Has anyone bought the esmart and checked it on an oscilloscope to see whether it's mean or still rms?

A user on fasttech put a smart-20 on an oscilloscope and confirmed that it's calibrated to Mean and not RMS. Apparently, the smart-20 is just a rebranded OEM istick with different skins.

A true "cloned" iStick is now available on fasttech (listed as "iStick style 20W" rather than "authentic eLeaf iStick," which is fasttech's code for identifying clones versus authentic versions). Someone on the discussion forum wrote that he had asked fasttech's staff, who reported that the cloned iStick was calibrated to RMS rather than Mean, but I seriously doubt that it is.

I think it's unlikely that we'll see an iStick of any stripe soon that's calibrated to RMS. Chances are better with the competing mods that are coming the market---the Beyang and Cloupor 30W minis probably being the first of many that will be available soon. Despite its flaws, the iStick has generated so much buzz (and sales) that other Chinese manufacturers/distributors are rushing to come out with "improved" competitive versions. Those will still be PWM most likely, but RMS calibrated.

Just my opinion, of course. I could be wrong.

You're not wrong but I'll hold my opinion until I see the scope readings on the Beyang and Cloupor 30W minis. I love the idea that high power mods are becoming much smaller.

I think the iStick and the soon to be multiple other similar mods are great little units, about the height of a fixed voltage eGo 650 and they put out 20-30 watts. What I don't understand is the idea a 20-30 watt mod is ever going to be a great idea for the average carto / clearo user. It's like them trying to use a 350 horsepower golf cart, great on paper but impracticable in person.

I don't see anytime soon that high power mods will operate well at very low wattage, doesn't matter if they are calibrated in unicorn toots. The majority of the operable power band is always going to burn the stock coils and juice in most cartos.

Just my opinion, of course. I could be wrong...:)

It was either that or end up much like this!

EGO BROKEN BATTERY.jpg

That is what was left of a small 650 eGo-T battery when simply walking at home with a 1.6ml clearomizer on top and the pressure against that pulled the connector right out of the battery! When trying to get that back in the wires snapped off. The photo there shows it afterwards stood up a silcone eGo battery stand where you can see the red lead and black ground wire sticking out.

The problem wth the adapter however is the springs are only compressed and put in place without anything like a point sticking up to hold them. Under normal daily use one spring leaned over and eventually fell out where that will end up being replaced by another type of spring. But you have the end result of either lost spring or broken mod!

Arghh guys I need some recommendations for a tank other than the Nautilus Mini. I'm having some serious issues with my SECOND tank. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or what. Here's my thread if anyone's curious or would like to take a stab at figuring this out with me http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-nautilus-mini-leaking-gurgling-bubbling.html

However, I'm going to Chicago over Christmas and need to have something that works. What's a good tank other than the Aspires? I have the beauty ring and the ego adapter so I don't mind if it's wider than the iStick.

A friend of mines was having this same issue yesterday. Not being savvy she bought it to me. My fix for her was to remove the coil, blow it out, dry it off, put it back into the base first, fill the tank, put the base on & hand it back to her.
I dont know how she managed to do it but I've never seen so much juice trapped under the coil in the base.

I think she was just scared to take the whole thing completely apart herself.

She also told me when she changes coils she's been screwing them into the chimney first then attaching the base instead of screwing them into the base then attaching to chimney. When i did mine her way I got the leaking, gurgling & bubbling.

I also took out the rubber gasket & cleaned juice from there too.

Yeah sorry bout that, i use a full size nautilus, not sure what other tanks work on there maybe the GS AIR?
GS Air Atomizer

[IMO] The GS Air is a downgrade. The Nautilus is waaaay better. The GS Air uses the same airhole style like a Kayfun & for me, it just doesn't get enough air.

I really like Kanger Emow Mega on my iStick. Perfect size, no overhang, the coils are easy to clean and replace and rebuild. The tank is glass protected by a metal sleeve, 4 large windows to monitor juice level.

Agreed.

The manufacturers are not worried about RMS, EMS, Delta or Sine waves but "power in compact size"and are simply rushing to bounce anything off of the walls to see who goes for what. That's all part of the market being seen there. The extra wattage allows you to run a Nautilus or other tank that runs better at 13w then pushing it on an older Vamo V1-V5 model or other lowered powered APV or mod that only reaches 15w. like the VTR. The MVP 2.0 is 6-11w best sees use here with at Tumbler that maxes at 10-11w anyways.

[IMO] The GS Air is a downgrade. The Nautilus is waaaay better. The GS Air uses the same airhole style like a Kayfun & for me, it just doesn't get enough air.

Both Nautilus full and mini size tanks have been working out well here. I didn't rush at them when first out but waited a couple until the discounts and BF specials where I was planning to update/upgrade hardwares here anyways and found them to run well at 11w-15w. Besides the Atlantis still waiting for one overdue with holiday mail apparently another tank besides the Kanger Sub Ohm has come into view namely the new Horizon Scion Bottom Quad Core tank that supposedly puts out clouds at the lower wattages and an 0.8ohm coil preinstalled.

Ok, I just took a close look at my bending adapter (under a bright worklight and magnification). Looks to me like the springs on mine are held in place by recesses

Is it possible that there are more than one version floating around out there already?

It looked like the one here saw the corner of the clasp depressed a bit but trying to get the spring back in place didn't go so well. I attempted to push it back into the original position but didn't have needle point tweezers or something else fine pointed enough to compress it while grabbing ahold of it at the same time.

If you were seeing two identical rather thin springs one on each side that would suggest they are made the same with that being the one weak point. I doubt anyone has bothered trying to make any clone adapters up since there wouldn't enough money made. These are already marked way down from the MSRP by several vendors since the ISticks have been moving like crazy.

I only mentioned the GS Air because he stated he was having issues with his Nautilus mini.

I have a question, would i be better off using the BVC coils with full size Nautilus? I have the regular 1.6 ohm ones now , how much of a difference is there?
BIG difference ---it will be like getting a brand new, significantly upgraded tank!

So far here I'm still on the 1.6ohm that came preinstalled with each of the five 5ml Nautilus after almost a month's time now for the first three with two other ordered later during Black Friday. The mini tanks were also ordered later and so far both are working out well for whichever mod or APV they are on. Mini tanks two on iSticks and the full size on two Vamos(V5, V6), a Vamo FIre 20w, the VTR, and one on the Smok Guardian E-Pipe mod that finally came in.

On two of the large tanks the glass was replaced with the Stainless over glass which stinks without a view slot on those to see just how much is left in the tank. The SS for the Minis however has one T shaped view slot on two sides.

And for the heavy stuff like two 50w mods(SMOK BEC Pro, ZNA 50) plus one 30w lost in Limbo somewhere it would seem coming in from Fasttech the Atlantis tanks have homes! The difference of course for each tank is relative not only to size as far as the Nautilus tanks go but the wattage range and ejuice you put in. The larger tanks always seem to be able to handle a little bit more while both are best about 11-15w for the 5ml and about 7-11w for the Mini tanks. 20w gets a bit too warm for either of those two while that's where the Atlantis takes over.

Just got the news in that the 20w MVP is out at 101vapes for a good price! http://vapingcheap.com/itaste-mvp-2...il&utm_term=0_7360dbf574-d6a2b0369c-193095317

And the Mini iStick 10w version is naturally out first at Fasttech for $21.13 http://vapingcheap.com/mini-istick/

If it wasn't for still waiting endlessly for the E-::LVT to come in the MVP 20w would be a serious look since the 2.0 has been a reliable tool but limited!

Just what I don't need - another tank. .......
As I go to check out this one.

Personally I feel the market can produce a new subΩ tank every day of the week but if the price of those coils continue to remain astronomical, it'll cause those tanks to be occasional uses instead of frequent.
I'm a lazy dripper so I like the Atlantis for that reason but it's definitely not my grab 'n go.

So far no complaints on the Atlantis. When the first one came in I didn't feel the same way however since it would only fire at about 15w on the iTaste VTR. I still was waiting for the Smok BEC Pro and the ZNA 50 was ordered a few days later on Black Friday in early Saturday morning. By that time I had aleady had the Nautilus on the Vamo V6 and VTR as well as a few quick jabs on the iStick.

Later once the first three of those came and ordering two once I tracked the vendor down from Amazon I ended up ordering another Atlantis on 12/9 which still hasn't come in yet! That was due in Thiursday then Friday then Saturday according to the USPS tracking page when looking up the number there and might come ??? monday, tuesday, wednesday if not lost in Limbo due to all the holiday mail. I'm not looking to order anything at the moment!

I really can't see what all the fuss is about! RMS bah! I have used iStick since it came out and really happy. It is so simple to use ie: push buttons to adjust output to suit taste, how hard is that for the average user?.
Strange how a simple thread on a device quickly turns into a Electronic discussion on a $26 item.

Merry Christmas

I can only answer this by explaining crazy people like myself who go through life constantly asking the questions: "Why?" and "How?". I often have to refrain from teaching someone how to build a watch when I'm asked what the time is.
