The 'constant mode' of the eGo-c upgrade is similar to a regulated mod, where the voltage stays the same for 90-95% of the charge. For me, with my flavors and choice of coils, that was a big plus. There are reasons why it became the biggest seller of ecigs and why it was copied, cloned by every major manufacturer and back room warehouses in Korea. :)

I agree. It's a great battery--and once we figured out that we needed lower resistance atties to take full advantage of its greatness, it got even better. (I hate sagging voltage of unregulated batteries with a passion.)

But those little cute DNA boxes have caught everyone by surprise. Even the mighty ProVari. ;)

Ya but, what tank or clearo is on the istick mini? :)

I'm thinking it may be Eleaf's new GS Air (GS Air Atomizer). The talk is the GS Air uses the same coil heads as Joyetech's eGrip. If this is true, the new RBA base for the eGrip just might fit in the GS Air making it very attractive, especially for the price. The GS Air is <$12 (Eleaf GS Air Tank - Joyetech Tanks - Joyetech, Eleaf - Clearomizers Tanks). The eGrip RBA base is $12.50 (Joyetech eGrip RBA Base). Might be a winner...

Ummm, I don't think so.

Unless it's a new unreleased version.

The rate of charge is determined by the charging board inside the Istick and will be in the area of 500 mah, you can plug it into a 2 amp source but it will still charge at the level determined by the internal charging board. By the way computer USB's are 5 volts, how are you going to charge a 4.2 volt battery with 3.3 volts? While this is possible with step up built into the charging board this doesn't have it

USB 2.0 ports along with optical drives note "start off at" 5v but encounter resistance factors that reduce the end result to 3.3v at the output end of things. There you are looking at only 100mA per port. USB 3.0 was stepped to meet the newer MS/Industry standard requirement for supporting six devices instaad of previously four. On laptops you lose regulation as well which will draw down on the voltage when going to charge some device like a cell phone since you are running off of a battery.

Here I have several eGo batteries as well as mods and have actually sat there most of the night with one eGo battery plugged into the usb hub that has it's own ac adapter while another was plugged into the usb port on the alarm clock. Guess which charged up in only a few hours? It wasn't the identical eGo plugged into the usb hub. And thar is plugged into a desktop running with a 750w power supply so no worry about that getting pulled down any.

Now for charging regulated mods they have circuit cards onboard to automatically detect and perform tasks as a rule while someone taking either an 18xxx type or 26650 battery and using the wrong source to charge(well it will charge faster) then the normal chargers seen for those types of batteries asks for problems by not using the correct equipment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4aMPDedGPk#t=48

Cables also make a big difference.

That depends on whether or not you have some extra long usb cable where the resistance will add up over the extended length. The same also applies to RJ45 ethernet or any other type of cable where a signal is sent through where the strength is lost bit by bit when too long. Here's one article that goes into detail on breaking things down for the layman. One part of this reflects on the differences you can encounter.

In its place, though, another problem has arisen: USB power. Not all USB chargers, connectors, and cables are born equal. You might’ve noticed that some wall chargers are stronger than others. Sometimes, one USB socket on a laptop is seemingly more powerful than the other. On some desktop PCs, even when they’re turned off, you can charge your smartphone via a USB socket.

A "mini" huh? Might just be a little too small for me, iStick is about the right size in terms of "smallness".

I recall years ago, the first cell phones were huge bricks; then the industry went small, so small that some of the cell phones were quite difficult to use (anyone remember the Motorola Vulcan 8160?). Then the industry went big, now we have people using phones that's bigger than their face...

Maybe this is also a trend for mods?

I am afraid that the IStick Mini will be hard to hang onto and easy to drop with my arthritic hands and wrists. I don't have a problem with the regular IStick, but the mini may just be too small to get a grip on. Also, I think there are a limited number of toppers that will look ok on it. The mini sure is cute though!

Not exactly. There are cheaply made cables that will not allow charging over 500ma regardless of the source. You can modify the cable by jumping 2 pins to fool the source to giving the max power but not practical for most people. The easiest way for me to deal with this was to just use OEM cables and wall adapters from newer phones and I also picked up a few Blackberry 1.8a chargers. I use the OEM cables in my truck and on my computer and BB chargers at home.

If you need cables, Monoprice.com sells inexpensive (not cheap) cables that will give you full charging.

I think the main idea is to pack a whallop in a smaller package! While everybody else was busy designing two and three battery .... kicker 100+w box mods someone said "Why don't we please the ladies with something small for a change?!" with many I have had conversions simply wanting to stay simple not cloud chasing and what not. The compact sizes also allow for stealth vaping or simply something you keep on you in case you forget something larger. Makes for a good spare.

I never said there wasn't any garbage cables out there. I know that only too well from custom building pc cases where you run into some real duds in that dept.! Adapters can be garbage at times too! How about a 7 port hub you hardly get anything to work on leaving charging out of the picture entirely!

Here I found the flexibility exists with the port on a $25 alarm clock I spotted one day in a local Walmart. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sharp-Alarm-with-USB-and-Outlets-Black/24225430

Ironically I never actually use the alarm on the alarm clock! Besides simply having the time displyed it acts and as a charging station since the Nitecore Digicharger D4 is plugged into that as well as plugging in a battery mod as I go along. I have a Belkin 6 outlet adapter you plug into a two outlet location where one of the two usb ports never worked and then spotted that and found it reliable.

Speaking of charging, didn't someone on here mention that they had gotten on of these, Amazon.com: Jackery® Giant+ Premium Portable Charger Aluminum 12000mAh Power Pack and External Battery Bank with Dual USB Port for Apple iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy, Nexus, LG, HTC (Orange): Cell Phones & Accessories

Just wondering how it was working out. I'm thinking about getting the wife one.

I haven't even seen it yet! I just placed the order for it yesterday with the tracking showing it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. At least that is seeing a prompt schedule compared to an 8 pack of 18350 high drain batteries I ordered on 11/28! Those must be coming in from China to be talking that long to process and ship here!

I LIKE it! But then again, I do like small mods..... ;)

There was another one by Cloupon with a built in 3.5ml tank I was looking at but thought that wouldn't work out well since I often swap tanks around before they are empty especially when trying out any new flavor on various hardware combos to see the results. The iStick and the Mini kind of reminds you of a "His" and a "Her's" as far as placing the two side by side!
