No, you do NOT have the right to insult back.

If the trolling by the membership continues in this thread, we're going to start handing out suspensions. What we have here is a golden opportunity for education. Yet some of you are perfectly fine with ignoring the rules and going into full blown troll mode. It will cease.
Why not just nuke the thread? There's nothing good coming out of this. OP couldn't even spell cigarette correctly and threw out a bunch of misinformation and has now disappeared.

Nope. If you can't follow the rules, don't post. It's that simple.

And from the reception the OP got by some, I'd be hesitant to return as well. This is not how we treat each other on ECF.

I know that people say that PG is used in antifreeze without mentioning WHY it's used. I was just saying, that in all fairness, that wasn't what the statement from the FDA stated.
It may not be exactly what the FDA said, but it's what the originator of this thread said. And who remembers whether it was diethylene glycol or proplene glycol 7 years later? Either way the reference to anti-freeze just because it's an ingredient is non-sensical and purposely misleading. A half truth is a whole lie. Just google Dihydrogen Monoxide for a good example.

I would like to make a suggestion. I am being sincere.

When an Admin deletes a post, I would like to suggest a notification be sent to the offender. (I bet the programmer Admin types could even automate it)

The way things are now, an offending member has no idea his/her post got deleted unless they read BACK through a thread, which is not a given. I seldom read back through posts that I have already read/past in the chronology.

It is conceivable, and in fact has happened to me personally, that a post gets deleted and the offender never knew they stepped over the line far enough to inspire Admin ire.

I agree that the FDA slanted this information to forward their agenda, I just wanted to be clear, even if they may not have been. As for the sites on water being toxic, they are intended as humor, (at least I hope this is the case). I like to show that site to my students and see how long it takes them to figure out what they are talking about.

I think the point of the dhmo site is less humor and more to point out the fact that even something as benign as water can be made to look scary as hell. It's all about presentation of the message.

Persistent vaping each day will indeed cause skin problems, especially on your face. It is not traditional acne, it is a form of skin necrosis.

skin necrosis of the face?

trust me ... do not google that

A hit and run is done with the intention of poisoning the waters for those who might be browsing out of simple curiosity.. not because of how you are received, and not because you didn't expect to be opposed.
It's been my experience in 17 yrs of forums that when a persons 1st post is one like the OP presented here, chances are extremely high it wasn't done with good intentions & chances are higher than extreme that the OP wont return.....they never do.

Anyway, today I met a dual user. She was with her mom & her mom seemed extremely interested in electronic cigarettes. While she & I were talking, her daughter kept interjecting "they dont work!" The mother was trying her best to ignore her daughter (I was too) & by the time we finished talking she said she learned a new word & she was going to "get herself a vaporizer!"

Now the daughter, from what I was able to get out of her.....ecigs dont work cause she didnt want it to work. Her purpose for vaping is for when she's not able to smoke & given the choice she'd choose a cigarette over an ecig all day every day.

We can do that. Generally we leave a reason in the thread, but it can also be tagged to send a notice to the user as well.

However, after posting twice earlier in this thread, you'd think some would get the hint.
Not trying to justify anyone's behavior, nor my own. And yes, you did post a few reminders of the guidelines. Leaving a reason in the thread is great, but only benefits the offender if he/she is rereading through the older posts.

I do know from personal experience that I have had posts deleted (not in this thread) and only knew about because someone else referred to it. It was a page or three back in that thread and I had no reason to reread the thread until someone pointed it out.

I would appreciate the tag notice. Most of the time I dont mean anything untoward by my posts. Whether I agree or not, even it pisses me off, it is better to know and be able to avoid further ire.

That may be, but still funny as hell.
Oh, I agree. It's priceless whenever I reveal to someone that what they had just read is about nothing more than the water they drink every day. Hopefully they look at information with a healthy dose of skepticism from that point on.

Whether it's cigarettes or vapes, both are just horrible for your lungs,

Not quite as bad as you make it seem to be...

Exposure to Nicotine and Selected Toxicants in Cigarette Smokers Who Switched to Electronic Cigarettes: A Longitudinal Within-Subjects Observational Study

As for other quit methods, I tried every single one my doctor prescribed or recommended including help groups and professionals NONE WORKED....

As for nicotine... when I was smoking I was getting 440-460mg a day... Now I use from 10-20mg (total) a day...

Nicotine is nothing more than a mild stimulant on par with caffeine, it is being demonized because just about every test done on it was done when used in conjunction with the combustion of tobacco cigarettes and not on pharmaceutical grade nicotine...

Acne? I haven't had zits since I had quit zits when I quit smoking, you see when you quit smoking and take up vaping or just quit smoking in general your body wants to clear out the toxins caused by smoking and zits are just one of those ways our bodies do it...

I really recommend you go out and read some of the actual studies, if you have a basic understanding of science and the methods they use you'll come to understand that vaping isn't quite as bad as the media makes it out to be..

That will be a hard nut to crack. I've been told that I'm inhaling antifreeze more times than I can remember. It's the most frequent negative comment I've had thrown at me. I used to try to explain. Pretty much gave up though, they look at you with pity because you've fallen for the vaping propaganda. I don't think I've had a single success clearing up that one.

While that may be true, it still does not justify the behavior of the membership in this thread.
