Eleaf Istick

Yesterday, my istick lasted about 5 hours with my Orchid on it with a 1.1 coil, running about 9.5w. I got home around 6pm and plugged the almost dead istick (turned off) into a wall charger. It's the little white brick shaped adapter that charges my iphone, with the micro usb that came with the device. I left it charging for about two hours, then pulled it off and vaped till bedtime. That was about 4 hours, from coming off the charger to light's out, vaping fairly heavily, using an old T3S tank with a 2.1 coil because right now I'm so annoyed with every other tank I own that I could post a whole other thread about it. This morning, we left the house and did some errands and driving around, and I vaped fairly heavily because being in the car is a big "smoking trigger" for me. About 4pm, the istick died deader than dead. I did this on purpose…I'd never run it all the way down before so I wanted to see how long it would take. By my math…I got about 10 hours of vaping life off the thing. Using a 2.1 coil, about 5-7 second puffs, set at 3.9v, I felt like I could literally watch the battery icon move when I was vaping. Better than most of my old eGo batteries, nothing like my MVP or the two days worth of heavy vaping that some people seem to be getting.

BUT…because I am a dummy, I did not realize that when the istick is fully charged, the battery icon goes away on the screen. So, it is pretty likely that mine has NEVER had a full charge. So I'm guessing that my lacking battery life might be due to user error. I've got it plugged in now and am not taking it off until the battery icon disappears. Then I'm going to see how long I get off of it. I also ordered two more from eciggity today. Because I want to see if it is possible that my first one is wonky and others might have higher battery life. And because overall I LOVE the istick. It is a great design, it feels good to hold, it doesn't feel like a brick in my purse like my MVP does, and if I have a few to swap out I feel like that is a pretty good way to meet my vaping needs. I don't want to blow clouds, I don't want or need 50+watts…I just want something simple that works so I can vape and get on with my day. NOW if I could just find a tank to put on the darn thing that holds enough juice, doesn't spit, doesn't gurgle, doesn't taste burnt when chain-vaping, and doesn't have the BVC funk that puts me off my juice...

I checked the Cloupor site but couldn't find a mod with built-in tank. Are you sure it was Cloupor and not the eGrip? If you have a link, please post.

That was my goof there! I had two browser windows open looking something up one being the EleafUS site and a reference seen for the Joyetech eGrip mod which has the removable 510 drip tip plus the built-in 5ml tank all nicely packaged together in the 20w 1600mah mod there. You can see what that one looks like on a review/discount page. Joyetech eGrip Box Mod | Vaping Cheap

I was taking a look at that just before finding the second vendor with the iStick going for a good price when the first was out of stock when going back for the second and came across this. Despite being a nice little package with everthing rolled up together it's still a bit pricey but was seen for about $45 not the $62-$80 during all the specials while pricing other things I was condsidering. I thought to myself I already had plenty of Tumblers that would well on the iStick and this would be a waste in the long run since I had already bought the pair of them. The more durable mods came to mind besides the BEC Pro that came in today finally as to what to consider in the way of box mods that took 18650s.

sounds about right. two of them here, around the same usage/time to a charge.

LOL...no idea what enough is but: aerotank v2 or if on a budget, genitank with the newest airflow. 1.8 coils not 1.5 and next step down from what you are using in nicotene = less harsh on istick. your mileage may vary but this combo let me enjoy the istick more than when I got it.

Yes it seems to charge for a while if your not using a 1amp adapter.
While the lightning bolt flashes its still charging it goes blank when its done.

Im not the heaviest vapourer - currently going 4 days since the last charge.

Well, I'm definitely a dummy and had never given the thing an actual full charge before. My adapter is 500a. I am going to look for a 1000a. It took about 3.5 hours to fully charge from dead…I had taken it off the charger in the past when it looked like the big battery icon was "full" because I was afraid of overcharging. I read somewhere today that it's not through charging till the screen blacks out. Tonight it went from battery icon with bars rising, to battery icon full, to battery icon full and flashing to completely dark screen. Which is probably elementary to everyone else, but was new to me. Going to try it out tomorrow and see how the battery life is now.

On the USB 2.0 hub I used here being replaced after cooking one side when charging a cell phone a bit too often batteries like the Vision Spinner 1300 mah as well as the eGo-V V3 and V4 VV/VW Mega batteries and not so bad with the 800mah iTaste VV v3.0s or smaller 350 or 650 eGo non variables the charge of one would take a good deal of the night away until first trying the multi-outlet wall adapter with only one working port and later the Sharp alarm clock the comparisons were pronounced!

The longest time was seen for the 3800mah size battery sealed inside the Groove II and that wasn't that bad at 3 1/2hrs. with the reliable 5v output coming from the port on the alarm clock there. That was made for the heavier draws that would be placed on it by cell phones, IPhones, and other devices.

The next apparatus of course will be the 14000mah portable usb charger to see how that will work out. Two of the three usb ports supply 5v at 1A or 1000mA that exceeds the typical factory ac wall plug(while none of the Innokin plugins ever worked to begin with  ) ratings by 400-500mA but are not extreme at the high end. The thing tot remember however is that unregulated batteries will draw on whatever is there and can end up going well over specifications resulting in the demise of the battery if not worse when it overheats and becomes a potential fire risk.

The portable charger however is closer in specs to the USB 3.0 standard missing that only by 100mA on the high side without being any major concern. Still you will want to keep tabs on batteries and if found a bit too warm unplug! The costs of not following factory instructions can prove severe! You play it smart and safe since anyone trying to rush this stuff as a hero can end up being a zero!

So whats the word on the GS Air clearo? Is it any good? And has anyone figured out what that tank was on top of the iStick mini picture?

I think most on this thread have seen it and given it good look over while I haven't heard any feedback yet with it being a brand new tank just coming out. Just before having a look I had just placed an order for two Nautilus mini tanks with additional spare coils in fact another factory deal apparently and then saw that one. It looks like a possible alternate while no information has been seen yet on spare replacements which is not a surprise since those always come later. Someone else may have already placed an order and will be getting one in where they could get back to you on those.

When i use a 500ma adapter it takes around 5 and a half hours - on the 1 amp it took around 2 and a half.
I haven't tried charging it through usb on a computer.

Also your coil ohms and wattage/votage you vape at is a factor with the amount of battery used.
Currentyl I'm 1.5Ω and 12 watts. Although unless you go to sub ohms and high wattage most probably won't see much difference.

Ok, so I was in the same boat. I love the Nautilus mini/Istick combo, but the small tank just makes it a pain to always refill. I don't like the standard Nautilus that much, since it does gurgle a lot. So someone on here many pages ago talked about the Silo from Beyond Vape- one of the same designers as the Nautilus, but it's just plain old better. This thing is amazing; it's now my all-day tank that I use on the istick.

Now, it doesn't fit like a glove, as it's a bit big on it. But in terms of performance for a larger thank that still uses BVC coils, I totally recommend it. No burnt hits so far, and I've been going through almost a tank a day and with no leaking, spitting, nothing. They even have a istick/silo combo package:

Midlevel : Beyond Vape, Electronic Cigarettes, Premium Vaporizers, Premium Vaping Products

Note, shipping is a bit pricey. I would read some other threads on it, their mini version is not great in my opinion, as the there is no draw adjuster. But this big boy has a hole one bigger than a Naut that you can adjust to.

(And I just noticed BVC funk. Not sure what you mean, so maybe this isn't the answer) :)

Depends on what you charge with as well as what the output charging current is. For the 18650s both 3.7v and 3.6v high drain along with rechargeable C, D, AA, and AAA used the most for non vaping items that is the Nitecore Digicharger D4 has been a good one since it auto detects the type of battery along with knowing when to stop supplying current and displaying ALL when one or more batteries have completed the charging cycle. The charger is designed for multiple types of batteries making it versitile while other charger can not be simply used as substitutes since most are still going to be product specific despite what the charging current is rated as.

Likewise the eGo usb charging adapter has so far been the most versitile usb cord for ecigs with eGo threading regardless of brand. The usb port makes the difference as far as the supply current present. The adapters simply provide the red and green leds to let you know the battery has finished charging while you wouldn't want to forget to remove a battery and leave it plugged in for a full day. The only regulation there is seen in the adapter itself which isn't much except if the current is too high the adapter would likely go first preventing damage to the battery involved.

As far as raising the voltage and or wattage on a battery or mod there's a number of factors that can come into play as far as how fast a tank is vaped off as well as how long the battery time will be. Sub ohming doesn't necessarily extend battery time! In fact I went the 3100mah High Drain batteries with the two new mods at the higher wattages as well as going through the 2ml capacity of each flavor so far in less time turning things up which is actually expected. Since I usually have 2-4 or even 5 flavors going at once when going back and forth from PC to have dinner or catch a flick a 2.5ml with 3+ml in a tank will generally last days when vaped on a daily basis rather then sitting around. When putting the Atlantis tanks upto 20w and beyond half the tank was gone in a rather shorter period of time!

That's kind of like comparing an 18gallon gas tank on two vehicles. One has a Volkswagon motor in it while the other has a Hemi. A quarter mile later the tank is gone with the petal to the metal with the Hemi powered vehicle while the Volkswagon drifts off into the sunset lasting all week! Generally the battery gets in there somewhere between the Volks and the Hemi when it comes time to recharge depending on how many mAh are under the hood. 650 to 900 or 1100 isn't that much compared to 650 to 2600 or 2200 for the iStick which by the way charges up much faster with the only slightly smaller size mAh battery then the MVP! That 400mah isn't that much either while the sealed battery is designed to charge at a slightly higher current then the average cell phone it would seem! Try under 2 1/2hr and still seeing a full charge from the initial wear down on both.

In one conversation we had a few laughs about cloud contests and how much $$$ people were paying out regularly to vape at high watts. We figured the contestants had to be ordering ejuice by the gallons in order to keep up with their clouding! Gee look at me! I picked a few almost but not quite cloud makers not for the clouds either however but to see how vaping is.

Have I mentioned I like your avi, dry?

The same goes for having the cord from the Smok Groove II that died over the summer fit the cell phone for seeing that charged up with the ac plugin that came with. Most of these cords will fit other things to begin with since there are only so many sizes between standard and Micro usb.unless the plug that came with something is proprietary for that one thing alone having a non standard one device only plug.

Hmm...interesting! I've been looking for a bigger tank because I'm already getting sick of refilling with my current ADV. I was looking at the regular Nautilus, but if the Silo is a better choice I might have to give it a try. And it taking the standard BVCs is awesome! Can you tell me though, is the Silo "top heavy"? As in, will it fall over if placed on a flat surface? That's all I'm worried about.

If you place your iStick on a flat surface with a Silo tank and full capacity of juice on top it, it will NOT tip over on its own. The battery in the iStick has quite a bit of weight to counter the weight of toppers.

Actually if you shop around a little you can still get the regular Nautilus for about $22- at a few of the vendors while the rest are looking upwards of $45!
$29 at Aspire Nautilus - VistaVapors, Inc.
Also $28.95 at VaporBeast http://www.vaporbeast.com/aspire-nautilus-adjustable-airflow-tank-system.html
and $25 at $25-Aspire Nautilus BVC Tank, - $25.00
And of course $21.99 at Genuine ASPIRE Nautilus - 101 Vape

Now for practicality when carrying the iStick around in a small pocket you may not any large item attached while the Smok Tumblers can fit more then the 2.5ml the factory and several vendors list as the capacity by using a needle bottle or syringe to 3+ml almost 3.5ml go in when wanting something larger then 2ml. Here that works out well since I am not constantly using just one thing plus the ISticks were bought for compact while on the go use not while lounging around on the home front where I already have numerous batteries and several mods to work with. The Nautilus Mini tanks will be in soon enough to see how those will work.

Before I forget? That portable charger turned out to be 12000mah not 14000mah as the page at Amazon had indicated. The size isn't much larger then a good size box mod while being a little lighter and charges up by way of USB ONLY! No ac walll plug just a usb cord and a 10hr. charging time! You could walk around with it in a coat pocket and forget it was even there since it is roughly 3-3 1/2" high and about 4 1/2" in length and right about 3/4"(19mm) thick. Takes upto 1.5A to charge and the output of 1A for each of the two out ports.
