Your mom said not to say...
"Since I don't have Excel on my laptop I'll have to do this in my head"....

I love that line, first thing I thought was hell I have a hard enough time doing it in Excel let alone doing it in my head. Good work you guys on this great collaboration of minds and a valuable service to the members of the community.

That worked....thanks so much!

I'm playing around with it right now. Thing is, I have a ton of flavored 36mg but I wanted to try something a bit stronger. I got 48mg flavorless but when I mixed them, first thing is, I really don't know how many mgs I made and secondly, I need to add a bit more flavor.

The bottle I'm using is actually 7.5ml....so....I see an easy recipe there for 6ml, 46mg. I can then add flavoring which I know will knock it down a bit too. I'm going to add .5ml of flavoring at a time to see what 'works'. Thing is, I'd actually forego the 36mg and just make a mix with the 48 and a ton of flavoring but I have soooo much 36mg around (considering I've been 'collecting' it since last Nov....and made sure I stocked up on it when it was the highest being sold).

So thanks a lot Dan! I'll still be experimenting....but at least now, I'll have a better idea of what I'm doing! :D

Well it's not pretty yet and only has the basic math of it (no recipies editor, flavor selections, etc), but I don't have a computer in my kitchen where I mix things up.

I have now posted it to the android market here.

thanx, last question, regarding VG, what % water/alcohol is common? that covers about all i need to know :)

Depends on how much VG you use, some people dont use any as they feel the PG thins it enough. I would go with 10% of any amount of VG you add. So for 5ml VG I would add .5ml Vodka.

Hope this helps
Dan
how about for a full VG mix with no PG, or 50/50, is 10% still good enough?

EDIT/UPDATE: nvm, reread more closely...

Kat, I admire Dan's work so much, but I can't figure the chart out either, I'm a mathematical dummy. I use this one that calculates for you, alot of members use it. Easy peesy :)

eJuice Recipe Calculator

No offense Dan but this one I get....I took basic math all 4 years of high school. When i see numbers and letters together in a mathematical equasion my brain shuts off. this one is best for those who just scratch thier heads and go...HUH? I admire your skillz though:)

Quick & Dirty ejuice Calculator Tutorial

In Section 1 enter the following information:

Base Nic % - Enter the strength of your nic-juice
Target Nic % - Enter the desired strength of the e-juice you're making
Amount to be made for recipe - How much e-juice do you want to make?
Flavor - Enter the desired strength of the flavor of the e-juice you're making
--- 5% is fairly weak, 25% is very strong. Usually.

Now look in Section 2, which lists how much of each ingredient you need to make your e-juice.

That's it!

A few recommendations:
--- Use something like a disposable pipette to measure everything. Every bottle and eye-dropper and pipette makes drops of different sizes, which means that the recipe won't be very accurate.
--- Or use one thing to count out every drop. Use a eye-dropper or pipette and rinse it between ingredients.
--- It's a hell of a lot easier to buy 4 or 5 disposable pipettes. Use a different one for each ingredient, and clean them after you made your juice.
--- Flavorings can differ in strength, even from a single manufacturer, so make the flavoring weaker than you think you want. You can add a few more drops of flavoring after testing it, and those extra drops won't mess anything up. As you get used to your flavorings you'll know how much to use.

The only differance is I added the ability to change the number of drops that equal 1ml. Section 1 and section 2 is the same and is what most people use. We have added extra things on as people requested them, but I do not take offense Use what you can understand and dont sweat the small stuff.

Dan, this is way past when you originally posted your spreadsheet, but I wanted to sincerely thank you for it! I use it almost every day to quickly and accurately mix up juices using a graduated syringe. I start with the high-nic juice, so the needle is not tainted with flavor, then VG, then the flavor. Squirt it into a dropper bottle for my carry-pack, then wash the syringe by sucking up vodka into it, and letting it dry. Never touch any liquids, and my juices are now consistent and exactly what I want, thanks to your calculator. Brilliant.

Question. I have not added water to my juices. Why would I want to, and what is a normal amount? What does the water do?

Thanks again, man! :)
Cheers
Kurt

Water is generally used to thin an e-juice, particularly when using VG. I recommend 1 or 2 drops of water for each milliliter of VG used, but go easy at first, or your liquid will be too thin and that's difficult to fix. It's far easier to add a little more than to remove it.

When mixing, I highly recommend a viscosity test. Lay a mirror down flat, and place a drop of your liquid onto it, and then a drop of another liquid that you know vapes and wicks well. Lift the mirror to 90 degrees, and see which drop flows faster.

If your e-juice flows faster, then it's thinner and you might want to consider thickening it with more VG. If the other e-juice flows faster, then you should thin yours with a little water, shake well, and try again.

Or just vape the stuff, and see if you notice a difference in vaping and wicking properties. The viscosity doesn't have to be perfect.

Eventually you will get a general idea of how much water you like in your recipes.

Vodka can be substituted for water if you wish to add a little more throat hit.

If you use 1 measuring device for an entire session, rinse it - inside and out - between ingredients. Put a cup of very hot water at your mixing work area, and use it to rinse the syringe/etc.

Using vodka as a final wash is an excellent idea.

Sorry, attempt at alliteration, Ferp was all I could come up with.

The worksheet in v7 that has the flavorings along with their particular warnings needs to be updated. Dang.

The Mango extract from Faeries Finest does indeed use natural ingredients. It's full of mango particulate! It might not actually be a problem but I'm not going to try it to see if it clogs an atty or not.

It does make killer cupcakes though :D
