7/16 -9/16 #13 o-ring fits the bottom of a reo grand cup perfectly. @ 39 cents its ten times the cost but you dont have to buy 100 of them either

I got shorts whenever it touched the base. I find the vapor thicker and better tasting using silica so the hassles (I had) weren't worth the trouble. Granted, perhaps the SS mesh will last longer but it so easy to make a quick coil with the silica that I'm sticking with it.Why is that? I really like it
Well I just wrapped a coil using that XC-116. I'll let ya know what I think in a little while.
I was going to get some XC-116 from a friend here locally but after Matt said that it started to fall apart I didn't bother. Look forward to your thoughts on it.
Are any you folks using silica actually taking a torch to it before you install the wick/coil? I think that method is recommended on the FB group. I've tried with and without torching and I'm not sure I can tell a difference.
I have done it both ways and can not tell the difference.

O don't know what this XC-116 is....but it's nice stuff. I torched the crap out of it....It needs it. You could see the black crap getting burned off. The flavor is better.....I think? Expensive stuff....But so far, so good. I made the wick long enough to wrap around the back of the posts.

I always torch the little piece of kanthal before I wrap it, and only torch the wick when I remember. It doesn't seem to do anything except turn the silica a little more golden colored, lol. I thought it was to burn off the little hairs that may be loose, but the entire wick turns black before any of the little hairs burn off, so I usually don't bother.
On a side note, I have been doing the loop around the center post build that I saw somewhere. It works perfectly and seems to catch the juice much better. Also, very little waste as I just make a loop on the end of my long silica string and then adjust the loop to size once I have captured the wires. Then I end up just trimming off like 1/4" of waste and the rest of the whole string. This way there's no guessing how much silica to use and wasting inches at a time. Win-win!!

Okay, here's a pic of the loop thing I've been using, works great with 32g Kanthal A1 and the wick that came with the ERA. Also a crappy paint sketch of what's going on there, lol.
