Liking my iStick 40 TC - had it for a few days now. Running only in VW mode.
Ordered "grey" - so as to easily distinguish it at a glance from a silver 20W and a black 30W. It's more of a slightly metallic olive-gray, which I really like. Wife sees green in it too, so it's not just my receptors. The OEM silicone sleeve is a true, light to medium gray.
It feels much more sturdy in the hand - probably because of the increased girth. To me it feels noticeably heavier than the 30, although the increase in weight is only somewhere around .35 oz - roughly 10% - over the 30. The size difference is much more noticeable with the sleeve on. The sleeve adds another .35 oz. It's still comfortably carried around in a front pocket, though - with or without the sleeve.
Thought I'd be bothered by the placement of the 510 connection. Found that I wasn't at all. I don't even notice it when switching between the 30 and 40. Might be a better position longevity-wise, as the connection is no longer above the electronics.
Battery life seems fine. I get a full day+ vaping on a 1.28 Ohm GS Air MS (rebuilt) running at 12-14 watts - and about a day on a 1.43 Ohm Lemo Drop running at 14-15 watts. Subjectively, I think it's about the same battery life I get out of my 30. The battery indicator drops off quickly from 3 bars to 0 toward the end (reverse is also true when charging), but that's no different from the 30.
The 40 seems to read resistance in line with the 20 - but takes it out to another decimal place. Readings are rock-solid. My 30 jumps around, sometimes loses the reading when screwed in too far and often won't read correctly until after the topper is fired for a few seconds (which is a real PITA when testing rebuilds). The 40's spring-loaded 510 pin is doing what it's supposed to do, but so far the well seems a bit shallow for my toppers. The toppers seem solidly fitted in the threads, though - no wiggle.
Like the buttons. Clicky. There is an occasional rattle when I shake the device, but I don't often shake the device. Don't really care whether the USB port is on the bottom or the side.
Don't really notice a power difference between the 30 and 40 when similarly set. My initial impression was that the vape was smoother, but that may just be my imagination.
I'll get some TC coils and/or Ni/Ti wire eventually, but at this point can't comment on TC mode.
Pretty happy - actually, very happy - with the device so far, but time will tell. If this one starts giving me trouble - especially w/in the next 6 months - I think I'll try something other than an eleaf battery. I've had less than stellar experiences with two 30s - although my 20 is almost a year old and is still going strong.
