tobacco is still big business even though the smoke nazis are represented in all 50 states. The tobaco lobby still pulls huge weight in Washington, particularly with southern tobacco growing states. They're not going to sit by while e-cigs threaten their already depleted business model. It's like Exxon/Mobil "developing" alternative energy, and GM making electric cars...Anyone who's seen the documentary..."Who Killed the Electric Car" knows what I'm talking about. I'd bet my left one that Big tobacco is pushing the issue with the FDA. Ironic as it seems...you know this crap happens!

LoL, I meant the link to the video.....

It appears Indian Flavoring food is more important since "that" video/ariticle has made it up.

Figures........

The only thing I was able to find anything about it was (but it was only a "pre-empt":

ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES: ARE THEY SAFE? - Electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes, are being touted by their marketers as "healthier" options for nicotine. They are powered by batteries and an atomizer, delivering nicotine in a cigarette-like package without the tobacco. But are the electronic versions safer than cigarettes? Dr. Jonathan Whiteson from New York University warns that they are a harmful alternative for those who are trying to quit smoking. He believes that there is no way to know what you're actually inhaling because they have not been approved by the FDA and no studies have proven their safety. Dr. Whiteson will talk about the possible risks of these types of products. He'll also show you what they look like and how they are used.

Smokum - CBS Early Show has some interesting "news worthy" topics eh?

Also a blurb on Dr. Whiteson: Jonathan H. Whiteson M.D.

These are his published articles. So far, I have not seen the clip from the show, but it is curious that someone who doesn't work with smoking would even be quoted??????

Edit: He did do quite a few studies on the effects of smoke/dust from the WTC collapses. So I will give him kudos for that. He also appears to be solely a heart specialist and of course, we all know that smoking is not good for the heart. Still... an interesting choice.

Who's got a link!? I am dying here!

Damn..... I watched it right from the time of your posting and didn't see a thing....

video link needed please

VapeOn,
Greg
maybe that segment hasnt aired in your area yet? Where I'm from, it airs later (relative just now called to tell me that e-cigs are going to be on The Early Show). Where I'm at right now it airs earlier (and thus why I've already seen it)

Might also be why it's not on their website yet - waiting for it to air everywhere first.

Jonathan whiteson, m.d., codirector of the center....relies on a two-pronged approach — behavioral counseling and nicotine-replacement therapies or medications...participants may receive counseling as often as every day...are often prescribed medication, including over-the-counter nicotine-replacement therapies and the prescription drugs zyban (bupropion) and chantix (varenicline)...

Awesome! That is exactly what I was looking for... some qualification for him being quoted.

In today's "no-qualification necessary" journalism, it is always good to follow up on the source of the info since not all journalists do it for us (even though it IS their job). And even though it has been explained to me several times that journalists do not have time, nor do they get paid to write the truth, I just simply cannot accept that.
