I'm mainly in maintenance mode right now with cartos and juice, although this last payday I did buy another wall charger, ego 420mA charger and a pretty 1000mA ego batt, which I'm glad I did because something weird is going on with one of my other batts.
I wanted to get in on the MVP co-op but was too late for it. My next two purchases will be an eVic and an MVP.
But yes, after 7+ months I am now in maintenance mode. I do allow myself 1 or 2 new 10ml juices a payday from different vendors to see if I might like them.
I have a vape budget....erm...kinda, lol

My cig cost BV (before Vaping) was 160 per week. I don't need stuff to be pretty as long as it works.
I can buy one of damn near anything that comes out and still save money hand over fist.

I diy some and have a freezer stash in case of zombie apocalypse, but other than that my cost are really low compared to analogs.

I chain vape and sometimes I have one device in each hand :)

I saw the evic and that actually made me excited about PV'S ( currently using ego c twist)
Then I saw the provari mini online and man that is beautiful.
If I am going to vape a big device I want it to look nice.
The evic looks like a plastic woman's toy. I won't go into anymore detail.
Hopefully before jan 1st I can pick up a mini

Took me about a month to find my sweet spot. Went through a eGo-T system, to a Lavatube to a Provari and haven't looked back.

I recently sold my Black Provari V2 and picked up a White Mini. I also moved onto rebuildables a couple of months ago when I bought my DID. I upgraded my DID to a ZAP and sold my DID.

Now I'm sitting with my Provari V2 White Mini with Red LED (Canada ...) with ZAP on top vaping some KaramelAPPLE from Jugheads.co

This is my sweet spot, haven't had a urge to buy any other devices I've seen around. I got in on the 500 Mesh COOP and purchased 100' of 28g Kanthal A1. Besides juice I'm set for a LONG LONG time.

You have to:

1. Find a PV(s) that works for you (form factor, performance, charging convenience, learn the new routine).
2. Find a carto/atty/RBA that you like. THIS is what really affects the taste, and vape.
3. Find a juice that you like. Over time, this is the main ongoing expense.
4. STOP SMOKING! (the real goal)

For me:
1. It took about 4 months and several devices to find what worked for me.
2. It took about 2 months to find atty/carto/RBA that I liked.
3. About 6 months of buying (don't buy a gallon of anything!), DIY ever since.
4. I stopped smoking completely less than a month after starting vaping.

Now I just buy cartos and DIY ingredients.

Well
I just spent $1200 on Microtech Socoms.......
But I don't plan on overdoing it on vaping equipment....

There is that, switching from analogs to vaping creates a lot more disposable income.

Tomorrow Im going to open up a savings account and put 4.50 a day in it (thats half of what I usually spent per day at 2 packs a day) and when I make it to a year analog free Im going to celebrate :)

It took me about 6 months to find the equipment I liked. I went through a bunch of things I can no longer remember the names of. Then took another 3-4 months to try a bunch of juices (which was cheaper than hardware). Now I rarely buy anything cause I make my own juices.
My mod saved me. I have used it so much I have worn the anodized paint off of much of it. I rarely use the 510's or Ego's but keep them charged. Just try different things till you find what you like.

I ended up with this:
1. Reo Grand mod (I am planning someday to buy a backup. I like having 2 of everything!).
2. 2x 510
3. 2x Ego
4. Combination 510 case with built-in charger
5. I buy premixed nic juice (24mg, 80/20) at 1/2 liter and mix little 30 ml bottles with flavors (sparingly) I like.

Your mileage may vary.

I figured out what I was spending per month on cigarettes, then that was became my "max budget". So long as I stayed within that amount...I could try out all sorts of things (none of which I consider a "waste"). I tried a lot of things and learned a lot. Eventually I started figuring out what I REALLY liked, and was confident enough with the performance to stick with that stuff...and the costs started coming down. When I started DIY (after an initial investment that wasn't really all that bad) the costs REALLY dropped down. Now I'm holding fairly steady and am well under my cigarette budget. It will go down even more next month now that I've gotten my final mechanical mod (one of 4) for awhile. I figure that by the first of January I'll be spending less than 1/4 of what I was spending on cigarettes...and still be buying a few "toys" in the mix. It was around the 9 month mark when I started seeing a marked decrease in my vaping expenses.

THIS is what I did,,,,,,I set my max weekly budget based on smoking,,,,,,

and frankly, I usually spent less,,,,,,

once I got into DIY, the costs plummeted to the point I can afford to buy another battery,,,,,or a cool drip tip,,,,,,,,because I've spent 40 bucks instead of 300 this month,,,,,,,,

After 3 years I'm still trying the latest hardware and $50 to $100 a month on ejuice and cartos and tanks. I'm ahead of the game because analogs cost $10.50 a pack here in New York and I was a 2 pack a day smoker of Newports, Kools and non-filtered camels back in the day. I smoked for 55 years. Analogs and Mary Jane. Hey, I'm a product of woodstock and the 60's.

Well I am six weeks into this, on my second PV kit and very happy with the eGo Twists. For the most part I am liking the Kanger T2 and the Stardusts the best - still not sure about the Vivi Nova - but it might just be the juice. At this point I am pretty much even with what I would have spent on cigarettes.

Since I am happy with the Twists and I have 3 of them, for now I only see buying juice and clearomizers. I think I will order a mini Viv Nova when I place my next juice order - but for now I should be good for several weeks.

So - unless you are the type that has to try all the new toys, I think you can get to maintenance mode within a couple of months.

What, wait - we're supposed to stop buying :laugh:

I'd say make a list of your needs based on useage and list of your wants. You need an atomizer, cartomizers and batteries, you want a expensive mod but you'll still need the supplies.

If the set-up you have works for you, then stay with it. I've used primarily a Riva Kit since within a few months of starting and I still use them, almost 3 years in. For roughly $60. I had 2 kits, with a charger and a spare charger and only have to buy cartos if I need them.

Hth! ;)

Haha first thing i though Vchick. "Wait people stopped buying?" But yeah if it works for you stick with it. Im treating this more as a hobby now and just like collecting this stuff.

Ok i can answer this thread now
I started buying in July. It accelerated in Sept. and tonight I do believe I've put in my last e cig type order for quite awhile; maybe 6 months.
I'll still visit ecf to take some nice long break vape breaks. Gonna give the search and find stuff activity shopping etc...a big rest. Its been job pretty well done too with SO much help from the nice people on here!

I'm in maintenance mode. I started with the Volt 78mm batteries last year, vaped for 4 months, went back to smoking until early April of this year. Since then I bought some Volt X2s and clearos, a Zenesis mini, and just 2 weeks ago an itatse MVP for my out and about PV. It's just juice and clearos since July (except for the MVP). Find the device, delivery method, and juice you like and you don't have to keep buying every new thing out there.

I didn't smoke enough to ever "break even"...I smoked about 4 stinky's per day at about $6.50 per pack. I have to think of my health and that this is a hobby in order to justify finding my sweet spot. I get frustrated at times trying to figure this all out but I am NOT INTERESTED in tasting a dirty ashtray so I keep on searching and tinkering. I did do the math and it will be about 8 months if I buy NOTHING to break even..which a'int gonna happen. It is hobby! haha.
