an alternative to smoking, you will stop smoking, but you are merely replacing putting one thing in your lungs with another thing. It is still putting something foreign in your lungs, but it at least removes the effects of smoking (the crappy feeling, and the wheezing).

Not at all a fair assessment.

The replacement is of hundreds of chemicals, many definately toxic, with just a few, all 'generally regarded as safe' (with the small caveat that flavorings are not normally breathed in to such an extent) plus nicotine.

Nicotine in and of itself is not even an overly dangerous drug aside from the addictive properties. ...

While smoking is fiendishly addictive, there are reasons to believe that nicotine alone is much less so. Once one has been vaping for some time (months), cutting down the nic is not too difficult, if one wishes to do that.

Making the switch has been a huge win for me. The first time I tried this I went with the 18mg prefilled cartomizers and struggled. They tasted terrible, I was having horrible nic fits and my throat felt like I'd swallowed sandpaper. I read through the forums for hours gathering information. When I was done, I got blank cartos and ordered some 70pg/30vg 24mg liquid. That did it. No more nic fits and no more scratchy throat. You couldn't pay me to pick up an analog now. For me, the benefits have been astounding. I can keep up with my kids and not run out of breath, I can make the dozen or more morning treks up and down the stairs without getting winded, my sense of smell has improved (now that I don't smoke I understand why my non smoking friends moved so far away when I'd light up) I can actually taste the more subtle flavors in the food I eat. And it just keeps getting better.

The carbon monoxide in smoke causes degradation of red blood cells; and beyond that the free-redical burden on the body from a multitude of the combustion products is great. Vaping avoids all that.

Im at the end of day 4 without an analog (Im trying not to count the days)
It most defiantly helps, but I am still going crazy. All it takes is a good PV and some self will. And maybe an quit smoking app

Some friends, a forum and a few 'distractions' (like a drum kit) can all assist too ;)

Most of these could affect anyone on any given day whether they are affected by nicotine or not. Diet probably has more of an impact on conditions like that than nicotine does.

This list might be more applicable to smoke than nicotine; sometimes reports mix them up as though they are the same.

Yeah, I don't know many friends who chew tobacco that suffer from shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. One is asthmatic, but thats a separate issue. :) And then compare the above side effects to some of the more serious side effects of drugs like Chantix:

behavior changes; chest pain; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations; memory loss; new or worsening mental or mood problems (eg, aggression, agitation, anger, anxiety, depression, nervousness, thoughts of hurting other people); persistent trouble sleeping; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; seizures; severe or persistent nausea; suicidal thoughts or actions; vision changes

I think I'll take Relatively Safe Nicotine for 500, Alex.

Every new drug commercial that hits the airwaves has a list of side effects a mile long like that. Not simple stuff like 'joint pain' or 'weakness' either, but serious side effects that can really screw you up. Even 'Risk of Heart Attack or Death' is becoming a common side effect on new drugs. And the FDA demonizes Nicotine. That makes a lot of sense.

I think that if keeping the analogs on hand makes you feel better about vaping, you should not worry about it at all. Every cigarette that you do not smoke is a victory.

Sorry, I have to disagree. You'll feel much better for yourself once you have no analogs at hand. You can always see smoking friends or go to a shop if you needed analogs. If you stopped analogs, no need to keep unless you are keeping a keep sake of an unopened and unwrapped one.
