Bro have you stuck one of those special dingleberries in the ERA yet? If you haven't, why not!? its asking for it!

Heheheh,, you know I have :)

Matt, have you had any luck sourcing any of the porous solid ceramic wicks? Porous Wick Ceramic - Buy Top Ceram,Vintage Ceramics,Wick Ceramic Ramic Product on Alibaba.com
If these things were made in 3mm width, and IF they wick properly, they might be the Holy Grail!

Pete,

I have, but not what you are linking, something very different, but it is of a high grade of a porous ceramic and xxx been working on something for quite some time now and almost have it perfected. Soon my man soon. :)

I was using something similar to that set up a ways back,, but I let my wire leads go long through the holes and use them to hold down the loop of wick....:).. but I have been having better all around luck with only using a very small piece of Silica as of late. To much wick IS NOT GOOD,,,,, you can taste it, and feel it in your throat,,,, my piece is only as big as my coil +1/16-1/8" past the last coil on each side. Try it.

Same with the small mesh coil, wrapped around a piece of the Silica :)

I tried making a small wick, just a bit longer than the coil, but I found it was less forgiving and prone to either flooding or being too dry. For me at least, having a loop around the center pin soaks up over squonking and provides me with more hits between squonks. Different strokes I guess.
Also, today I received some 9ml bottles from Vapage that fit the VVG perfectly. Nice to have that extra 3ml.

I found the same thing with the wick. That'll little bit of extra makes for a better tape as far as I'm concerned. How about a pic of the 9 mil bottles.

All I did was drill a hole in the cap that would allow the tubing to fit through. There might be an even easier way though. In each package of bottles there is a small silicone cap with a hole in it. It snaps to the top of the bottle allowing you to push the tubing in. You don't even use the cap. I was afraid it might somehow fall off so I took the drill route but I might just try it without the cap.

I've been using the Nextel XC-116 and I have to say, I love it. It takes about three mils to break in. It seems to be holding up great so far and the flavor is great.

I guess I'll call my buddy up again and arrange to get some Nextel from him. Sounds like you prefer it to the XS. How about a pic of your set up please.

I have been using a loaner ERA from JCOkie since yesterday morning and I am sold. I have been using cotton embroidery thread with 32g Kanthal 1.9ohms on the VV Grand.

No flooding issues, consistent good flavorful vape and of course the cost savings over time equals big win. The problem is getting one of course or in my case 4 eventually. Can't imagine anyone moving on from one of these but hit me up if you do. After my experimental stage with it, I be in the market! Nice to finally try something and be completely satisfied with it.

Ratman, glad to hear you're liking it....I knew (thought) you would. I guess this means you got the cotton-y taste out of the wick pretty quickly...right? I don't have a problem with taste beyond maybe a ml or less using either the cotton wick or the bamboo wick. It's been my experience that the wicks just get better and better with time. I've finally settled down from making new wicks almost every day (playing with a new toy....couldn't leave it alone!) to seeing how long a good one will last.
