Mason (and I think someone else, too):
Not being a douch, but that's why I had recommended buying the stock riva kit and Boge 2ohm cartomizers.
Added benefit: you have a couple atty/cartridges (from the riva kit) to try other people's juices.....

go get it. you'll like it.

well i figured since everyones saying cartos are better, (or at least easier) i might as well go ahead and skip attys all together.

New vaper here, just started earlier today. Riva 510-T with 700mAh battys, and I'm placing another order this weekend for regular attys and carts, maybe a few cartos. But I'm loving the tanks and the bigger batty. I think it's a real good place to start.

Just a little over 12 hours in and I love it! Been sipping Jack Daniels Single Barrel and vaping cherry from Vermont Vapors, and I'm enjoying it far better than I ever enjoyed the CAO Cherrybomb Cigars or pipe tobacco! Also, the VT Vapor Clove is a very good exchange to Djarium Blacks. They both have very good TH that reproduce a good TH from tobacco use. Makes for a fairly easy switch.

and i couldnt try other juice with cartos? i thought you could fill them pretty much the same way??

No, you can use cartos for trying flavors, and you can clean them. I prefer not to, myself.

Carto's have the filler (that holds the juice) stuck in there, and it's a pita to wash out. Atties are much easier to clean(rinse under warm water, blow out with your mouth, soak in alcohol (rum/vodka), blow out, rinse, blow out). Plus, when I try someone else's juice, I'll steal 5 drops dripped right on the atty. It takes 12+ drops to fill a boge carto, and (I feel like) the flavor doesn't really come out of the cartomizer after it's been cleaned and you go to use it for another flavor.

IMHO, YMMV

... i really want an automatic battery. my struggle now is,

Why? I had one of the auto minis someone bought me (it's how I decided to vape at all) BUT, it sucked. The Riva is what I have now and it's great, being manual is not a drawback unless ... what are you hoping to do, hang it on your lip like a cigarette? You're aware that any PV is heavier than a cigarette, right?

do i want something that im going to love the look and feel of but have to sacrifice performance? or do i want something that might be a little bulky and funny looking, but vapes alot better? AHH DECISIONS DECISIONS!

hmmm... I think you answered your own question there.

If you are set on getting a cigarette look-a-like that's automatic, go for it. But don't be disappointed in the performance or lack of battery life.

i see everyone saying all over the place that they wish they wouldn't have started with the minis, but i think i might be too hard-headed to acknowledge the warning! :p

It's YOUR money, your time, and your headache.

These are all very helpful group of folks without an axe to grind who, as a whole, are trying to clue you in on what several years worth of experience vaping has brought to this forum.

If you feel it's necessary to go against "the crowd" and "do as I please" by all means do so.

Just make sure to come back and re-read this thread should, in the future, you find you are unsatisfied with what you acquired. :)

Edited to add: I see the OP took the excellent advice of the good folks here. I'm leaving the post for any other new folks who are reading down the thread.

Urban:
Relax, take it slow, and try stuff out before you go buying out your supplier. If you have 2 batts, charger, and a PS, you'll be fine. I smoked 3 packs a day and my riva kit (650mah) with 2 batteries and no passthrough and it has done me just fine (till recently, when I noticed the batteries aren't lasting as long).

Get your kit, play around for a week (or 2) and go from there.

Happy vaping!
