thats very odd, how could the 20watt give out more more than it was engineered for for it to be able to burn out the coils, if its going to die its either weak batteries or board has been fried

How about that the eleaf 8watts setting wasn't working and it's firing at eleaf 20? I'm no rocket scientist, but I have heard that it is a sign the chip is going when the power level decides to fluctuate on it's own.

Was it actually burning the coil? Well, that seems to be a common phrase more than science....but, again, I'm no rocket scientist. It is pretty well established that not all coils can handle the above 10 or 15 watt ranges, mostly due to wicking.

Is anyone else sick of waiting for the istick 50? The 30 is nice but the battery at 4400 is the draw. I have endless mods and mechs but size and promise of a great mod has me interested.

My Vapor Store is now showing them in stock for $48.95.

@dannydestroy I'm waitin on 2 that I bought in a co-op. Supposed to ship before the Chinese holiday. I sold all my mods already :) I'm usin a 30w right now, which last me more than a day on a charge most days.
:laugh:Remember you said you're hooked? Welp, I AM hooked too (but just on the 20's I have for now! they really work for me and no problems whatsoever). With the Nautilus', it just can't be beat compared to what I was doing before. :)

I think the 20 has a quicker fire than the 30. The 30 is fast but in a showdown.................:) Nothin wrong with the 20 for my style either I just have OCD:)

Did you notice on the picture of the 50W that the up and down buttons are now on the side rather than below the screen? That gave me pause because depending on which hand you hold it in, you could have the tendency of pressing those buttons when you don't intend to.

They have the option to lock the volts-watts.

I'm sorry to quote the entire post but you seem to know what I need to know and would really appreciate your opinion\advice.

With a iStick 30w is it okay to use Aspire BDC dual 1.8 coils? If so, what would be the best settings to start with? obviously start low and work my way up but with the dual coils how does it increase or impede the output?

If you can help me I would really appreciate it.. thank you

I can try, but I don't own the 30 and my experience with Aspire BDC coils is limited. Having said that, if the reports are true and the 30 is really operating in RMS, you should have no problems at all because your voltage and wattage readings will be accurate.

I usually vape my dual coils at 4.2-4.8 volts, depending on the resistance of my topper and my ejuice. Or 10-11 watts (5-5.5 watts per coil). YMMV, so you're right--start low and work your way up if necessary.

But there's more to successful vaping than just correct wattage; the two big ones are wicking and airflow. If your atty can't wick fast enough to constantly keep the coil wet, you'll experience dry hits--you'll be inhaling hot air from your overheated coil and possibly smoke from the coil gunk burning off. No fun. Good airflow is also critical--it helps with wicking and keeps the coil from being overheated. Dry hits can happen at any wattage, really, if wicking is poor.

My experience with BDC coils was not a happy one, possibly due to the tank I was using. I have an Aspire ET-S with pathetically tiny airflow holes. I tried to enlarge them, but with little success. Even though I primed those coils well (I dripped some juice directly into the coil head to make sure everything inside is well saturated), I often experienced dry hits. BDC coils are built a little like cartos--with a wick going through the coil and a polyfill wrap around the inside of the shell.

So yes, start low and be careful with BDC coils. They may give you dry hits at any wattage.

Thanks for such a thorough reply. All i can do is try. I just wish I had something more reliable(tank wise) as i pulled the trigger and got one. I had to at the current price. I've never had a mod before so this will be like a starter mod for me. I've only used standard EGO batts(not even VV ones..haha) since i started 3+ years ago.

I also wish i didn't have so many Aspire BDC coils but If they don't vape well I'll just have to buy a good tank.

Thanks.

Thanks

What tank are you using with your BDC coils? The ET-S has the most restrictive airflow, AFAIK, but even that can be remedied, somewhat. Are you handy with a drill? :p

I'm using the worst. CE5. I plan on making the air holes bigger. One person said they've used the Aspire BDC CE5 clearomizers with iStick and they work good for him. I'm hoping to just have it work and not spit juice at me or kill attys. I've never had any kind of variable voltage device before, just plain ole EGO batts. They always got the job done, but this looks too fun and was really tempting at this price range\value.

What tank on a budget would you get for an iStick 30w?
