Keep in mind that many adapters/extenders are prone to cause shorts.

One of my three ERAs is perfect and two are out a smidgen bit more than I would like but not as bad as the one in Robert's picture. I'm having to use a shortie 510 adapter on all my Woods. On close inspection of the three new adapters they have more visible insulation around the center pin than the old one I have. Old one I had to raise the center pin on male end which moved the pin to one side. I trust the old one less than the new one but trust in either is not very high.

As all my Woods need 510 adapter I've decided to use extender/adapter only on the VVW, for now, due to it's protection circuit. (Replacing Wood springs requires soldering but Metal springs require only screw.) So I'll stick to the Metal REOs and VVW only for ERA, for now, when I have to use any adapter/extenter as Metal REO springs are easy to replace.

BTW... I did have to raise the center pin slightly on VVW to get it to fire with any of the adapters.

{edit} The male end center pins can be "wobbled" on both but the new one stays more firmly in center position re, it is less "wobbly". I got the new ones at madvapes. I'd be interested to see the extenders from other vendors.

Until I get time to file the brass eGo extender cone down.... I went looking around the house, last night, for something I could use instead of the brass cone.... I found several old lanyards with "rubber" tube on end for some old, pen tablet stylus(s). Simply cut to size with shop scissors and wa-la. No indication the heat from ERA is causing any issues.

I'll bet there are a lot of things that can be found at hobby stores.

On my VVW.

{edit} DT is three sections of the purple "bamboo" DTs that we could order with the ERAs. That's the purple. Until trying it out all aluminum DTs got too hot for me (glass, ceramic "plastics", SS don't get too hot). The anodized aluminum "bamboo" are the only aluminum that don't get too hot for me.

Have you ever tried pushing up the contact pin on your wooden reo? Sometimes atomizers can push the contact pin down to far, try this it worked for me with a Phoenix atomizer and did not have to use a adapter. Take off your juice bottle and hose, stick a very small screwdriver in the tube and slowly push up and this will push your pin higher so you won't have to screw era down so far to make contact. I dont know if this will work, but just trying to help!

4mudski, It not that the ERA will not make contact.

Its that in the Mini and Supper Mini (18490) and some of the Woodvils the ERA is a tad to big in diameter and will not go in to the Catch Cup. So some are using adapters to elevate the ERA.

Please always use caution when using any adapters on any mod.

Hope that helps.

Hi guys! Those people connection problem with you ERA. The bottom screw is adjustable. You can loosen it so it will make contact. :)

It fits all of my vvw, grand and mini but not the 18490. Be careful in using adapters it may short you reos.

BTW few tips:

Before i make my coil i usually screw my ERA so I can choose which side I will put coil. I like to position my coil this way. Less flooding. I believe the topcaps send to you guys have 2 holes? It also lessen the juice coming out the hole opposite the coil.

9 oclock-10 oclock position.

Play around with the position of the coil in relation hole in the top cap Im sure you will find tons of vapor and flavor.:)

Im so happy you fellow reonauts finally have the ERA.

Cheers!:)

I didn't know it was adjustable either-
But the cover on our ERA's have only one hole.

Its adjustable. If your era has one hole it is better! position your coil at 12 oclock position. No flooding and very comfortable when you hold your reo the natural way. The airhole needs to be at the highest point when you vape. If you find the draw stiff you can bore the airhole but not too much. All of my topcap are bored out to 1.2mm. :)

This Era on a Grand is by far the best vaping experience I've tried to date. My only gripe is if you tighten it down took much, it shorts. If it's not tightened down enough, it's wobbly. I think I have a solution to that as well. I took an oring off of an old drip tip and put it on the 510 connecter of the ERA. I also found another oring that fits the diameter of the Reo's catch cup. Now I can screw on the ERA on the Reo, Rotate the wick to the 12 O'clock position....and the ERA sits tight and firm on the Reo. I guess I'm a lttile OCD when it comes to this stuff. I like it when everything fit's tight and straight. I'll post some pics later.

I did use cheap router to enlarge catch cup. It took me about an hour to finish but now it allow me to fit Chalice and Era, kicked with 18350. So yes, you have enough space to enlarge.

Catch cup size
Mini: 2 33/64 = 13.0969mm
Grand: 37/64 = 14.6844mm

ERA OD: 14.5mm (measure myslef , may be not accurate)
Chalice OD: 14.3mm (measure myslef , may be not accurate)

I tried one of those bundled wicks with the loops tied together on the opposite side of the posts.

I vaped several mls thru this setup and boy did it suck. No matter how much or little I squonked or what voltage I ran it, it just sucked.

I got my new wire and wick in today and made a new coil. I figured less is more.

20120828195920.jpg

That's four wraps of 36 AWG kanthal around two strands of 1mm fiberglass wick. It measured 2.3 ohms and I'm vaping it at 4.7 volts under load. I torched it, pointed the extra lengths upwards when I put the cap on the base, and it's been vaping wonderfully from the word go.

Just sharing what has and has not worked for me today. :)

Mud, I made the same style wick except I cut the tails flush with the edge of the ERA. I wrapped the looped end around the back side. I agree. It vales better with less wick and doesn't suck up so much juice. I can't say enough about this setup. I love it.

I left the extra lengths of wick in place and figured with them stuffed upwards in the neck of the cap, any e-liquid in those bits of wick will flow down towards the coil via gravity. That's my thinking, anyway.
