Well said and I agree 100%.

rba's have been around long enough in the tank world not to have worked out the kinks in them. It is simple and easy to set up.

IMO the fiddely factor is minimal. With all the messing around with attys, Cleaning drilling, blowing out. ect the rba is less Fiddely then standard attys.

learning curve Not hard at all, Most of the community has taken this out of the equitation as to what wire and wick to use or where to get it.

Small work area Yes most definitely but with a little patience I feel any one can build a good wick and wire set up. When building wick set up build more then one and you will not have to do it for a while.

Just my 2c

I get better vapor production, Better Flavor and less hassle from BF-RBA attys.

Heck I have even seen Pre-made wick and wire set ups out there for $1.00 each I have tried them and they work just fine. The will come in packs of (5) Even at that rate there fare less expensive then disposable attys.

IMO the BF-BRA is a WIN for the Bottom fed Mod Community.

Hmm, we have used rebuildables for years. Not specifically the Chalice and ERA, but the principle is not new. Basically yes, they are virtually permanent atties.
A setup in a RBA (ReBuildable Atomizer) can last for days or weeks to months, just like any other atty. But when you normally throw away your cisco or joye atty, you just rebuild the innards in a RBA.
Pros and Cons:

+ each coil is a lot cheaper than a china atty
+ with some experience you can set the resistance and other properties of the atty to where you want it
+ in a good RBA the airflow is a lot better than in a china atty - vapor is better
+ they can taste better than everything else on the market
+ Your choice of wicking material and coil material, there are many ways to skin that cat

- initial cost can be high
- they are fiddely, some more than others
- screws and terminals and coils are tiny. You need good eyesight (or a good way to magnify)
- they have a learning curve and it never ends.

The RBAs for the bottom feeders are very simple, compared to the monstrous (but very rewarding) tank atties like a Cobra or an Odysseus, because they are basically dripping atties with a hole through the connector and dripping atties are the simplest there are. No tank, no juice control needed, its all in the squonking =)

Throwing the era in a box to use a hh357 is blasphemy! I have been on my build for it since the day I posted the tut. Hasn't been unscrewed from the grand just fill bottle and vape. Dry burns to clean every now and then but now hassle whatsoever. How are you guys managing to lose your screws anyways? There is no need for removal just enough to fit the wire through. Idk what to say this is te easyest Rba there is available

Rob will have some on his site soon. :)

There are many places to pick it up. But If you do not have it yet or a RBA hang tight for Rob to put it on his sight. I am sure it will be more then reasonably priced on Robs site.

So, if i manage to buy a Chalice ( or two:)where would i obtain the wick and wire set-up?

Unfortunately, i need the simplest way to set up these as possible!

p.s. and I think the chalice II is gorgeous!

Thanks, Wayne! i don't think the Chalice's are available right now, and I'd rather buy the wire/wick from Rob than anybody.

That's ok...I'm not in a huge hurry..I have to try to wrap this concept of" building something with my own two clumsy hands"
around my poor feeble brain.

Oldbroad, there is an inexpensive tool out there called a "third hand". Essentially it is a weight with a few small articulating arms attached. Usually a couple of the arms have alligator arms attached and another arm has a magnifying glass on its end. They are very handy for small work. You can attach your wick to the clips then use tweesers under the magnifying glass to wrap the wire. You can pick these up for $5-$15. Here's a link to check it out: http://adafruit.com/products/291

Holy crap! I'm in trouble! That whole description made my head swim, lol, from, " it's a weight" to the sentense," You can pick these up..."

Maybe i should just stick to Chinese atties and buy a boatload:facepalm: for the doomsday event.

But I bookmarked it, just in case...

OB, It much simpler then you think if you do not wont to wrap your own wick and wire set up's these are cheep and easy to install. I have been playing with them off and on over the past month. The work better then any standard atty and at 5 for $5.00 are less expansive then good attys ever will be.

Just a thought Dont give up so easy :)

I actually make my own coils but have these when I am out and about, in case I need a new coil/wick. I keep it with the shown screw driver in a little bottle buddy.

I don't have my ERA yet, but am planning ahead -- does anyone make their coils/wicks in advance? Do you test each set-up for ohms as you make it and then put it aside, or do you just make your regular number of coils and be done with it?

I travel a lot and would like to carry pre-made wicks with me, like Xaria does with the AV set-ups (thanks for that pick, btw).

I have been using my OHM meter to meter out wire before I wrap it. I have found that 2.0 coils with 32gKa1 is the way to go on the VVG and VVW. I just put a length of wire and wrap it around the ohm meter probes. Then I use that length to make the coil. First time I did it coil was 1.9. When it gunks up a bit it will be right on.

For me it's not so much losing the screw as it is losing the micro hex wrenches. I've lost two and have only one left. Our HD doesn't have any small enough but I've found a place online that sells them singly, rather than a set, I think. I'll report back. I'm not really sure of the size so I'm going to order three tiny ones to see which is best fit and then order a few.

On the other hand, there are a lot of us with gimpy and/or old hands. Handling the tiny hex wrench can be very difficult or even impossible for some people. A jewelers type screwdriver or a wrench with a "handle" on it would make building the atty much more manageable.

Alice, your looking for a 1/32 Hex key.or .90mm. Should be easy to find

I will do a search and see where to find them on line.

Wayne, are you saying Rob is going to be listing RBAs on his site? Or the makings for coils? If RBAs, which ones?

Thanks, Feisty Alice

thanks Wayne!
wow... so many wraps of the coil; like the 357 style... usually when i wrap a coil (not often, and all thumbs, with say a Ody or even the Genesis, 3 wraps gets an LR and 4 or 5 get a SR. I know Hanna uses many wraps even for his 1.5 LR's and the flavor is great. Just saying; i don't understand it, but if they work for a RBA ( I have a Fatty 2), I'm going to try some of these.
