No rush here. So with the mechanical switches, are you carving them yourself? I was looking around a bit, but cant seem to find anything pre maid with a thick enough wall to house the switch.
I did however stumble across a few pre bored briar pipe kits. I dont have any major tools, so not sure on how hard boring out the needed path ways would be.
ebay has some pre shaped briar blocks but not bored out. More friendly priced.

Yes, I have one of those I am working on too. The important thing to remember is that to watch the depth of the pipe chamber. It needs to be 1.375" min for a battery to fit in. I want to pick up a forstner bit sometime to use to make the chamber fit the batteries better.

I am working on a drawing to convert to a picture to show how easy a setup it is. Just been having to many distractions at the moment..LOL

I too, would like very much to see that drawing when you get it done..

Also....inganeer....you had said in another post, that you had moded some pipe stems to fit your tanks, etc? I bet people would like to see how you are doing that....

FYI....Harbor freight sells a pretty good set of forstner bits...for around ten bucks....

3/4th inch forstner bit on the way. I have large enough drill bits for the stem, I would imagine. Now to locate a suitable chunk of wood to carve out. I seem to be having trouble finding a "pre pipe shaped" chunk with a large enough width. Figured a chunk of any quality wood would work, since I have no intentions of actually burning it.
This is too exciting! Thanks so much for the idea, design and help.

Edit: Just grabbed a chunk of Basswood off ebay. A cheap and reliable wood. Was really eyeballing some black walnut until I seen the prices. I decided to stick with the cheaper wood just in case I mess up. For 20 bucks of wood, I'll have 5 tries. lol

Although I've not ordered from them these look decent, even without a pipe.

Building a quality pipe from wood seems to require some specialty tools and definitely some special skills. I build one from Sculpey Primo clay:View attachment 188662

I used a trustfire protected 18350 and a 510 autoswitch. The autoswitch is junk, and I'll be moving to a manual shortly, but for proof of concept, it works.

--Boom--

Boom.....I think you did a really neat job on that pipe man.....What did you use for a cap?

To bad about the autoswitch.....Still...Nice job on the pipe...
