E-Pipe Mods

Hi, I want to build my own pipe because all comercially available pipes are to large, like the 601.
I have an excellent cartomiser pipe from TECC but again to large for 'all day' use.
The 'Mikropipe' (just the right size) is no longer available to me due to some problems with the supplier.
I am resident in the UK.
Can anyone point me to where I can purchase ego- C- 510 parts to build my own pipe?

Interesting video. Does that switch allow you to charge the battery with an ego charger?

Yes, it should allow charging. I would suggest finding a pipe you may want to mod and doing some r&d with it. Measure things, and make a decision on battery size, connector etc. one of the main headaches with pipe mods is switch type/placement. The ego option isn't bad, but with some imagination and a bit of technical skill you most likely come up with something better.
You can also fashion a pipe with limited tools and some time and dedication, an electric drill, some drill bits and a sanding drum/rasp bit and some 240 grit sandpaper should be enough the build one. A dremel will help tremendously as well.

Saturday, I was trying to rush an epipe build for a halloween party. I ended up breaking the stem off while trying to press fit a 510 connector into it.

I understand your frustration Matt, wood is a very forgiving material to work with until it breaks lol. I have had wood mods go south a few times, and it's almost always after a few hours of work have been put in on it

I have a shortened CE2 in it. It normally uses XL carto's. I really like the flavor the CE2's have and figured out I could shorten it about 3/16" and it makes it the same length as the XL carto. That pipe is a Jazz carto-pipe. The rest pictured I made plus two more I haven't took a pic of yet...LOL

Can you please explain how you do your switches? I really like your work and think your pipes look very nice.

They are pure mechanical switch.

I use 1/4-20 x 1/2" brass pan head bolt with a 7/64" hole drilled through the center of it. I use a short section of .114 diameter brass rod for the center contact post. The center post contacts a short piece of 3/16" brass tubing that is placed in the stem shaft.

I also use a 5/16" O.D. bushing with 1/4-20 threads to mount the switch into the rim of the pipe. Actually I think they are called a threaded furniture insert.

Thanks so much for your explanation and pics. This helps me understand a lot better how you are making it work. Is it difficult to change your batteries? I assume you just rotate the contact to the side and change the battery out then rotate it back to the battery. Is that correct? This would be very similar to the way the Jazzcarto pipe works. I have talked to Romaniac on the telephone a couple of times and he seems to be a very nice guy. We discussed making a custom Jazz pipe that I wanted. Keep you the good work and I will be watching for more great things from you. Thanks again for the pics and description.

You are correct, I loosen the button bolt and turn the contact to one side. I made mine this way cause I had issues with my Jazz pipe button not making good contact all the time.
