Anyone have any particular place they could recommend for the cotton wick or the bamboo wick?
I get my cotton wick and my bamboo wick from Michael's here in town. Aunt Lydia's crochet thread #10 for the bamboo, and Red Heart (Walmart or Michael's) #10 crochet thread (100% cotton). Also, some like Peaches & Cream 100% cotton yarn from Walmart. It's pretty easy to get locally. If you like, I'll send you some (a bunch) of any or all.....and then some. I'd be happy to share. PM me if you want some....I'll label it all then you can get more of the things you like.

I rinsed it and switched juices and it was fantastic right away after that. Been great ever since on that same flavor. Go figure.
Yes....I love cotton. I also love bamboo. Tried one SS mesh, couldn't get the hang of it, gave my torch away. Been using cotton and bamboo wicks in the Chalice and the ERAs for over a month now, and so far it's the best (to me.)
Ok so here is the questions.....
I am a long time user of Reo's and don't have a problem running them dry....
My wife is going to be getting her first Reo and I am pretty sure she will from time to time run it dry what would be better for her the silica cotton or bambo

Well, I think they're all three very similar, but after reading the thread about safe wicking materials, I just would prefer cotton or bamboo over silica....real or perceived, I think it's safer than the silica. Of the cotton or the bamboo....I think they're very, very similar and would be hard-pressed to recommend one over the other much. Of the two, I like the bamboo a little better because I just like the way it wicks. I would be glad to send you some of each so you could try it all out without having to go dig it up. I'm sure you know how big a role of crochet thread is....I have enough to last me and all the rest of us until eternity and beyond. I'd label it and tell you where you can get it (locally....Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Walmart....) depending on which you like best.

It'd have to get COMPLETELY dry to burn....and it (both the cotton and the bamboo) wicks so well that it stays totally wet all the time. The only thing you CAN'T do with the cotton or the bamboo is dry burn it. If you do that, it'll go up in flames, but if you juice it once, it won't get dry enough to burn. Well, Longhaul.....I have decided to leave it alone and so far I'm using the same bamboo wick I rolled a week ago, and it's still going strong. I really can't answer this question well because I've been "playing" with all my wicking materials and "practicing" my rolling technique....so I don't really know how long one will last. I intend to settle down here pretty soon and just let one ride.
