Thanks for that review, I'm a lazy person that prefers video reviews, but this one actually kept me interested because it was easy, and not formal. The picture of the cat in the middle of the gallery made me smile haha. My only question remains... what the hell is a SO? Son-something? Sister-something? Sibling-something? xD

I'm so pumped up for this eGrip! I already sold my Presa 75/Cubis (I hate to "collect" these things), but I still haven't got my eGrip. :( It already arrived in my PO Box in USA, but I need to forward it down to Mexico.

The review is awesome, and more importantly, Tpat's happy with it... that's a shocker, a very positive one! (I'm sorry Tpat, I don't even know you but I've read most of your likes/dislikes/complaints since the VT thread, so it gets me very excited that you're liking it so far).

I regularly use 25-35W, and hope to stay that way, hopefully I won't even notice the Battery life being shorter.
Actually, there's a review I saw where the dude said someone tested the battery and said it could possibly be a 2500mah one, not a 2100.
Hey @BetoMex I'm wondering if the postman riding that little Burro down from Chicago made it to you in Mexico yet?

He must be getting close by now! You were the first one to order and we are still waiting to hear what you think of the unit! Hope you like it better than the VT! Did you ever get the hole drilled in the CL base on VT? Did it help the performance?

Thanks Tpat, I think I will order one this weekend. I have to at least try it since I am a fan of the device and the design and all my older Egrips have been solid performers and used by me daily. I have not messed with temperature control that much, the only TC stuff I have are some Ni heads for my Subtanks which I tried once and decided I didn't want to fiddle with it too much and went back to my Kayfuns. I have some BF Clapton coils already so hopefully I'll be set for a while. I'm also curious about the Notch coil but people seem to be 50/50 on whether they like it or not.

I think I'd notice a difference with the notch coil in a dripper but in a stock coil it seemed the same as traditional wire.

I think the notch heats much faster than traditional wire and provides more surface area to perform better than standard TC coils and somewhat simulate the Clapton coil experience in TC modes without the problematic setup, troubleshooting and mathematics of Clapton coil use in TC Modes.

Temperature Control is something so many users avoid and I just can't understand why.
  • Coil life goes from days or a week to months under TC.
  • Preheat goes from a few seconds to tenths of a second by applying higher wattage and relying on TC to keep coil from overheating past your set temperature.
  • It controls dry nasty burnt hits possible if your tank runs dry and keeps the undesirable chemicals from being produced that there is evidence can be detrimental to your health.
  • It provides a cleaner flavor by keeping your juice and cotton from scorching on the coil and vapor delivery is just as efficient as non TC if your wicking and coil are set up correctly.
  • You will lose some of the heavy throat hit you get when non TC Vaping caused by the by products of the combustion(s) of juice and cotton but that is a very small price to pay in the long term when minimizing the harmful side-affects possible as a result of these combustion(s).
  • In some units and setups, battery life actually improves under TC since your coil heats faster to temp and you get your satisfying vape more quickly with less total time on the fire button each time you pull.
Of course non TC vaping is still 90 - 95% safer than stinkies so TC is not necessary for some in their reasoning and I get that. I still believe the benefits of TC make it well worth the climb of the learning curve. The proliferation of stock SS coils and availability of more reliable and capable TC mods has made that climb both safer and easier than ever.

Well perhaps I'll give the TC on the Egrip a try and if it works well I'll continue to use it. When i tried before, i got wispy anemic hits and didn't feel like trying to figure out the right settings.

Is the silver one the only one that has the metal finish or are the other colors painted metal? Thinking of getting the white one. I usually would go for red but not a fan of the fire engine red, I prefer the deeper red they had before unless it just looks different on the photos. I wish they had that sea green color they have on the Evics for these, I'd probably go with that instead. Or maybe I'll just skin it.

I started TC vaping on ChiNA40 Vaporflask Clones using subtank with stock coils so I know full well what you mean by wispy anemic hits. Building my own coils on Lemo and Lemo 2 made things a lot better after a lot of trial and many, many errors. Don't think I knew what proper TC Vaping was until I bought my first DNA200 Hana for $225 (the board failed within a month but was replaced, but more 200s were purchased). The difference in the experience the DNA200 gave me was a night and day one over the ChiNA40 Chips.

Early Evic VTC were decent at TC but got much more reliable through firmware updates and the addition of TCRs gave customization to work around some of the shortcomings. The latest ss presets are much better and tuned to the JT coils so you shouldn't have any issues using them.

All the Egrip II colorways share the same construction so it is painted heavy Zinc Alloy metal that feels very substantial in the hand. I really like the white ones. Not a fan of Cyan at all. The gold looks pretty nice though. I'll be adding to the collection in time when the holiday sales prices (4th of July?) allow.

For now I'm more interested in the DNA75s and the Artey Summa that are soon to begin shipping.

For anyone wanting to play with loading a custom logo. Must be brought into paint and saved as a monochrome bitmap.

Ugh... I know. It arrived in my POBox in McAllen (Texas) two weeks ago. There's ALWAYS some family member, workmate or friend, that goes to fetch parcels to bring them to Mexico, but given my super luck, no one has gone in the last two weeks. I'm going CRAZY!

My eGrip VT has gone crazy (the regulating wheel works whenever it feels like it), went to a locksmith to see if they had a special driller and he had it, but told me he wasn't sure it was gonna work and he of course wouldn't be responsible if he f'd the cap off. To maintain some of my sanity, I skipped this experiment and went to buy a Ti coil which has a slightly wider airflow than the regular Canthal one. Flavor's a bit off, every now and then I get "new coil up same down", or "Protection" messages. It's awful.

Yesterday I went to get some eLiquid at a store, and there it was, the beautiful eGripII, in white, just as I ordered it. I was -THISCLOSE- to buy it, but I got it together and fled the store without buying it (it's $30 bucks more expensive here).

Hopefully I'll get it this week. Sorry for venting here, I needed it. haha. I need a vaping psychologist dammit!
Oh, and now I want the Kanger Cupti, I'mma go look for that thread. xD

The cupti looks cool with its 18650 capability but that means it's taller than the eGrip II!

Yeah I was afraid of that.
What's more interesting is that the coils look almost the same as the Joyetech ones. I wonder if they'll be compatible. I hate Joyetech's coils and have heard that Kangertech's are better.
The Kangertech CL Coils are supposedly much larger than the Joyetch BF ones

Great. Is everyone moving onto the next thing already? Lol... I ordered my white Egrip 2 over the weekend along with another Kayfun mini v3. Should be here tomorrow. Cupti looks nice but I don't think I want anything bigger. Looking forward to trying out the temp control again... hopefully it'll be a better experience than I had before with TC.

I'm not!
The cupti looks cool and all but it's definitely bigger than the eGrip, and I like the onboard battery.
