Sorry, but this statement (taken directly from the FDA) immediately invalidates your credibility. You may or may not have made some good points but you've lost all respect, so your points are immediately scoffed at. Would you take anyone seriously who stated that "one of the reasons you shouldn't drink water is because it's used in battery acid"?
I've heard this statement about about PG and antifreeze before. Did it really originate with the FDA? If true, that is just unfreakingbelievable!

Although I am certain nicotine use can become something of a dependency much like caffeine, I don't recall seeing proof that it is what would be considered an addictive substance. When dropping nicotine levels in vaping I may have felt a little jittery for a day or two. It was dramatically different than trying to cut down on my cigarette usage, which led me to becoming an angry ........ Or an even angrier ......., depending on who you asked.

With me, I don't have an addictive personality. I had to (daily) take Oxycontin, (100mg.) Neurontin,(2400mg) plus vicodin for breakthrough pain, and sleeping pills at night for over 10 years due to a severe injury. Because my condition and pain is chronic and therefore will be with me for as long as I live, I decided I wanted to stop taking the medicine and learn how to deal with the pain mentally and naturally instead of a medicine cabinet that would kill a horse.

I stopped taking the vicodin first, no withdrawals no nothing, then I stopped taking the oxycontin and I did not wean off it (lol.. much to the dismay of my doctor.. I just quit taking them - apparently your not supposed to do that your supposed to wean off them) but I felt like I had the flu for a couple of days and then was fine.. then I stopped taking sleeping medicine, then I stopped taking the Neurontin..

Never had problems quitting, never went through any omg I'm going to die or kill someone if I don't take another pill.. never considered robbing the local convenience store. Lol..

I don't drink alcohol but once or twice a year.. I don't drink coffee much.. I simply do not have an addictive personality.

Yet, trying to get off cigarettes was worse than a crack addict trying to get off crack. I went through horrible withdrawals, I wanted to kill things, if I didn't have money I could have seen myself robbing a convenience store for another smoke. It was bad. I was awfully addicted.

Yet, now that I'm off cigarettes I'm fine (although I went through serious withdrawals initially even with vaping). I tried eliminating the nicotine a week or two ago to see if I had any ill effect from it (as I wanted to determine how many years of nicotine I wanted to buy to stock up) and I had not one symptom of withdrawal.. not one.

There is something in cigarettes, some combination of chemicals that produces a highly addictive result. It's definitely not just the nicotine.

I see a lot of posts accusing you of being an FDA shill. The thing is, the FDA has no problem with the Nicotine, it's pretty much everything else (which is more absurd IMO).

To respond to your statement, let's look at the actual facts. Smoking cigarettes (or anything for that matter) is the problem. The multitude of carcinogens, chemicals, and the smoke itself is why cigarettes are as bad for both smokers and second hand smokers. Why is it that the average ejuice chemical make up can fit on 1-2 pages, but the report on a non menthol is 28 pages and menthol is 30?

To your next point regarding nicotine. You are correct in that nicotine does temporarily increase heart rate and blood pressure. However, you left a few things out. Nicotine by itself (eg not in cigarettes) is not carcinogenic and requires a massive amount(50-100mg) in order for their to be an issue. When you combine it with cigarettes, because of the numerous chemicals, nicotine aids in large spikes in HR and BP. Speaking on a completely subjective point, my BP was normally around 140/97 while I was smoking. When I quit and was still using 3mg ejuice about 30ml a day, my BP dropped to 124/78. Now, I vape w/ no nicotine and I literally have the average BP 120/80.

I can't speak to the acne or supposed necrosis your talking about (you'd think there'd at least be a reference in a medical journal for something like that). PG (also used in Ice Cream, Cheese, Coca Cola and Pepsi products, etc), does not do anything to your vascular system. While it does, in people with an allergy to PG, cause the dry, red, itchy symptoms, in most cases, this is not true.

Yes, smoking and vaping are bad for your health. Is vaping better than smoking? (.... the FDA) YES! 95-99% safer according to 2 recent findings. Is using a patch or gum a better option than vaping? Nope, even the head of the FDA concede the fact that smokers are far more likely to quit smoking altogether through vaping.

Which brings me to the end of this correction. I speak for myself, but what I set out to do was quit smoking 2 packs a day and I did it through vaping. I wasn't trying to quit nicotine as you say, I wanted to stop killing myself 40x a day and that's what I did.

Feel free to contact me or reply here for any of the citations I have used.

That actually just seems stupid, especially considering I went through withdrawals when I stopped smoking and started vaping. I'm not exactly sure why all these people think the only addictive portion of smoking cigarettes is nicotine. If it was, anyone and everyone could easily beat the addiction using patches or other such replacements for smokes.

If Marlboro made a nicotine free cigarette, I'd put money on it that it would still be addictive.
I often wondered that too!

The failure of Joseph to stick around or return to defend his opinion, as erroneous as it may be, tells me all I need to know about him/his post.
Shill, or not, I cant blame him for not posting again, judging by the amount of censored posts, he was not received with hospitality. He obviously stepped on a landmine.......

Or for those who prefer something without a prescription (at least in the UK), there's even a minty mouth spray https://www.amazon.com/Nicorette-QuickMist-Mouthspray-150-Freshmint/dp/B004UEB65U .Freshen your breathe while taking a spray.

Funny enough, it's even presented as an option merely to use when you can't smoke a cigarette, which doesn't even sound like a nicotine cessation product. Really, here,
"It can be used to help you quit, cut down or even when you are unable to smoke for example, in front of children, at work or whilst travelling. This mouth spray provides a safer alternative to smoking for you and those around you. How do I use it?"
Interesting product. Never seen it before, funny how a quick search for it showed all kinds of gums, lozenges, and patch products being marketed online. Another glaring thing popped up in the Quickmist add:
How do I use it? Directions for Use: For adults and children aged over 12 - Use one spray at first,
Hmmm, how can this be OK for children over twelve, but e-cigs are bad for anyone under 18/21, very odd...

PS, I didn't see any mention of age requirement to order either

That's diethylene glycol not propylene glycol. It's not the same thing. The former is toxic and not allowed in food or drugs.

Go to any forum and push the exact opposite view from the one which is apparent to the forum and you are usually met with the same level of sarcasm as was found in this thread.

If he had a sense of humor, he would have at least appreciated the quick wit and humour shown here. I had a good laugh at many of the posts myself. ( And yes I had the good fortune of actually reading them all prior to deletion)

All that to say, no one is that stupid as to not expect a response like the one given. It would be the same at any forum or any topic where the whole has a particular view. Would a conservative go to a liberal forum and preach conservatism and not expect sarcasm in response? No..

So no one can actually expect something different anywhere. People are human after all.

The fact he didn't come back and simply did a hit and run, was because he never had the intention of learning or even teaching if he really does believe all that. If you go into the lion's den in order to change the attitude of lion's, you stick around and explain why you hold this view, and answer opposing views.

A hit and run is done with the intention of poisoning the waters for those who might be browsing out of simple curiosity.. not because of how you are received, and not because you didn't expect to be opposed.

BTW, I tried it recently. Bought a couple to take on a transatlantic flight. While marginally better than nothing, it was not satisfying at all. Found myself stealth vaping rather than using it openly. It might be OK to help keep from killing someone, if you absolutely had no vape, but it wasnt good for much more than that.

Yes, you and I know that. That isn't what we are talking about and is not a distinction made by those that are demonizing us. They say what we vape is the same thing used in antifreeze without also adding that now antifreeze is made non-poisonous by using propylene glycol instead of diethylene glycol.
I think but of course can't prove that the article was written the way it was because most folks see antifreeze and think poison. Most folks won't dig any deeper than that.

I know that people say that PG is used in antifreeze without mentioning WHY it's used. I was just saying, that in all fairness, that wasn't what the statement from the FDA stated.

Did you read this? It tells you about that, based upon scientific studies conducted. :)

Nicotine, the Wonder Drug? | DiscoverMagazine.com

Ahh.. I never read that. Just finished up and it confirms my experience. The section "Not the Great Satan" has been what I was thinking due to my personal experience.

I'm glad the research has been done on that.. awesome article thanks!

Right and it should be pointed out as to WHY more often. And I agree that isn't what the article stated but I am thinking that it is where it all started. Of course I could be way off base and I am sure someone will correct me if I am :)

No, you do NOT have the right to insult back.

If the trolling by the membership continues in this thread, we're going to start handing out suspensions. What we have here is a golden opportunity for education. Yet some of you are perfectly fine with ignoring the rules and going into full blown troll mode. It will cease.
