I have a friend that was interested in getting some vaping gear to quit analogs. He purchased an istick (20w), used it for about 2 weeks or so.

It was working great, but seems to be dying after just 2 weeks of use.

- display is blinking non stop. If I hold down the fire button, it reads "no atomizer" without blinking, then goes back to main display and starts blinking again (like a strobe)

- all atomizers I tested will read "atomizer short". they all work perfectly on every other mod I test.

- it's not holding charge. it seems possible to use it as pass thru (if it wasn't for atomizer short msg), but as soon as you unplug the usb, it goes out. been charging for over an hour, it sits there with the display blinking, the battery reads full as soon as you plug in the usb, and "low power" as soon as usb is unplugged.

I realize it's a long shot but, any suggestions? Anyone heard of similar issues before with the isticks?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, it seems that your friend got a bad iStick. Too many issues to start diagnosing over the internet, which may or may not be interrelated. I suggest your friend contact the vendor and RMA the bad one for a good one.

My friend just got his iStick 30w last Friday. Today he called me and said it was reading "No Atomizer" while he was driving in the car. He's using a full size Nautilus on it. Put in a new coil last Friday too.

This puzzled me because the firing pin is spring loaded, so it should be making contact. I told him to clean off the firing pin and the 510 connection on the tank, and he said it still wasn't working.

Does that mean his coil is bad? I don't have any more details. He just called me to ask me.

I would definitely check the coil head first before looking further at the mod.

Got an email confirmation shortly after placing the order late last evening and got an email this afternoon that the order has shipped.

Thanks Kat, but I'm looking for a supplier in the US. I'm burnt out on the wait times to get things from China.

Welp, I ordered today, so will let you know when they arrive. (I opted for Epacket - 3 to 7 days)

I have friends who have used this vendor in the past with very good results (in ship time)!

Thanks. I only had a coil poof die on me like that once. It was a coil that I had dry burned though. Is aspire still having issues with their coils? I heard a while back there was a bad batch.

It is rare, but I too have had one break, in all honesty it had probably taken 2 or 3 falls that each and of themselves could have sheared a coil. I didn't want to be the one to bring up, if all his atty's are not working it's not looking good for the mod. ;)

Thank you aldenf, I appreciate the help.

Just an update, there seems to be hope, display is no longer blinking, tested again with a tank connected and this time it worked.

As you said, too many issues, but I am hoping that it just had a completely drained battery. Seems to me like he drained the battery, then kept vaping on pass thru, and all it needs is a good charge.. I'll report back

Yeah, 25% off is a good sale. I snagged a silver iStick 30W from rockymountainvapor earlier today. It'll probably be here before my replacement/exchange blue iStick 30W from evape arrives. And then sometime in the next six months my two 30-buck Cloupor Mini 30 watters will show up from gearworst. Maybe.

I'll wait to see how the 50W mini boxes shake out. And as for high-wattage tanks, I'll also wait for prices to come down on the Aspire Atlantis or Kanger Subtank Mini/Nano. Or rather, I'll wait for the myriad clones to those pricey tanks to hit the Chinese marketplace (i.e., fasttech). First off, Aspire's gotta convert their coil heads from that ceramic stuff to organic cotton wicks, and Kanger has to make the changeover from defective (white silicone?) insulators to PEEK insulators before I'll even consider buying either of those tanks.

That's another case of GAS rather than need, since I have two brand-new, never-used, empty Erlkonigin Nano clones sitting in my hardware cabinets, just waiting for sub-ohm builds and a couple of new fave low-nic DIY juices.

Back in the Candy Store again! You know, I checked the 20 Watters and they come to only 24.00 shipped!

I'm hooked on these isticks. Might get a mini while I wait on my 50's. I think the 30 will remain my favorite, though. I'm glad I didn't buy that ProVari. Now I can use the money on tanks and drippers...........or more sticks:)

How come?

Eric

Because the usb cord attachment at the side would hinder my usual grip of the device. I couldn't care less about whether or not the device is upright while charging and really don't understand why this seems to be so important to some people. It's not like it's some huge device that takes up alot of real estate when in a horizontal position.

I did. Right after I ordered. And I just got a shipment notice. Maybe give them a call?

Thanks. Just checked again and found that I did receive an email - it just took a bit longer than I expected. Actually, now that I look at it, it's a shipping notice, not an order confirmation. Guess they're so fast that they decided to skip a step. :)

Personally i like pass-throughs to be on a side so i can set it down with a RDA or Genni on top. If it was on the bottom it would have to be on the side... and leaking would commence. Not cool for dripper or genni fans.
