Hello, today I got some 316L SS premade clapton coils in the mail and I'm really loving them! Question is, when I was installing them I was dry burning and getting them to glow evenly they changed colors. Is this ok to dry burn them now and later to clean them? The color changing put me off and I just want to make sure no harmful byproducts would result. THANKS

Luke, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but you would nearly have to be melting an rda in order to release the chomium from 316L.

There is more info in the explicit Stainless Steel threads. They had a whole go around abt TC, and I've purchased a ton of it and I'm not done stocking up yet.

I don't think it's a good idea to heat a coil to white hot, regardless whether it's kanthal, stainless, or anything else. It's not necessary. I dry burn my ss coils, when initially setting them up, and when rewicking and cleaning. But just cherry red, for short bursts, is sufficient.
