These work pretty well. They are pretty thick walled compared to a plastic syringe, but once installed doesn't look that bad. You will definitely need to use the included o-rings. Be sure to lightly press the o-rings into the grooves, and then lubricate with some juice before installing the tank glass. Also, and this is a pretty big also, before installing the tank take some 600 grit or smaller sandpaper and knock the sharp edges down just a bit both on the outside and inside. It takes only a minute to do. You will thank me later once you see why. ;-)

i have been using the phoenix with ss mesh for a few weeks now and i have a 3/2 wrap of 32 awg kanthal. You said you thought the phoenix was warmer, but i find the the warmth is the only thing lacking in my set up any suggestion on how i could warm it up?
I would think that a 3/2 of 32 kanthal would be pretty warm?? Mine is setup with a 4/5 of 32 kanthal.
A beveled, or rounded, version of this Pyrex would look a bit better, but really needs to be polished clear again. Yes I agree, the larger o-rings are definitely needed. I was amazed at the difference. Nice positive seal all the way around. Happy I got these. Gives a clean view into the innards which won't cloud up or crack under normal use.
Do you have experience with the 30 awg kanthal, if so how does the vape compare to the 32 awg?
Other than the ohms change and it is a little thicker. You do the same process. Oxidize your mesh and wrap your coil. You would need to nearly double your wraps to achieve the same resistance coil as with 32 kanthal.
32 A-1 Kanthal = 1.2 ohms per inch
30 A-1 Kanthal = .7 ohms per inch
You should always target the wire gauge that let you cover as much area as possible (more wire=more vapor/flavor)
Correct. So it would also stand to reason that if you were to use 30 over 32 and you double your wraps you should also achieve more flavor and heat by covering more area of the mesh.
I'd like a beveled tube if ya'll decide to make one. I did a clear tank so it won't be as noticeable but for a solid color, I'd definitely want a beveled tube.
Im asking because ive seen rip trippers, and r wechslers vids and they use really low ohm coils .7-1.3 in gennies to achieve really high wattages. What is the advantage of having a wattage that high
If you're using a non-VV/VW PV, the only way you can increase heating (power/wattage) is to decrease the coil resistance (low ohm). This should increase vapor production and throat hit but at the expense of your battery charge and life.

I have a glass tank coming from IBTanked, now if only I can install it and salvage my existing coil.
If you loosen the positive nuts and remove them one at a time you can carefully un screw the positive pin from the bottom of the tank, this way you can leave the coil and wick in place, you can then take the tank apart by unscrewing it and take it apart, then just replace the clear tube and put it all back together being very carefull, you should be able to put the positive pole back through again, just replace the nuts one at a time, if your very careful the positive pin will go back through and connect with the coil again, then just tighten up everything again and vape away, this is the way I have been doing it because it is sometimes difficult to get the coil and wick to work properly again after taking it apart, I dont like to mess with this thing when it is working good already, I hope you understand what im talking about, but this method has been working great for me. This. You could also use this technique as well for initially wrapping your coil around the wick. With the center post pushed down just enough, it would leave you room to freely wrap the heating wire without any obstruction.
Should be great, only one way to find out. I use 30g Nichrome in several different builds, currently have on the DUD and makes lots of vapor. It is 1.8 ohm's and I believe 10 coils. The resistance of 30g Nichrome is less than 30g Kanthal, so you may have to check at 6-7 wraps or so. I have noticed too with the lower resistance wires they can handle more amperage without getting hot spots, or a burned taste. I also use a 28 guage Nichrome, but the wick on the DUD is not big enough to make that many coils. I use that on my DFW Ratank
Just for fun I found some 32g (I usually use 34g) and wrapped myself 1ohm coil on the ole DuD. Runnin it om my Kicked Puresmoker Legacy at about 9watts........HOLY MONKEY!!! If you want a ton of near instant vapor I say give it a try.
Here is a Chid/DUD on the left with an original wick and coil actually wrapped in China, the first I got came prewrapped, it is 5 wraps (?g) and has been working fine for a couple weeks. On the right is a 70mm tight roll #500 and 10 wraps 28g. Both at 3.7V. If I raise the volts to 4.5 the original's wick can't keep up and starts to get harsh, at 4.5v the 28g really starts to produce monster vaper and the 500 wick never gets dry. Clic pic for video.

Ok, so having a few issues with this now after a week or so with it. I think I got really lucky on the first try. I started messing around a bit and since then haven't had the same experience. I keep getting hot spots and burning tastes. Im going through the supplied amount of wire that came with the kit and if it continues Im making a long drive this weekend.
I have wrapped 6 5 4 coils on the original wick. Done all the tricks I have read about. Using the drill method as "the wick", etc.. but keep having issues. I think I finally made a decent coil now with no hot spots but Im only reading 1.1 ohms at 4 wraps. Tastes good but not quite there Im thinking.
Im getting great vapor and a good TH and its not so much as a burning taste now but more of a true cig taste. Funny but now thats something Im trying to avoid.
Im contemplating drilling the air vent out slightly if this continues and still enjoy the chase for perfectness. This was more of an experience post than a question. Just kind of weird that Im at 4.0 with a 1.1 ohm to get a decent hit.
