Well I got mine and after measuring, looks like the only way it will work is by having an od much greater (about 3mm) than the the original tank. Not what I had hoped for . Another option would be make a pyrex liner for the tank by sliding a piece of tubing just a bit shorter in length and smaller in diameter inside of the stock tank. I could cut a vertical slot in the original tank to act as a window to see the juice level. Possibly using some silicon to seal the tube and keep it in place inside the metal sleeve. This would however make the capacity much less than the stock tank. Any issues with using silicon in the tank?

Received one of these guys in the mail today & I'm super excited to start playing with my first genesis rebuildable. Took it all apart, cleaned it good, re-oxidized my stock wick, did a few juice burns & all seemed well but very little flavor. Fiddled with it a bit and my resistance started going all over the map. Obviously points to a short so tomorrow I am going to try the cotton method & see if things improve.

Quick update: cotton method is working great, 6 wraps of nichrome getting me around 3.3 ohm, vaping my face off breaking it in now and hoping things continue to improve. Thanks to all who contribute the wonderful tips and tricks to get these working, pretty pleased for my first genesis style atty.

Is it normal for a coil to gradually rise in resistance? This coil started at 2.8 and has gradually worked its way to 3.1

Well I'm new to the whole genesis thing but so far that's what I'm experiencing. The original installed coil on my ZAP went from 2.4 -2.8 over the course of a week and my first coil on the DUD last night has gone from 1.6-1.7 after about 2 hours of vaping.

Yes. It should stabilize a lil once it gets fully broken in but yes, it will go up in resistance. Let it go too long and it will get to the point that the coil wire is super brittle and ready to fall apart (really long time for that tho).

My GF told me her coil wasn't working (almost 5 weeks).....I took it apart and there was so much buildup and the coil wire was so tired it literally fell apart in my fingers.

I usually get anywhere from a few days (if I'm bored and just wanna change it) to almost 2 weeks before a coil change.

Yeah I've notice that certain liquids cause more build up than others, mainly the ones that are heavily sweetened. I've been taking a tooth pick and knocking the crud off the coils. Whats the best way to clean them?

The toothpick scrape works good. When my tank is empty. I dry burn the gunk into ash and rinse with water.

That's a really big jump in resistance, to me that would indicate that a short has developed due the the initial expansion/contraction of the new coil.

Think about it like this, when wrapping a coil, to take a coil from 2.5ohm down to 1.2ohm you would have to use 1 or more LESS coil wraps. you might see a coil briefly be .1 or .2ohms lower after a fresh wrap on it's first few hits but a good, non-shorting coil should only go up in resistance.

As far as cleaning, I put some alcohol in a syringe and shoot it into the tank and dry it out. For the coil I kinda "launch" alcohol at the coil with the syringe to get some of the bigger stuff and then lightly wipe the coil with a wet paper towel.

Round 3 DUD/chid(China DID) co-op is now up in the co-op interest/discussion subforum. Clear tubes are also being considered, so if you are interested it would be a good idea to go and let the organizer know.

Round 2 went really smoothly and has been shipped out today. New round can't start until that one finishes, plus China is on holiday until the 6th or 7th anyway.

I should have my order in a day or two. They are definitely pretty thick walled. We'll see how they fit.

That's really the only gripe I have with these CHIDs so far, not being able to see the juice level.

GHETTO BOOGER!!!
My first beast build of the DUD. Had a good wick and coil with the cotton batten method, but decided to step it up this morning while trying a different coil technique. Used a drill bit which fit in the wick hole to wrap a nice tight coil, see escapereality's thred about this coil. Used 30 Guage Nichrome and wrapped 10 coils. Hooked it up and had 1.9ohm's. Slipped in a 400ss wick, juiced up and started vapin hotspot free. Also took a 10ml syringe and hacked off the bottom, poked a hot paper clip through for increased air flow, popped it on top and wedged the drip tip in place. This is a great mod for impressive vapor production, especially with a direct lung hit. With the hole lined up directly on the coil it produces as much vapor as I have ever seen, massive cloud. Need to do some tippin in between chainin', but seems to wick pretty well when tilted. The excessive coil surface really eats up the juice, so wicking is key to avoid the dratty. Seems to be holding it's resistance at this point, so no shorts through a tankful. looks pretty ghetto, but who cares, just having fun.

@Nurzrachit That's awesome! That is the only method that I have yet to try...I have 4 drill bit cases and the one that I need is missing from all of them

I'm also surprised that the heat doesn't melt that syringe tip.
