thanks aldenf, i didn't know they used the cotton, i've been hearing a lot of good things about the subtank's lately......but i've never had any luck with tanks, my et drippers have been good to me so stuck with them.....though i'll admit my protank with the new vertical coils in them really impressed me (if only the stupid tanks wouldn't leak out the 510 connection)

If you're considering spending $20+, take a look at the new SubTank Nano. Utilizing either the 0.5Ω or 1.2Ω heads should run wonderfully on the iStick 30W. The 1.2Ω head will offer the greatest range for the lower wattage vapers. In addition, they use Japanese organic cotton for wicking material, which many find preferable to the ceramic/silica wicks found in the BVCs and BDC heads from Aspire and Kanger.

Yep this is what I'm going to do on payday. Picking up the 30w and the Subtank Nano.

This, so true. And likewise, if the new de facto standard does become 40+ watts, that will leave many of us out in the cold, as you noted. I am holding on to my kartos, yes I am. Even with bricks of them stashed away, I ordered more today.

Our purchases DO create the future markets. I only ask (plead) for a fair shake at some of the older tech, and low wattage vape.

As you so wisely pointed out, there is a cost to this new tech. And that's pretty high in some respects. I don't look forward to carrying around 2 or 3 18650 batts. That's looking quite backwards to me.

What is the YiHi board? How does that work? Talk to me like I'm 5.

For many years now, certain APVs have been designed to use 7.4V, which are comprised of two 3.7V cells in series. These mods include:

VAMOs & ZAMXs with two 18350s, "stacked" in series. These devices are only capable of 15W on a single cell. With two cells in series, they're capable of 30W.

Box mods designed with GE's Naos Raptor chipsets, Murata's OKR chipsets and some with Texas Instruments' POLA chipsets. These box mods have traditionally been run with two 18650s in series. The lowest of these push 50-60W.

In all the above cases, the batteries need to be removed from the mod to charge. There was no elegant/easy/safe way to charge the batteries inside the mod. These battery pairs also needed extra attention from the user in the way they're charged, discharged, rotated, etc.

Li-Po batteries have been available in 2-cell, 7.4V packs for many years now. They have two wired connectors. One that provides 7.4V to the device it's running. The other that allows a special "balancing" charger to monitor and charge each individual cell separately. No internal charging option has been available until now.

YiHi has released two chipsets that need to run on 7.4V sources to reach maximum output; the 100W SX350 & 60/120W SX350 Mini. YiHi has also released a balancing charger to provide an elegant, internal solution to charge internal Li-Po batteries. I was wrong in stating the board utilizes 5V USB power. It requires a 9V, 1A power supply.

YiHi 9V Balancing Charger Board

Why is this important?

In the new age of sub-ohm clearomizers requiring 20-40W to run them, we will need better battery life/efficiency. We know that Li-Po batteries outperform our usual cylindrical Li-Ion batteries in almost every way. Simply look to our iSticks for a good example. Li-Pos are cheaper, lighter and have almost twice the number of charging cycles too!

For example: Using my VAMOv3 and my Erlkonigin @ 12-15W, I go through almost two 2900mAh 18650s in a day. My VAMO box mod has a 7.4V, 1600mAh internal Li-Po. Using the same Erlkonigin @ 12-15W, it lasts me more than a day before needing to be recharged. Both utilize the same chipset. The only difference is the power supply.

I can go into the physics and math for why this is. But to put it simply, running 7.4V dramatically increases efficiency. Add to this the advantages of Li-Po batteries. Whether we're vaping at 12W or 50W, our batteries last much longer between charging.

Sorry. That was closer to an 8th grade level...

So most of you are having problems with the USB port on the 30? The 50 is scheduled to be released 9th of this month, I'll wait a little... And the extra oomph for subohming will help a lot!

Hmm, I haven't been following this thread as closely lately, but was just having issues charging my 30 last night...I thought it might be the cord, because it eventually worked. But it took a few times of going back and fourth. It's almost like it started charging, and then just stopped a few minutes later. Damn. Can anyone else confirm?

Actually, no one has complained about the USB port on the iStick 30W. A handful of complaints (in over 10,000 posts) have been filed regarding the 20 Watt's USB port. Not enough to label it a common issue.

I've experienced some looseness with one cord of mine. It would just slip out easily. I just checked it and it seems to be fittin right today??? It fits the VV3 too the same. So I guess I don't have a problem. Just wondering why the cord previously was slippin out. No problems with charging other than that one cord.

I have had no issues thus far charging my 30watter. It even charges fine with cables my DNA30 clone and cell phone don't like.

I did reinforce the USB port to the PCB with a bit of epoxy, within days of receiving it. Don't know that it's necessary. But I'd rather be overly cautious and proactive than complain about a busted USB port (like my first 20watter).

That's a great price.

Pokemom, stay strong. :)

I decided to wait. I don't want to sub-ohm, and I don't want to lung inhale. I'm sure that Kanger will make OCC coils for other tanks, like Emow or Aerotank, sooner or later. And if they don't, they will probably make some improvements to the Sub (better AFC, higher ohm coils etc.). Kanger loves to tweak their designs--just look at their AFC bases for Aerotanks.

It's all good. The early bird gets the worm, true, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese. ;)

It's all good.

Happy vaping!

Wow, I just got this thing on saturday and now it's trash?

Even with no atomizer in place it says "Atomizer Short". All I did was unscrew my RDA build a new coil and put it back on. :( Really bummed out.

Edit - second device that's went to crap from having a nonadjustable 510 pin. What a waste of time/money.

Have you tried it with a different tank/atomizer? I've gotten the "no atomizer" before on my isticks, and changing the atomizer usually does the trick.

Also, could there be a problem with your new coil?

Just throwing out ideas...it might be toast, but I've never seen one fail that quick.

Edited to add: I misread - thought you were getting the "no atomizer" message, rather than "Atomizer Short". :( I'd still try another atomizer or coil.
