can anyone confirm they use kanger 1.8ohm or kanger 1.5ohm coils in kanger tanks on their istick without getting a burning flavor? I'm running mine on the lowest setting and keep getting hints of burned flavor and scent from short pulls - 3.5sec etc.
between the burning and the crooked threads, I am feeling really dissapointed that I bought this. and since I've now used it, I probably can't even return the thing.
I get that that's a possibility, but the coil was new saturday, and was hitting perfect on my kanger battery right up till I switched it. I'll admit I got a few good pulls from it before it started tasting burned... and it made coils in 2 different tanks taste that way.
9 watts! I don't think I could get close to 9w considering what's going on right now. at least on the istick.
I am currently using 70vg/30pg juices from vapewild that are not dark colored. I've had no burning even with my emow battery up to 4.8v. The hits aren't dry - I still get a big plume of vapor, they just don't taste quite right, and have a bit of a burnt flavor that has me wondering... and sometimes I feel it in my throat, like the feeling of smoking the filter on a cigarette.
does the device actually operate differently in vw mode vs vv mode? I understand that it changes what is displayed, but does it change anything about the power output?
example, is running it at 4.7w (3v) the same as running it at 3v?
I think it was this thread where there was some discussion about whether the ego was dead.

9 watts equals 4.5watts per coil--that's perfectly reasonable. However, I only run my iStick in the voltage mode--on its lowest setting... really have no idea what iStick's 9 watts really means.
Those are the symptoms of a dry coil. Your atty is not wicking fast enough to keep the coil wet. Either the wattage is too high or your juice is too thick. You can thin it out with a few drops (2 or 3) per ml and see it it helps.

Neither. But you should understand that whatever your issue with YOUR istick is, it probably won't consume a thread that already has over 7300 posts! I use genuine Kanger 1.8's in a mini T3S and they are definitely terrible. Lots of burnt hits at the lowest settings. I rebuild them to 2.2 or higher and they are good to go.
9 watts shows to be about 4.1 volts on the istick with the 1.8 dual coils.
It shows to be--but it ain't.
iStick fires at about one full volt higher then what it displayed.
They're not. Basically, from what I understand the further you go to either ends of the iStick voltage spectrum, the more inaccurate it will be in reality. It might say 3.6V but will actually be closer to 3.8. Likewise for the opposite end. It might say 15 but actually might be closer to 14.7 or so. In the mid-ranges it tends to ru. Higher than other devices using a different regulation scheme. Someone else can do the more technical explanation as I always get the terms mixed up.

Not quite--the biggest difference, a full volt, is in the lower ranges. For example, 3v on an iStick is really 4.2 volts.
Once you get to 5.5v, it evens out considerably.
