I get my "friend tips" from VaporKings and always carry some around with me. There are very few smokers where I live; so far, only two smokers have tried my ecig (thank you, "friend tips"!) and both are now vapers. So looking on the bright side, I guess you could say my success rate at converting smokers is 100 %!!)
KUDOS
:)

We can spend hours talking to a smoker explaining stuff
OR
Pass them a PV with a "friend tip" and let them give it a test-drive

Most common reaction is ... "WOW"
:p

Most common reaction is ... "WOW" :p

Actually, the first reaction from my first convert was "Are you f:censored:ing kidding? This is GREAT!"

While not strictly a convert, I met my first vaper in the wild the other day, a young man sitting in the bank with an eGo on a lanyard. So of course I plunked myself down next to him and started talking. He'd been vaping for 4 days and was a convert. I gave him the info on ECF and said I hoped he'd join. (Memo to self, start carrying ECF business cards!)

Short story ...
There's a very small local "mom & pop" fast-food store
around the corner from where I live. I've been shopping
there for many years.

A year ago I noticed they had disposable e-cigs at the
check-out counter. No big deal.

2 few months ago ... I noticed a Blu e-cig banner on their front door
and there were Blu disposables at the check-out counter
along with 3 other brands of disposables.

Last month I noticed they added Blue rechargeables with the others
at the check-out counter.

Yesterday ... I noticed they were selling an "eGo" style e-cig
with a few flavors. Wow ... talk about e-cigs being "mainstream".

My friends ...
This is just a small local "mom & pop" fast-food convenience store
and the people working there know little about e-cigs and none of them vape ...
But they say E-cigarettes sell so they stock them.

E-cigarettes are here to stay !!
:)

Great idea we all should. I've been carrying them for a few weeks now.

Wonderful story, Petrodus, and I can only hope it's typical of what's happening all over. I have seen something similar myself here: V2 cigs sent me an email several months ago that they were expanding their OTC sales locally (to them; they're based in Miami) and their disposables and starter kits would be available at our local Hess outlets. So I stopped in recently to check, and sure enough, there was a counter display, but it was empty! The lady behind the counter said they sold so fast they couldn't keep the display stocked for longer than a day or two. (IMO V2's are one of the best cigalike products out there, so I'm encouraged that the walk-in convenience-store customers are trying them.)

Love the part about your M&P selling eGo's! (Thinking of Playboy's "hookahs"...) :)

Good story AgentAnia !!
I suggest the e-cig movement is larger than most of us
can even imagine ... and accelerating at light-speed.

Indeed. Rolygate has an excellent article addressing exactly this on his blog. Just found it this morning. Am off to start a new thread on it right now.

This article doesn't warrant a new thread but fits in with this one.
It illustrates the upcoming "E-cig competition wars" and illustrates
E-cigarettes are here to stay !!

Article: Link

This is a "Good News" thread
hopefully others will join in with positive good news stories
including personal observations like the "mom & pop" shops
and stores being sold out of e-cigs and ... anything that is positive.

We need Balance posts to off-set the negative articles out there.

Are you kidding me - so much controversy? I just recently found out about e-cigs and now they want to take it all away from me? I hadn't even heard of all the e-cig options out there until a moth ago - honest - the most I had heard about was blu and I wasn't sure about that one then I get turned on to vaping by my cousin in a chance visit and suddenly I hear about all this stuff going on about banning it and the juices and all the other stuff - it's ridiculous. I hope they don't try to take it away when I finally found something I can finally do without offending my family. I think they are just trying to find a way to tax it 'cause they are losing so much money on our not smoking. I know, I know, I am on a rant but thought I would share it anyway.

I Really Don't think the FDA wants to take e-Cigarettes away from you.

They just want you to buy them from the People they chose.

There are those that want to tax it, and there are those that want to outright ban it. BP would like to see it go away, and BT wants to see what we are using go away, so there is just their e-cigs. The more I read, the less sure I am of just how it's gonna play out. We have to worry about what the FDA is gonna do, what our state govt's are gonna do, and even our local govt's. We get it from all sides.

Hi Copycat2, and welcome!

You are in the very same place emotionally that I was in back in 2009 when I found out that the FDA was ordering incoming shipments of e-cigarettes to be seized by Customs, claiming they were an unapproved drug / drug-delivery device combination.

A number of us on ECF banded together to do something about the situation, and we ended up forming the Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association (CASAA). Check out our web site and consider joining us. CASAA - The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association

BTW, the biggest movers and shakers behind trying to get rid of e-cigarettes will probably surprise you. I know it surprised us. The very organizations that have been nagging you to quit smoking for years, the very organizations that claim to be concerned about the diseases caused by smoking, are the leaders in trying to fight the availability of e-cigarettes. These would include The American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Campaign for Tobacco-free Kids, Americans for Non-smokers Rights, and just about all of your local and state health departments. Go figure!

We figure that the motives are two-fold. There is a group that so deeply hates the tobacco industry that the only smoking cessation method they will accept is complete abstinence from all tobacco and all forms of nicotine. Their goal, in their own words, is "A tobacco-free world."

The other group may may have baser motives: The pharmaceutical industry that sells smoking cessation medications loves the fact that we keep relapsing, and then are urged by our doctors to try the same products again, over and over. A permanent way to stop smoking would greatly interfere with their future profits.

Not to mention the billions they stand to lose treating "tobacco" related diseases like cancers, COPD, etc.

I know exactly how you're feeling, Copycat2, just like Vocalek and the others here. I switched to vaping and 2 months later found ECF and learned that the healthier, rosier world I was enjoying was endangered. Total buzzkill! I've never been an activist before, but vaping and tobacco harm reduction is my new cause!

Please take a minute to hop over to the CASAA website and join. It's free, numbers count, and the experienced volunteers there are working for all of us. And when Vocalek speaks, listen. She knows her stuff!

Stepping back and trying to visualize the "big picture"
of the world-wide e-smoking movement ...
I see more and more evidence everyday that
e-cigarettes are here to stay.

Found the following while surfing.

How to quit smoking with Electronic Cigarettes Link

Vaping gifts Link
More Vaping gifts Link

Image search "Vaping" Link

I suggest the e-smoking movement around the world
is larger than most of us can wrap our heads around.

At this point ...
I suggest e-cigarettes have taken on a life of their own
regardless of what we think here on the ECF regarding "the fight".

I suggest the majority of e-smokers never heard about the ECF
and only vaguely know information about those opposing e-cigs
because they are aware of some e-smoking bans where they work
and possibly in some establishments.

Just my opinion
