Hi all, VERY new here, as I have yet to even order my kit (but doing that in a few days - paycheck to paycheck really stinks!)

I have a question about dripping. I know just from scouring this forum and the MANY thousands of threads I've read so far, that I will be trying out various types of juice and probably a few methods of mod fillers. I am excited to get started with this new way of life!! :D

While watching a few mod videos, I did notice a fair amount of juice being transferred from the fillers to fingers, hands, ect. What worries me is this juice has nicotine in it, which is then being leaked into ones body through the skin. Isn't this very dangerous? When watching the vids, I don't notice anyone freaking out about the juice being on their fingers/hands, however, I've read in a few posts on here, that it's VERY important NOT to get the juice on your skin due to the nic and the irritations of some juices.

Can anyone elaborate on this? Last thing I want, is to wind up ill from nic juice seeping into my skin..the whole reason for starting to vape is so that I don't wind up like most of my family - very ill, or already gone :(

Thanks in advance - and a HUGE thanks for this forum!! GREAT info on here!

You're both right you just don't see any one wear gloves due to it being extremely unpracticle. While dripping you bearly get liquid on yourself unless you miss the atomizer:facepalm::facepalm:very tough to do!! In the case that you do get a little on you, there's no need to freak out just wipe off whatever has dripped onto your pv and then go wash your hands. The only reason why I put it in that order is once the liquid begins to dry it can become sticky and hard to remove. Don't worry too much if you can't wash right a way just don't use the liquid as soap or lotion:lol::lol::lol:

Use care and caution when handling liquids. Whether you are dripping, refilling carts or mixing your own liquids, you will get some liquids on your hands. Some ecigs will leak. It's the nature of the beast.
Wipe it off and wash your hands when you are done. You will develop your own comfort level in time. Wipe off the juice and when you're done, go wash your hands and clean up your "work" surfaces. But I wouldn't run to the other room to wash my hands and leave open juices out around pets or small children. Use common sense. Store it safely too.

I'm not suggesting you go be reckless, but I think this gets blown out of proportion quite a bit here. I've gotten drops of everything from 6-24mg all over my hands and not washed them for hours. Nothing happened. Nothing at all.

I do think once you get above 24mg, it's time to start being careful. I use latex gloves when mixing down from 48mg unflavored.

I will throw out the disclaimer that we all have different reactions and tolerances to drugs. Do what you feel safe doing and discover your own reaction to nicotine.

I think I leaked a lot more filling carts than anything else. I did have a bottle leak in my pocket once and it did burn my leg. Also I would suggest that if you have gotten a lot of liquid on your hands that you wash them before using the bathroom.

Now pure nic is poison and can kill with very small amounts. However, e-liquids are not anywere near that potent and not really that much to worry about. Keep the bottles someplace safe and like the other poster said, keep them away from kids and animals.

Happy Vaping and Welcome to ECF.

Really you dont need to worry if youre using the pre-made juice.
If youre handling the 100% nic for DIY then yes, use glvoes and take proper laboratory precautions (kids and pets absent,no food around, proper sealed containers etc) but with the pre-made stuff - really its a non issue.
Ive been vaping since december and in that time I've:
Got it on my hands and finger pretty much daily
Got a bit in an open wound
Got some in my eye (ok that one HURT but that was all)
Got some on my lips
Drank some (accident..lol)
Get it in my mouth because I will lick the top of my cart out of habit (Homer says DOH!)
I have seen a couple of posts on this forum where members had dogs that ate entire bottles of nic juice to no ill effect (I dont suggest you let your animals do that btw, its jsut an example)

I've not suffered any ill effects from any of the above and Im not super woman - I have hayfever and get upset tummy from too much oily food!
I know it seems, from my above list, like Im a total klutz but Im really not lol

Don't worry :)

I'm with captjay. I have gotten juice on my hands, mouth, etc... it gets sticky when it dries so the next time i get up from my puter, cause i'm too busy vaping to hop up right that second, i wash my hands. i've been vaping over a month and had no ill effects. i have more ill effects from vaping too strong a juice than i do getting it on my skin.

good luck and welcome to our happy group.

don't get me wrong, I never just get up and wash my hands after getting mixed juice on them, but after a few second of 100mg on your skin (due to an animal jumping on you causing it to spill on you), it starts to burn. Close and lock the door you'll be mixing in, especially if it's more than 48mg!!!! hmmmm 48mg my morning vape sounds good right now!

Thank you all for your quick and helpful responses!
I will 'train' myself not to freak out when I do finally get to start this whole vaping experience - I swear payday cannot get here fast enough!! I think I may be too excited?? ;)
Thanks again - I'm SURE I'll be back with many more questions in the days/weeks/months to come.
