.......Laughing a little at the o-ring posts. I have what seems like the worlds largest collection of o-rings (three assortments) due to my unsuccessful attempts to find a match for the little ones on the Davide's center posts. For now, I just keep buying more Davides.:D

If you have an example O-ring, take it to an auto parts supply, they will have a variety and small ones for rebuilding carburetors.

Woofer.. I had trouble with getting bad burnt hits on mine. DaveOno told me of a fix or a treatment for it. Set it to max output, fire it, set to min. output, fire it. Do it in both watt and voltage mode. Mine has been working fine since. Guess it re-calibrates itself. I'm a happy sticker again!

Just an update from my mishap with VapeNW

As you all know, my shipment from VapeNW was lacking my pink iStick as well as my second mini nautilus. I finally received it today, and all was good. For some reason, this time it didn't come with a charger, but all good as I have many of them. My first batch from VapeNW did come with a usb charger though.

Nothing but good things to say about VapeNW, a very reputable ebay seller with stellar pricing. Nothing better than getting 2 mini nautilus' for 40 bucks, when any store near me would be 35 bucks a piece easily! Yay, 2 for 1!

And also to note, I have every color but black, and they are all perfect to date, except for the ever so slightly crooked threads on my blue one. Hardly noticeable. Now everyone in my family has one of these little guys, and we are all very satisfied! Mom has the pink, girlfriend has the silver, and I got my sexy blue.

Woot Woot! :D

This is exactly what I do with the new enclosed kagner coils is re-build them vertical for my Emow Mega and in my opinion they rock. Here is a thread I did on it

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ed-kanger-dual-coil-single-vertical-coil.html

Well, it turns out that yours was that thread in which I learned to do it..... so two things are immediately expected:

i) To thank you for the idea and its development....

ii) To rename 'my BVC Kanger heads' as 'leekeylee BVC Kanger heads'....:)

I've been on this forum for a short time and I get difficult to identify people.... Now it helps knowing you are in the UK....:)

Anyway, the BVC heads work nicely! Everyone, provided they are remounting their Kanger heads, should try this method, because it is worthwhile if you are a flavour-chaser instead of a cloud-chaser!

Agreed Ryan! A million kudos to vapenw!!! I recv'd my 2nd iStick from them today & have purchased from their eBay site 3 times in less than a month. Each time the products, service & shipping has been stellar! (FWIW tho... both of my iSticks came w usb chargers & like you, I just recv'd my silver one today. Wonder why yours didn't include a charger? Maybe I paid more? $34.99 w/free shipping?) #curious

Alright...I'm a bit new to the VV/VW scene, though I understand Ohm's law and all that well enough, but still have some questions regarding this device...

I've been reading what a great combo the eleaf istick is with the Nautilus mini, but based on what I've been reading, it seems like the device is over-powered for the 1.8 Ohms of the mini(?).

When I compare this chart, for example, to most of the Ohms/Voltage vaping charts that are out there, it would seem like 10W is way too much for a 1.8 Ohm coil...or am I missing something or interpreting it wrong?

For those using this type of setup, what is the preferred wattage (or volts) to run the iStick? I've been thinking about pulling the trigger, but the more I read this thread, the more confused I get!

Each individual and each atomizer renders out different settings. so it is nearly impossible to advise you about any particular voltage or wattage, unless you narrow down the possibilities.

In my own experience, which could differ from yours a lot, not to mention e-liquids and tastes, a dripper would ask for the 20 W output, so for drippers better to stay below 1,4 ohm (but over 1,0, as the iStick will refuse to fire below 1,0 ohm).

But a decent cartomizer is prone to dry hits if you drive it over 10 W, or even less, so for them a 2,5 - 3,0 ohm resistance suits better, as the iStick cannot fire over 15 W in that range, and can achieve a real 5- 7 W at minimum.

Speaking about heavy-duty clearomizers, like the Nautilus and the Aerotanks, they easily accept 10-15 W, but with stock coils you are forced to a 1,6 - 2,0 ohm heads, so in those you should cope with a 15 -17W upper limit and find your sweet spot starting on a minimum setting (which is about 8,5 - 11 W in real wattage, but 4 - 5,5 W in the screen) and going up.... There is no other way to do it, and the charts just help you if you get lost....

And BTW, in my humble opinion the charts you pointed to were before the confirmation of the 'PWM-gate' and are referred to old, not so efficient atomizers. They will suit you if you're on cartomizers and first generation clearomizers, and after converting on-screen wattages to actual wattages. In my opinion, there would be too many charts and correlations to do, it is not worthwhile. Just go on the blind from the minimum setting possible and up to find your sweet spot, and choose, if possible (RTA and RDA's) a suitable resistance according to the aforementioned guidelines.

Yesterday I got into serious trouble with my EMOW and the iStick. It was nearly impossible to get decent connections and I was lost searching for clues about how to fix it.

It was particularly mesmerizing to discover that, on the supplied 510-eGo adaptor, my miniProtanks 3 always connected but the EMOW didn't.

After very devoted inspections, I've discovered that the EMOW has a thicker base wall and a slightly deeper end on it, so it is taller measuring from the end of the eGo threads to the botton than any miniProtank 3. I do not have more eGo threaded atomizers to compare, but I bet it is a problem related to the intended target of the EMOW line of atomizers: the Kanger EMOW battery and related new bigger Vision Spinner. In a humble eGo battery, it fired well.

So I returned back to square one.... the 510-eGo adaptor from eLeaf, and its knurled ring. This is a nice feature, but the EMOW cannot cope with a solid end, it expects to surround the battery somehow! With a 'normal', Fasttech purchased, 510-eGo adaptor it worked well too.

And that eLeaf adaptor is too deep in its 510 well (and conveniently short in the 510 male!). I told you some days ago that it seemed to have some regulation, turning counter-clockwise with a screwdriver its central pole.... Well, that's not the case. Toying with it to fix my eMOW problem I've disassembled it and I've found there is no regulation at all, just three separated insulators, Delrin or polypropylene based, that are responsible for the floating effect and the turning capabilities it shows, but without any regulation in the deep of the 510 well.

So in the end I've changed my EMOW to a 510 connection, with normal adaptors, I remain on the supplied eLeaf adaptor for miniProtanks 3 and with a beauty ring, for 510 atomizers. I've too put a very small screw on the central pole, to raise it a bit, after discovering that, with the eLeaf adaptor, no air was able to pass through it, regardless what it could seem.

Here you have photos of those final choices.......

Oh good god. Gonna have to back off on that idea :p

Ended up rolling 24 wraps of 30 gauge on a Russian 91% (dual coil) opened almost wide open with rayon wicks. Worked out to 1.5ohms and thus 12-20watts available on the istick. Set it to 16 watts to start.

I took 3 hits and had to put it down

I think I might need to throw in a 28 or 26 gauge single coil because i cant handle the power :?: Dunno how these guys can run drippers with 100watt box mods- I would die immediately.

Well, I as well paid the 34.99 with the free shipping on my order. I think they just got so confused with how they forgot to send both my iSticks and both my minis at the same time as they were out of the pink, even though when I had ordered they showed in stock and kindly took my $109.00 payment!

But yeah, no big deal for me. I just use my old mvp charger, and gave my lady the one that they shipped in my original package. It is just nice that they acknowledged they had not sent my pink iStick and other mini naut instead of trying to beat around the bush about it. As soon as they got them back in stock, which took about 10 days, they had it right out to me.

Glad you as well had a good experience with them! Can't bet those prices for authentic products with free shipping at that insanely low price! They most definitely got good feedback from me.

ScardMice - Thank your the nice comments I am glad that it is working for you. I am loving my EMOW MEGA with a vertical coil. Using a 2mm drill bit to make my coil at 1.1ohm gives good clouds as well. Currently rocking at about 11wats with it.

Mmmm.... it's labelled 'Curve' instead of 'iStick', and I suppose it is supplied and serviced by 'Totally Wicked', in its UK-based branch.....

I wonder if they also fixed the voltage display.....:D

The link when I copied it over does say though "iStick" and "Eleaf" on it. At first I thought it might be a clone but then I don't think they could get away with mentioning "iStick" and "eLeaf" if it was a clone.

Be interesting to find out if it is a genuine or a clone and if a clone any fix on the MEANS vs RMS

In all probability it is a re-branded iStick manufactured by iSmoka in China to the Totally Wicked specifications, namely, a change in its labellings. Common practice here and there. But it would be really nice if some electronic engineer at iSmoka, Totally Wicked or wherever do find an easy fix to that display, something like 'solder a bridge between terminal X123 and X321 in the second PCB deck' or similar.....

...as for today, dreaming continues to be for free......:)

P.S.: there are more distributors for the 'Curve', but I imagine they are Totally Wicked-related....
http://www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/products/e-cigarette-kits/tecc-curve-products.html

And I found curious the choice of its name, as it seems there was (is) a mechanical mod also called Curve, from NHaler... Its web also offers.....the Darwin! It seems a time-capsule of sorts....:)

It has arrived :D I dont know if I will be able to take my Russian 91% apart fast enough :p

As I am aiming to hit near 20 watts, what suggestions do you guys/gals have for coils? I know that with Rayon my MVP is best at 30 guage (kanthal) 6-7 wraps (16 gauge luer blunt needle) 1.5 ohm @ 10.5 watts. I would think by taking an educated guess that these two setups would produce the best vape for my istick/russian:

1) buy 28 guage wire, and wire it up for 1.5 ohms. I havent tried 28 guage yet, but this should yield about 11/12 wraps or so? Ive thought about 26, but I think by the time Id hit 1.5 ohms Id have too much thermal mass to get a quick heat up...

2) Make a dual coil build with 32 gauge wire where each coil is 3.0 ohms (so combined coil load would be 1.5ohms parallel). Ive thought about attempting this with 30 gauge, but again I think id wind up with too much thermal mass to get a quick heat up time...

Any other suggestions? It definitely seems the eleaf istick is best served by devices where you can rebuild the coils yourself, especially if aiming for the upper reaches of its wattage range.

Looking forward to messing with this :D

In your case, I'd go with a twisted 32g coil @ 1.4-1.6Ω. I personally would shoot for 1.6. With its regulation, the iStick will fire 20W into 1.6Ω...
