Even if the vendor mentions that they're new, you need to inspect them upon reciept.

I ordered from a well-known vendor that specifically noted that they were the new cotton nautilus BVCs. When I recieved them, they were clearly not. I talked to the vendor and after a slight push-back, they sent new ones and return shipping for the old ones.

The difference on the packaging that I could tell (and this might not be for all the packaging) is that the lettering on the authentication sticker that says "scratch and check" is red on the new ones and black on the old ones. The difference on the coil itself is that the flow holes are bigger. Don't let the vendor tell you that they are making the new ones with small holes now - it's not true. Small holes = old coils.

FWIW, I think the new design and materials are better than the old ones.
Thanks for the info red, but one thing about the bigger holes. I received 2 boxes recently and the coils have bigger air holes and they are still the same old ones. I believe Aspire started drilling the holes bigger for a short period of time before they changed to cotton. The new cotton coils came out early this month, after I got these. :)

Howdy e-pipeman,

What seems to be the problem with your iSick 20W and the GS Air?

I ask because I was thinking about getting/trying a couple of GS Air's for my 20W and 30W iSticks

I was under the impression the GS Air would work great with the iSticks

could it be the coil is bad?

The GS-Air doesn't like to connect properly on my iStick 20w. It often shows no atomiser or errors unless I have it screwed on (too) loosely. Plays much better with the smart-20 and works excellently on the 50w.

Mine's the same on both the 20w and 30w - nevertheless I've just ordered another one as it was reduced on the site I use

WHEW!!!! Juat spent about an hour catching up in here....what a ride!!!:shock::confused::?::D

So much ground covered on so many topics!

I DID dry-burn BVC coils. It became such a hit-or-miss type situation with whether the next tank would taste burnt, I've just started a log sheet on how many fills I have on each of my nauti minis and when they start to taste "off", I just chuck the coil and put a new one in. I found that all that time and trouble REALLY wasn't worth the couple of dollars a new coil costs! :2c:

Evie, I completely agree with you about World of Vape....great vendor and great prices/shipping speed etc. I've never had a bad experience with them and also have made many purchases there.

RedHead....your thoughts on the direct injection device are quite interesting....a thought....what about the possibility of fuel-injector type "pump" so that the delivery is pulsed rather than a steady flow?!?!? No idea about power consumption, size, battery draw etc....just a though to help the coil maintain proper temp during the injection....:?: :)

Deals on ANYTHING VAPE RELATED.... I ALWAYS check here before making any purchases (other than co-ops ;))

Quitting smoking.....all the things I wanted to say about that have been said (Thank you Evie ;)). Nic does take longer to reach the brain from vaping (minutes vs 7 seconds <smoking>) ....vape on and give it a chance. Smoking AND vaping will TERRIBLY affect your chances of quitting as the rewards center of your brain will always know that "quick fix" is there in the pack of coffin nails (see my AVI?;)) and this making vaping SEEM ineffective as a nic delivery means. I had NO intention of quitting smoking (I enjoyed it) but within a week of vaping (and ECF stalking) I couldn't STAND the horrid taste and smell of cigs. The simple eGo style starter kit that I bought in order to SUPPLEMENT my smoking when I couldn't smoke (at work), thankfully, caused my ACCIDENTAL quitting of over 25 years of being a slave to the stinkies!!! Now I don't have to sit in the garage and freeze or sweat to get my nic!!:banana:

I'm rethinking this whole "stockpiling" thong as I look at the BOXES of vape gear that I've outgrown....methinks, I'll just get "enough" and a couple of backups to sustain me until the next wave of shinyitis and co-ops strike! ;):D Then it'll be PIF time again....:)

....bu bu bu but now I have all this cheap, cr....y vodka...

Haven't used it for a while now. Mebbe I should go donate it to the homeless guys. On second thought, mebbe that's not such a good idea. :p

Interesting thing about the vodka. If you leave some chromed brass parts - like Protank coil heads - in there long enough, the vodka starts acquiring a quite nice, light, transparent bluish tint, while the chromed surfaces start fading to a brass-ish color.

Strong stuff, that vodka.

Switching gears, have you tried the Lemo Drop yet? How do you like it?

If you're not rebuilding, vodka can still clean coils and wicks - it's why the solution changes colors even on stainless steel parts. :) And if you'd take the coil units apart, you'll see. It's not like a brand new coil but it will clear up the draw enough to get a few weeks to a month more use.

Also the cheap vodka makes for good Molotov cocktails

Oh no, you're wrong at that. The charger is rated at 1A, and unless you use an iPhone charger it'll take too long. I keep an Anker multiport charger for my USB powered devices
http://www.amazon.com/Family-Sized-...gy-Motorola/dp/B00P936188/ref=dp_ob_title_wld
At least get one of these, they work great and declutter the wall sockets.

You paid $35 for a USB charging hub? Geeez. I just use a $2.99 surge protector.

One thing I will admit though. I read that the iStick could only charge at 0.5 amps, so having a 1 amp charging base was useless. I believe it's been proven that that is false. All my ego charging bases are 0.5 A. I'm trying to get a cheap 1A one now. They sell them for 99 cents on ebay, but I bet they're pure crap and will break quickly.

Generic chargers/cabling is probably the toughest thing for me to figure out what a good deal is. I mean you've got the genuine apple stuff from the store that they sell for ridiculous amounts of money ($15 for the plastic film cover), and you've got the $1 ones they sell on ebay that are kinda crappy. Then you've got the genuine lightning cable that costs like $20 at apple? It's $2 on ebay, and a "genuine" one could go for around 6, but you never know with these chinese knockoffs.

Just frustrating that's all.

They are in Brooklyn, NY IIRC.

Thanks for the info. I think my friend is ordering soon, and saved a few bucks.

I'm actually tempted to order another one myself but my 20w is still working fine after 6 months. A little scratched up though. Should just wait for iStick 3, but I doubt one will come out any time soon. The 30w really is a near perfect device.

I got a cute little istick mini yesterday along with a GS16S to go on top of it! It's so cute and so tiny....I love how it hides in my pocket! I bought it from the classies along with a 20W to replace my sick one. I did kinda "fix" the sick one. I used a nail file to pull up the center pin so it would accept the ego adapter. Now I can put tanks on it with worrying about pushing the pin down. The only thing is with the adapter plus a beauty ring and a tank, it makes the whole set up too tall so I'll only use it when I'm at home or in the car but not take it to work.

AND good fuel for the Origo marine stove... Some years back vodka was cheaper than burning alcohol.

My outlets are cramped, screaming for room. At one time at my bedside table you'll have the Kindle, iPhone, 2 PVs and any of the bluetooth headphones. Plus, the wireless phone charger and the computer brick. Too much for a single circuit, it does the trick nicely.
The iStick adapter for Argentina is 1A. No Android chargers for it, much less if you want to use it as a passthrough.

Woohoo!!! No more 40W isticks for you!! Have you torn the defective istick apart yet?
I took the screws out of both ends and then decide to stop there until I hear back from Evape US. The buttons make it a little difficult to just slide the innards out and I didn't want to risk damage yet. The new one is workin nice :)

Make bloody mary. Tabasco and Worcestershire will take care of that cheap vodka taste. ;)

I guess that mini setup is the ultimate stealth mod. I used to use an ego 650 mah and tank. Every time you post I get a warm at home feelin for some reason

I've seen some complaints about the size of those new holes--some users say that they are too big and the new coils tend to leak and flood. So this has not been your experience? Are you using high VG ejuices?

The GS-Air doesn't like to connect properly on my iStick 20w. It often shows no atomiser or errors unless I have it screwed on (too) loosely. Plays much better with the smart-20 and works excellently on the 50w.

That 510 connection on iStick 20 has always been wonky. iStick 30 has fixed all connectivity problems--at least for me.
