E2 Cartos are tasting like burnt plastic.

Congratulations Turbo! A year is phenomenal!

I've noticed better battery life since r2 as well. I think 'banjo's right, they produce better w/ shorter drags, less time pressing the button or drawing w/ an auto.

'banjo', I see you reached veteran status and are soon to reach a year w/o smoking. I got to both this past Monday myself. Congrats!

After a day, the ce2r4 3ohm started to taste foul and I cleaned it. I opened another one went to dry burn it and found it had only 4 coils. I filled it and within an hour it was horrid. When trying to PTB it and taking up the wicks, the wicks came out in pieces. Even with the ptb it's awful. I've had it with these.

Any recommendations for decent cartos?

The wick can easily be damaged while pulling it out unless it is completely clean and dry.

Thanks for letting me know br.

I'm presently trying out another one (what the heck, I had 12 left), and didn't dry burn it before its initial use. So far this one is very good. I'll see how it goes but I really do think that there's a huge quality control issue with them. It's like shooting dice every time you open a new one up. I can't afford the odds.

Do you know of any other decent cartomizer? Thanks in advance and

Happy Halloween!

Those of us who have been testing and using these things since their first public release have known that there's a quality control issue. But it gets worse than that. They sell all of their inventory by mixing old revisions with new revisions, so yes. You don't know what you are getting until you open the box. There's no telling how long it will be before these older revisions are flushed out of all the vendor's stock. For all we know, there still may be minor changes in this supposedly final edition. I certainly hope so, because there is a thing or two that still needs to be done with them.

Most of us who have learned how to live with the E2 do not know of any other decent cartomizer. I don't think of the E2 as decent, but even with all it's faults, I don't know of anything else that I'd rather use.

I am new to vaping. I have used the c4 cartos, the premium cool carts and the wow carts. Hated the wow, they are out of my equation. I like the premium carts but the throat hit is different from drag to drag. Sometimes its like taking a drag off a cigarette and other times it makes me cough, cant put it in to words. The c4's have the absolute best vapor of all and the drag is very consistant. Problem with the c4's is the taste. A few drags and i have great flavor then next time i get a weird plastic rubbery taste. If i can figure out how to get the taste consistant, these would be my only choice for a carto. I had an issue with the drag being like sucking through a straw and found a fix for that. On my premium carts, i plug one battery hole with a tiny piece of toilet paper and on the batteries i use the c4 carts i plug 2 holes and it is the closest thing to taking a puff off a cigartette (yes toilet paper, taping the holes was a major pain in the ...). Do you need to let the juice soak for a while in the c4's before you use them or just fill and vape. Also how long do the c4 cartos last, do they last the same length of time as a regular filler material carto. Sorry im just learning and i too and spending a small fortune trying to find what works the best. Good news though, in all my learning and trying, ive cut down from over 2 packs of smokes a day to less than 1. When i find the right equipment, i want to be completely smoke free.

One of the main faults of this cartomizer is that some of them do not wick fast enough. Not all, but some. If the wick begins to dry out there will be a bad taste. For the most part, they do better with a lower voltage. Then too, the regular length usually wicks better than the XL. Also, the ones with a lower resistance coil will dry the wick faster than those with a higher resistance.

So there are a lot of variables involved. Perhaps I could tell you more if I knew what battery you are using, what size cartomizer you are using, and what the resistance rating is.

One thing I can tell you for certain. If you restrict the air flow of the intake, it will make your situation worse, not better. This is not a regular cigarette you are smoking and there is a learning factor involved for you to get your best experience from an E-Cigarette. Nice and easy draws usually work well and if you get everything right, then your experience should be BETTER than a real cigarette.

Most of us are getting a longer life from this cartomizer than we were from the older type.

I use a kr808d1 and i bought the c4's in a 3 omh, still not sure what that means but i guess eventually if i read enough on here, i will figure it out lol.

That combination should work well for most people. You have a 3.7 volt battery and a 3 ohm E2 is recommended for it. I don't recommend a higher voltage. About how much juice does it take to fill it up?

I think ive put .6 in it more than that and it comes out the bottom

That is about the right amount for a regular length E2. Most of these wick well enough the keep the coil wet. Therefore, your combination should give good results continuously with no pause between each draw. Without firsthand knowledge of your situation, I don't believe I can tell you anything that will be of help, other than some of the things that have already been suggested in this thread.

I may need to stress that this cartomizer needs all the intake air that it can get. I have to periodically clean my KR808 battery fittings and make certain that all of the holes are clear. Otherwise, the air does not move past the heating coil fast enough to keep it from burning the taste of my juice.

I've been modding XLs into syringe tubes and I'm still getting a burnt taste here and there. What I've found is that I am a chain vaper and I'm not giving the wick enough time to recover. I've discovered that taking a drag without pushing the button helps draw up more juice. Then I'm good to go for a few more drags. The stock wick just can't keep up with me 100%. I'm going to PTB it and see if that helps. What I think it really needs is some sort of plunger like apparatus at the bottom that would allow me to push juice up towards the cup as I vape.

I used an R4 today without soaking it first, and I could taste a rubber/plasticy taste most likely from that heatshrink under the cup. Perhaps that is what some of you are tasting.

Soaking the carto in boiling water for 15 minutes seems to do the trick. Rinse and repeat if there is still a smell.

From my experience, these carto's still leak and have a strange taste out of the box, and I think there should be an R5, along with a redesign that allows you to refill them straight from the bottle by simply removing the outer white mouth cap only (tube refill design).

Ditto 'k2', I just filled an r4 and got that taste too. I even did a dry burn, so rinsing/soaking in vodka it will be for me. It's the first r4 that's done that for me so it's best to be sure before filling.

'K2", do you think it possible the boiling you are doing might be shrinking the 'shrinkwrap' a little leaving it prone to leaking. If this is happening consistently to you, and in 'general' the leaking problem seems 'fixed' unless overfilled - and I know your not overfilling.
Maybe try the rinsing out a new one with white vineger, then a hot water flush and give it a try to see if it still leaks.

Just a thought.

I think your solution may be better than boiling...is this the way you do your first clean and subsequent cleanings? When you say a rinse in vinegar are you letting it sit in vinegar for a few minutes?

I just filled a CE2 v4 after vaping it dry and I was able to put in 0.8ml. Any more and it would start running out of the center hole.

With one that's totally dry I think I can get very close to 1.0ml.

I borrowed a condom end cap from one of my other cartos and put it on the battery end and this prevented any leakage during filling.

I got the RoyalSmokers from VaporJunction and they didn't come with end caps (condoms). Are they supposed to?
